WGAN-GP_Glu: A semi-supervised model based on double generator-Wasserstein GAN with gradient penalty algorithm for glutarylation site identification

As an important post-translational modification, glutarylation plays a crucial role in a variety of cellular functions. Recently, diverse computational methods for glutarylation site identification have been proposed. However, the class imbalance problem due to data noise and uncertainty of non-glutarylation sites remains a great challenge. In this article, we propose a novel semi-supervised learning algorithm, called WGAN-GP_Glu, for identifying reliable non-glutarylation lysine sites from those without glutarylation annotation. WGAN-GP_Glu method is a multi-module framework algorithm, which mainly includes a reliable negative sample selection module, a deep feature extraction module, and a glutarylation site prediction module. In reliable negative sample selection module, we design an improved method of Wasserstein GAN with Gradient Penalty (WGAN-GP), named ReliableWGAN-GP, including three parts, two generators G1, G2 and a discriminator D, which can select reliable non-glutarylation samples from a great number of unlabeled samples. Generator G1 is utilized to generate noise data from unlabeled samples. For generator G2, both the positive sample and the noise data are used as inputs to improve the discriminant capability of discriminator D. Then, convolutional neural network and bidirectional long short-term memory network combined with attention mechanism are utilized to extract deep features for glutarylation samples and reliable non-glutarylation samples. Finally, a glutarylation site prediction module based on the three-layer fully connected layer is designed to make class predictions for samples. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and Matthew correlation coefficient of WGAN-GP_Glu on the independent test data set reach 90.58 %, 95.82 %, 94.44 % and 0.8645, respectively, which surpassed the existing methods for glutarylation sites prediction. Text clustering is a critical step in text data analysis and has been extensively studied by the text mining community. Most existing text clustering algorithms are based on the bag-of-words model, which faces the high-dimensional and sparsity problems and ignores text structural and sequence information. Deep learning-based models such as convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks regard texts as sequences but lack supervised signals and explainable results. In this paper, we propose a deep feature-based text clustering (DFTC) framework that incorporates pretrained text encoders into text clustering tasks. This model, which is based on sequence representations, breaks the dependency on supervision. The experimental results show that our model outperforms classic text clustering algorithms on almost all the considered datasets. In addition, the explanation of the clustering results is significant for understanding the principles of the deep learning approach. Our proposed clustering framework includes an explanation module that can help users understand the meaning and quality of the clustering results. Left ventricle (LV) segmentation in echocardiography is of paramount significance in cardiac function analysis. Recently, semi-supervised segmentation has garnered considerable attention due to its potential mitigation of labeling costs. Despite this, most semi-supervised methodologies tend to overlook the specialized anatomical priors specific to echocardiography, often yielding suboptimal outcomes. Simultaneously, atlas priors have been validated on other organs and imaging modalities. However, their direct application in echocardiography is fraught with challenges, primarily attributed to the indistinct boundaries of the LV and the presence of fan-shaped image edges, which impede atlas image registration. This paper presents a new method of semi-supervised segmentation using multi-atlas fusion, named SS- MAF, which is designed to incorporate atlas priors tailored for echocardiography while circumventing the intricate image registration process in traditional atlas-based methods. The SS-MAF comprises two components: a Multi-Task Learning (MTL) module and a Multi-Atlas Fusion (MAF) module. The MTL module serves precise landmark localization and segmentation estimation. The MAF module is primarily focused on the generation of probabilistic atlases, utilizing annotated atlas data with the guidance of key landmarks to facilitate the automatic annotation of unlabeled data, avoiding the traditional image-level registration, thus enhancing the performance of the MTL module. Our SS- MAF is rigorously evaluated on the publicly available CAMUS dataset, with results demonstrating its superiority over other state-of-the-art semi-supervised segmentation techniques in echocardiography.

We investigate the issue of a co-design event-based scheme and dynamic output controller for the H∞-stabilization of cyber-physical systems with network delays and packet loss. In particular, we are interested in the way to transmit information in dual-side transmissions, i.e., measurement and control channels, which have their own dynamic event-triggered sampling rules to construct dual-side mechanisms. The co-design conditions are boiled down to a class of bilinear matrix inequality problems, using a successive convex optimization method to overcome the non-convex problem and obtain the design parameters simulta-neously, which can get the desired control performance while reducing the data transmission stress. Finally, the validity of the proposed methodology is illustrated by a numerical case. © 2022 IEEE.

The Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) systems use sensors to detect the daily behavior of older adults and provide necessary assistance based on changes in their cognitive status and physical functions, thus enabling older adults to maintain their independence at home. However, the effectiveness of the AAL systems depends on the accuracy of the data provided by sensors. Namely, when a human error or a hardware failure occurs, the activity recognition model can become inaccurate. This inaccuracy hinders the identification of critical and potentially life-threatening activities. Although there are many methods for cleaning sensor data, there is no method for binary sensors deployed in smart homes. By considering noisy sensor events and unintentional forgetting of turning off the device, this paper proposes two clustering-based methods for denoising and splitting binary sensor events to address possible inaccuracy due to the two mentioned problems. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by the experiments using four machine learning models and three real-world smart home datasets and adopting different sensor configurations. The experimental results demonstrate that compared to the original unprocessed datasets, by combining the two proposed methods, the average accuracy and F-measure are improved by 15.00% and 17.25%, respectively. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Any-Angle Routing Algorithm for Microfluidic Biochips Driven by Flow Path

Continuous-flow microfluidic biochips (CFMBs) have become a hot research topic in recent years due to their ability to perform biochemical assays automatically and efficiently. For the first time, PathDriver+ takes the requirements of the actual fluid transportation into account in the design process of CFMBs and implements the actual fluid transport and removal, and plans separate flow paths for each transport task, which have been neglected in previous work. However, PathDriver+ does not take full advantage of the flexibility of CFMBs routing because it only considers the optimization of flow channel length for the global routing in the mesh model, except for the detailed routing. In addition, PathDriver+ only considers the X architecture, while the existing work shows that the any-angle routing can utilize the routing resources more efficiently and shorten the flow channel length. To address the above issues, we propose a flow path-driven arbitrary angle routing algorithm, which can improve the utilization of routing resources and reduce the flow channel length while considering the actual fluid transportation requirements. The proposed algorithm constructs a search graph based on constrained Delaunay triangulation to improve the search efficiency of routing solutions while ensuring the routing quality. Then, a Dijkstra-based flow path routing method is used on the constructed search graph to generate a routing result with a short channel length quickly. In addition, in the routing process, channel reuse strategy and intersection optimization strategy are proposed for the flow path reuse and intersection number optimization problems, respectively, to further improve the quality of routing results. The experimental results show that compared with the latest work PathDriver+, the length of channels, the number of ports used, and the number of channel intersections are significantly reduced by 33.21%, 11.04%, and 44.79%, respectively, and the channel reuse rate is i

Solid-SQL: Enhanced Schema-linking based In-context Learning for Robust Text-to-SQL

Recently, large language models (LLMs) have significantly improved the performance of text-to-SQL systems. Nevertheless, many state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches have overlooked the critical aspect of system robustness. Our experiments reveal that while LLM-driven methods excel on standard datasets, their accuracy is notably compromised when faced with adversarial perturbations. To address this challenge, we propose a robust text-to-SQL solution, called Solid-SQL, designed to integrate with various LLMs. We focus on the pre-processing stage, training a robust schema-linking model enhanced by LLM-based data augmentation. Additionally, we design a two-round, structural similarity-based example retrieval strategy for in-context learning. Our method achieves SOTA SQL execution accuracy levels of 82.1% and 58.9% on the general Spider and Bird benchmarks, respectively. Furthermore, experimental results show that Solid-SQL delivers an average improvement of 11.6% compared to baselines on the perturbed Spider-Syn, Spider-Realistic, and Dr. Spider benchmarks. This paper investigates the optimal tracking performance (OTP) of networked control systems (NCSs) with time delay subjected to multiplicative false data injection (FDI) attacks. An auxiliary model is proposed to preserve the influences of the first and second moments of the attacked channel output through a supplementary additive process. By employing a two-degree-of-freedom control (TDOF) scheme and a frequency-domain analysis approach, a display expression for the OTP of NCSs is derived. It is shown that the OTP has a close relation with the intrinsic characteristic of the plant, time delay, and statistical characteristics of multiplicative false data. Troublemaker Learning for Low-Light Image Enhancement

Low-light image enhancement (LLIE) restores the color and brightness of underexposed images. Supervised methods suffer from high costs in collecting low/normal-light image pairs. Unsupervised methods invest substantial effort in crafting complex loss functions. We address these two challenges through the proposed TroubleMaker Learning (TML) strategy, which employs normal-light images as inputs for training. TML is simple: we first dim the input and then increase its brightness. TML is based on two core components. First, the troublemaker model (TM) constructs pseudo low-light images from normal images to relieve the cost of pairwise data. Second, the predicting model (PM) enhances the brightness of pseudo low-light images. Additionally, we incorporate an enhancing model (EM) to further improve the visual performance of PM outputs. Moreover, in LLIE tasks, characterizing global element correlations is important because more information on the same object can be captured. CNN cannot achieve this well, and self-attention has high time complexity. Accordingly, we propose Global Dynamic Convolution (GDC) with O(n) time complexity, which essentially imitates the partial calculation process of self-attention to formulate elementwise correlations. Based on the GDC module, we build the UGDC model. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate that UGDC trained with TML can achieve competitive performance against state-of-the-art approaches on public datasets.
