Enhanced precipitation responses over the Tibetan Plateau following future Tambora-size volcanic eruption

Hydroclimate over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)notably influences the eco-environment of the Northern *** its high elevation and complex topography,the climate in the TP shows a high sensitivity to anthropogenic warming and volcanic-induced *** mechanism by which a future volcanic or similar radiative perturbation affects precipitation in the TP under an anthropogenic warming climate must be addressed not only to enable regional adaptation but deepen our understanding of how a climate system evolves under such a dual ***,based on the Community Earth System Model version 1.2 and ensemble simulations under pre-industrial and RCP8.5 scenarios,we showed that a Tambora-sized volcanic perturbation led to severe rainfall reduction over the south TP in the following summer(June-August).Evaporation response accounted for a minor and relatively constant share of precipitation reduction following the Clausius-Clapeyron scaling,whereas dynamic processes triggered an El Nino-like response in the eastern equatorial Pacific,which suppressed the Walker and Hadley circulation and contributed to drying *** warming renders the post-Tambora hydroclimate responses with 30%higher severity as a result of the increased climatological moisture content and intensified El Nino response,which enhanced hydroclimate sensitivity and attenuated monsoon *** results illustrate the amplification effect of global warming on the plateau's hydroclimate responses to external forcings,which may add another layer of uncertainty on climate adaptation in this already complex region.

Autonomous vehicles, especially those based on deep reinforcement learning, are known for their susceptibility to the adversarial perturbations. To enhance their robustness, it is imperative to not only detect their decision errors through testing, but also fortify their robustness against these errors. This paper proposes an iterative optimization method that trains multiple adversarial agents with varying adversarial intensities to identify decision errors in the driving vehicle and enhance its robustness by retraining to counteract these adversarial agents. The effectiveness of the method is evaluated in a lane-changing scenario and the results demonstrate improved robustness of deep reinforcement learning based autonomous driving strategies compared to the adversarial reinforcement learning with a single adversary. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Insights into the floatability between spodumene and albite from crystal chemistry standpoint

Spodumene is a silicate mineral rich in ***,the gangue mineral,albite has similar crystal chemical structure and composition to *** this work,the density functional theory(DFT)calculation was taken to research the floatability from the perspective of crystal *** contact angle test and reagent adsorption test were used to support the simulation *** addition,the weighted total density of broken bonds is proposed for the first time to judge the generation probability of cleavage *** DFT calculation results display that the Na and Al sites on the albite surface are the adsorption sites of water *** the water molecules only bond with Al atom on the surface of spodumene and each Al site can adsorb only one water ***,the wetting effect of water molecules on the albite surface is stronger than that of *** is consistent with the result of contact *** sodium oleate system,the oleic acid anion is adsorbed on the spodumene surface in form of a multicomponent ring while the albite is a single ***,oleic acid anion can be strongly adsorbed on the surface of spodumene and albite under *** adsorption strength of spodumene is higher than that of ***,on hydrated surface,the adsorption strength of oleic acid anion on mineral surface is greatly reduced due to the interaction between water molecules and metal site on mineral ***,spodumene and albite are hard to float without external activated ions in sodium oleate system.

This study investigates the optimal allocation problem of attack energy in multi-system remote state estimation for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs). We consider a scenario where there are M independent systems, each equipped with a remote sensor monitoring system. The local estimates from these systems are sent to a remote estimator through a packet loss channel. The objective of the attacker is to degrade the communication channel between the sensors and the remote estimator. Due to capacity limitations, the attacker is restricted to attacking at most one out of M channels. We incorporate interference from other sensors or interference sources into the communication model based on the SINR (Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio) model. It should be noted that the same attack power can lead to different packet loss rates in different network environments. From the attacker's perspective, the goal is to find the optimal attack strategy that maximizes the average estimation error of the remote estimator. Given the uncertainties of wireless network environments, we employ the sequentially-observed Markov decision process (SOMDP) framework to solve the problem. By observing the wireless channels, we gather additional information and incorporate it into the decision-making policy, resulting in better performance than using a standard Markov decision process (MDP). The simulation results support our theoretical findings. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

It is difficult to separate spodumene and albite by flotation with calcium ion as *** this study,microflotation experiment,solution chemistry calculation,density functional theory(DFT)calculation and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis were conducted to investigate the effect mechanism of c alcium hydrolysate on the flotation separation of spodumene and *** show that the weak interaction intensity of Ca^(2+)with O atoms on the mineral surface makes it difficult to activate minerals *** O atom in the hydroxyl group of Ca(OH)^(+)and Ca(OH)_(2)can be strongly bonded with Al atom on the mineral surface,which greatly improves the adsorption *** the activation of Ca(OH)^(+),the adsorption forms of collectors on the surface of spodumene and albite are quite different,and the adsorption intensity on the surface of spodumene is higher,which is conducive to the flotation separation of spodumene and *** the action of Ca(OH)_(2),the adsorption of the collector on the albite surface is stronger than that of spodumene,which is not conducive to the flotation separation of the two *** adjusting the initial concentration of calcium ions and pulp pH,Ca(OH)^(+)is the main active component,which is the key to improve the separation effect of spodumene and albite.

Accurate estimation of gross primary production (GPP, ecosystem level photosynthesis) is critical for monitoring terrestrial ecosystems. However, most of the current models used for GPP estimation are with many unknown parameters and rarely include the effects of soil water stress due to the covariation of soil moisture and air humidity. In addition, grasslands, as the most widely distributed ecosystems in the world, have simple ecosystem structure and are easily affected by soil drought. Therefore, in this paper, we applied photosynthesis-hydrology coordination optimization theory and soil water potential based on soil moisture effect to develop a combined model (PH model) for GPP estimation of grassland ecosystems and used the US-Var grassland ecosystem, one of the FLUXNET sites from January to July 2004 (the driest period in recent years) as an example to validate the model. The results show that the model can effectively track the measured GPP during soil drought period and is better than the result from another commonly used photosynthesis coordination model (P-model) which does not consider the effect of soil drought. Further, we can infer the vegetation photosynthetic capacity parameters including the maximum carboxylation capacity (Vcmax) and the maximum electron-transport capacity (Jmax) under the effect of soil drought. The result also shows that if soil drought is not considered, the photosynthetic capacity parameters of vegetation will be overestimated. These results provide evidence for the application of photosynthesis-hydrology coordination theory in the assessment of ecosystem carbon cycle under the intensified climate changes. © 2024 IEEE.

To enhance the thermo-hydraulic performance of cooling channels,this investigation examines the influence of distinct cross-sectional shapes(i.e.,triangular,rectangular,and hexagonal)of twisted pin fins and their arrangements in straight and cross *** ambient air cooling test platform was established to numerically and experimentally investigate the flow and heat transfer characteristics of 360°twisted pin fins at Re=*** findings reveal that straight rows exhibit higher Nu values than cross rows for triangular and rectangular twisted pin fins,and Nu increases with *** contrast,for hexagonal twisted pin fins,only straight rows at Re=19000 exhibit superior overall thermal performance compared to cross ***,the heat transfer performance of the cooling channel with hexagonal twisted fins surpasses both triangular and rectangular configurations,especially at high Reynolds numbers(Re=22800).Although the heat transfer coefficient of the cooling channel with hexagonal twisted fins is significantly enhanced by 132.71%compared to the flat channel,it also exhibits the highest thermal resistance and relative friction among the three types of twisted fins,the maximum of which are 2.14 and ***,the hydrothermal performance factor(HTPF)of the cooling channels with different types of twisted pin fins depends on the Reynolds number and arrangement *** Re=15200,the highest HTPF achieved for the cross-row hexagonal twisted pin fins is 0.99.

Capsule network is an innovative deep learning-based model that uses neuron vectors as inputs and outputs of the network. It can achieve independent output of multiple classification labels, and solve the problem of decoupling recognition of compound fault components in planetary gearboxes. However, the single-scale feature extraction cannot fully explore multi-scale feature information in compound fault signals. This study proposes a capsule network combined with multi-scale convolutional feature fusion to diagnose the compound fault of planetary gearbox. The multi-scale features are extracted from STFT images of vibration signals using convolutional layers with different kernel sizes;secondly, a capsule network is designed to classify and identify the fault components by using the dynamic routing algorithm. The experiments are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed method, and the results indicates that it can effectively decoupling identify the compound faults with strong anti-interference and stability. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the limited permeability and high methane content of the majority of China’s coal seams,significant coal mining gas disasters frequently *** is an urgent need to artificially improve the permeability of coalbed methane(CBM)reservoirs,enhance the recovery efficiency of CBM and prevent mine gas *** a novel coal rock fracture technology,the CO_(2) phase transition jet(CPTJ)has been widely used due to its advantages of safety and high fragmentation *** this study,to ascertain the effects of the pressure of CPTJ fracturing,the influence of its jet pressure on cracked coal rock was revealed,and its effect on CBM extraction was *** this research,the law of CPTJ pressure decay with time was investigated using experimental and theoretical *** on the results,the displacement and discrete fracture network law of CPTJ fracturing coal rock under different jet pressure conditions were studied using particle flow code numerical ***,field experiments were conducted at the Shamushu coal mine to assess the efficiency of CPTJ in enhancing CBM *** results showed that the pressure of the CPTJ decreased exponentially with time and significantly influenced the number and expansion size of cracks that broke coal rock but not their direction of *** technology can effectively increase the number of connected microscopic pores and fractures in CBM reservoirs,strongly increase the CBM drainage flow rate by between 5.2 and 9.8 times,and significantly reduce the CBM drainage decay coefficient by between 73.58%and 88.24%.

Iterative learning control (ILC) is excellently applied to output tracking for systems that perform repetitive tasks. Classical norm optimal ILC (NOILC) approach yields optimal control inputs by minimizing a quadratic cost function. However, this approach requires the introduction of supervectors, i.e., lifting technique, for system description, which raises a high computational load problem. The contribution of this paper is to propose a non-lifted NOILC (N-NOILC) approach by redesigning a cost function that does not involve the lifting technique, achieving the goal of efficient computation. Therefore, the proposed approach is particularly suitable for large tracking tasks with long trial duration and high sampling frequency. Moreover, considering the model uncertainty in practice, robust convergence is analyzed. Numerical simulations are shown to demonstrate the properties and advantages of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.
