Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a newly emerging concept that provides significant local computing power and reduces end-to-end latency. In MEC environments, caching frequently accessed services on edge servers effectively reduces latency and improves system responsiveness. An ongoing research topic in such a cachable MEC context is to design novel algorithms for yielding high-quality caching decision that guarantee high user-perceived quality-of-service (QoS) and high system responsiveness of delivery of cached content with the difference of caching capacities of edge servers and diversified content popularity appropriately addressed. In this article, we propose a multi-armed bandits learning-based method busing a Thompson sampling for generating caching decisions. We introduce a genetic multi-armed bandits algorithm (GMAB), which synthesizes the genetic algorithm (GA) and multi-armed bandits (MAB), for optimizing caching effectiveness with timing and space constraints. The experiment results show that GMAB outperforms traditional methods in terms of multiple aspects. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In the interdisciplinary field spanning computer vision and art, text-guided image generation techniques have garnered significant attention, particularly in the realms of virtual try-ons and fashion design. Current approaches to text-guided image generation primarily utilize latent space encoding and alignment of text-image feature spaces, which prove effective in general scenarios. However, when tasked with generating images possessing specific fashion attributes, these methods often result in semantic inconsistencies and missing details in the generated clothing images. To address this challenge, this work presents an effective text-guided image generation method based on cross-modal fashion style learning. First, the fashion text encoding module is constructed to represent the input text description as global-local text descriptors to obtain fashion features. Then, a clothing image style representation module is designed to extract coarse-grained, fine-grained, and hierarchical latent features from the input texture patterns and clothing images. Finally, a cross-modal fashion style learning block, integrating the fashion mapping network and the generative adversarial network, is utilized to reinforce semantic consistency and yield clothing images with intricate details. Extensive experiments conducted on the Viton-HD dataset validate that the proposed method significantly outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches, achieving an initial IS score of 5.22 and a Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) of 16.35. Ablation studies and comparative analysis further demonstrate the potential application of our method, specifically in improving the semantic consistency between fashion texts and generated images, as well as enhancing fashion details in the generated images.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) based on simple graph can directly model 3D multispectral point clouds, thus avoiding the problem of 3D spatial information loss when converting 3D point clouds to 2D feature images. However, considering the dense distribution of objects in remote sensing scenes, GNNs only consider the association between pairs of vertices, which is insufficient for exploring high-order correlations and long-term dependence correlations. Hypergraph neural network (HGNN) is a more generalized framework that overcomes the limitations of traditional simple graph. In this paper, we propose a spectral-spatial fusion hypergraph convolutional network (S2FHGCN) for 3D multispectral point cloud classification. S2FHGCN first generates two hypergraphs from multidimensional features including spectral feature and spatial feature, respectively. The hypergraph structure can better handle complex high-order correlations for representation learning. Then the two hypergraphs are fused to obtain global representation information. Finally, the multidimensional features and the fused hypergraph are input to the hypergraph convolution network. The experimental results on real multispectral point clouds demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed S2FHGCN for multispectral point cloud classification. © 2023 IEEE.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

The problem of signal detection and classification of multiple UAVs can be solved using object detection techniques in computer vision. However, this requires collecting and labeling a large amount of reliable raw data. Since the UAV signal dataset cannot be directly applied to object detection, we propose a method using time-frequency domain filtering and automatic labeling to construct a large-scale time-frequency spectrogram dataset. Experimental results show that the average recognition accuracies of image transmission signals and remote control signals under interference conditions are 97% and 82%, respectively, while the average errors of signal parameters are 0.93% and 5.57%. © 2023 IEEE.

A Dataset for the Validation of Truth Inference Algorithms Suitable for Online Deployment

For the purpose of efficient and cost-effective large-scale data labeling, crowdsourcing is increasingly being utilized. To guarantee the quality of data labeling, multiple annotations need to be collected for each data sample, and truth inference algorithms have been developed to accurately infer the true labels. Despite previous studies having released public datasets to evaluate the efficacy of truth inference algorithms, these have typically focused on a single type of crowdsourcing task and neglected the temporal information associated with workers’ annotation activities. These limitations significantly restrict the practical applicability of these algorithms, particularly in the context of long-term and online truth inference. In this paper, we introduce a substantial crowdsourcing annotation dataset collected from a real-world crowdsourcing platform. This dataset comprises approximately two thousand workers, one million tasks, and six million annotations. The data was gathered over a period of approximately six months from various types of tasks, and the timestamps of each annotation were preserved. We analyze the characteristics of the dataset from multiple perspectives and evaluate the effectiveness of several representative truth inference algorithms on this dataset. We anticipate that this dataset will stimulate future research on tracking workers’ abilities over time in relation to different types of tasks, as well as enhancing online truth inference. Accurate weather forecasts are crucial for many aspects of people's lives. Traditional short-term precipitation forecasting methods mainly rely on numerical weather predictions based on meteorological dynamics modelling. However, numerical weather predictions based on high-resolution physical models require hours of computation on supercomputers. Deep learning networks possess strong feature extraction capabilities, directly mapping images, meteorological data, and other information to high-dimensional feature spaces. Neurons extract abstract features, enabling continuous training and learning for predictions. Therefore, deep learning provides a new solution for short-term precipitation forecasting. In the past, deep learning has been used for precipitation forecasting by employing radar echo extension methods; however, these methods are limited to short-term forecasts and do not utilize other meteorological data, resulting in inaccurate predictions. This study proposes a model containing an attention mechanism, a convolutional extended short-term neural network (Att-PredRNN), based on 5.625° (32×64 grid points) resolution ECMWF reanalysis data and three years of global meteorological and daily precipitation data. The network uses multiple meteorological fields as input factors to predict spatial precipitation distribution for 24-hour precipitation forecasting. The model significantly improves the capture of spatial and temporal correlations through the attention matrices focusing on different parts of the input sequence. Experimental results show that the proposed Att-PredRNN model outperforms other comparison models in terms of RMSE, CSI, POD, and FAR overall and dramatically enhances the accuracy of short-term precipitation forecasts. Our code and data are publicly available.

We propose a novel siamese generative adversarial net for abstractive text summarization (SSPGAN), which can preserve the main semantics of the source text. Different from previous generative adversarial net based methods, SSPGAN is equipped with a siamese semanticpreserving discriminator, which can not only be trained to discriminate the machine-generated summaries from the human-summarized ones, but also ensure the semantic consistency between the source text and target summary. As a consequence of the min-max game between the generator and the siamese semantic-preserving discriminator, the generator can generate a summary that conveys the key content of the source text more accurately. Extensive experiments on several text summarization benchmarks in different languages demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Findings of the Association for Computational Linguistics: NAACL 2022 - Findings.

This paper presents a novel design scheme for a decodable self-resetting Regfile circuit that aims to reduce the power consumption caused by massive data and high computing power. The scheme consists of three steps: first, it analyzes the working principle and the energy consumption process of the decoding circuit;second, it proposes a self-resetting decoding circuit structure that uses the clock to control the decoding state and automatically resets when the clock is low, thus avoiding the extra power consumption due to the inversion of the memory cell state during the non-working period of the decoding circuit;third, it implements a two-read, two-write, decodable self-resetting Regfile circuit using a full-custom design method under the TSMC 7nm FinFET process. The experimental results demonstrate that the circuit has an area of 5593μm2 and an energy-delay product of 0.41pJ•nS, and it can operate stably at 4GHz under various temperatures and process corner conditions. © 2023 IEEE.
