This paper solves the event-triggered robust consensus problem of disturbed multi-agent systems (MASs) in fully distributed fashion. First, a distributed extended state observer (DESO) is developed for appropriately estimating system states and external disturbances. Then, by utilising these estimates, a fully distributed event-triggering control protocol, that composes of an adaptive distributed controller to avoid using global information while maintaining desired consensus property, and a novel hybrid dynamic event-triggering mechanism (ETM) to save communication resources, is put forward for the MASs. It is notable that an auxiliary differential equation is incorporated in the triggering condition, with which, positive minimum interevent times (MIETs) are available to ease the hardware implementation, while being with adaptive coefficients, the proposed hybrid dynamic ETM can be independent of any global information. Finally, the obtained main results are testified via a numerical example. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Whale optimisation algorithm with role labour division for multimodal optimisation

The multimodal optimisation problem challenges the balance between diversity and convergence, which poses a great degree of challenge to traditional population-based intelligence optimisers. The whale optimisation algorithm has the limitation of easily falling into local optimum when facing multimodal optimisation. To address this problem, this paper proposes a whale optimisation algorithm with role labour division (WOA-RDL). In WOA-RDL, a multi-stage role division of labour mechanism is designed to divide the optimisation process into two stages of group hunting. In the first stage, the task allocation in the hunting process is considered as two types of search tasks: exploration and exploitation. The external environmental stimulus of the task and the internal response threshold of the individual were designed to allow individuals to switch between exploration and exploitation tasks flexibly. In the second stage, the distribution mechanism of different roles was designed to simulate the 'strong to weak' distribution rule for the distribution of results after the hunt. The elite roles are selected to further strengthen their capabilities or remain robust, while the inferior roles are predicted and eliminated to improve the overall optimisation of the population and reduce the risk of falling into a local optimum. The results of the optimisation experiments using multimodal, unimodal, CEC2017 combined functions and CEC2009 dynamic functions to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. Surrogate-Assisted Multiobjective Gene Selection for Cell Classification From Large-Scale Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Data

Accurate cell classification is crucial but expensive for large-scale single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Gene selection (GS) emerges as a pivotal technique in identifying gene subsets of scRNA-seq for classification accuracy improvement and gene scale reduction. Nevertheless, the rising scale of scRNA-seq data presents challenges to existing GS methods regarding performance and computational time. Thus, we propose a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective GS to address these deficiencies. An innovative two-phase initialization method is proposed to select sparse solutions to provide preliminary insights into gene contributions. Then, a binary competitive swarm optimizer is proposed for effective global search, where a local search method is embedded to eliminate irrelevant genes for efficiency consideration. Additionally, a surrogate model is adopted to forecast classification accuracy efficiently and substitutes part of the computationally expensive classification process. Experiments are conducted on eight large-scale scRNA-seq datasets with more than 20 000 genes. The effectiveness of the proposed GS method for scRNA-seq cell classification compared with eight state-of-the-art methods is validated. Gene expression analysis results of selected genes further validated the significance of the genes selected by the proposed method in the classification of scRNA-seq data. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, high-speed train is regarded as a single prime point, a new tracking control method combining adaptive control and Kalman filtering is proposed. This paper solves the noise interference problem in the tracking control process of high-speed train. The method first linearises the original system, then uses Kalman filtering to do model estimation, and the controller is designed for the predictive model through adaptive control. Finally, MATLAB is used to simulate and verify the effectiveness of this method. This proposed method successfully solves the problems of nonlinearity, noise interference and unknown parameters in system. The error caused by resistance in the high-speed train tracking control process can be dealt with effectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Learning Probabilistic Coordinate Fields for Robust Correspondences

We introduce Probabilistic Coordinate Fields (PCFs), a novel geometric-invariant coordinate representation for image correspondence problems. In contrast to standard Cartesian coordinates, PCFs encode coordinates in correspondence-specific barycentric coordinate systems (BCS) with affine invariance. To know when and where to trust the encoded coordinates, we implement PCFs in a probabilistic network termed PCF-Net, which parameterizes the distribution of coordinate fields as Gaussian mixture models. By jointly optimizing coordinate fields and their confidence conditioned on dense flows, PCF-Net can work with various feature descriptors when quantifying the reliability of PCFs by confidence maps. An interesting observation of this work is that the learned confidence map converges to geometrically coherent and semantically consistent regions, which facilitates robust coordinate representation. By delivering the confident coordinates to keypoint/feature descriptors, we show that PCF-Net can be used as a plug-in to existing correspondence-dependent approaches. Extensive experiments on both indoor and outdoor datasets suggest that accurate geometric invariant coordinates help to achieve the state of the art in several correspondence problems, such as sparse feature matching, dense image registration, camera pose estimation, and consistency filtering. Further, the interpretable confidence map predicted by PCF-Net can also be leveraged to other novel applications from texture transfer to multi-homography classification. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Game-based Secondary control for DC Microgrids with Nash Equilibrium

Voltage regulation and current sharing are two major issues when designing distributed control strategies for DC microgrids. However, power supply economy of local generators also needs to be considered. In this paper, a game-based framework is constructed, where multiple generators are regarded as the participants with secondary control signals being the game actions. A distributed secondary control algorithm is proposed, while information mask is introduced to avoid transmitting true control signal to neighbors. Then, payoff function is designed for each generator, which is composed of voltage regulation error, current sharing error and the local generation cost. It is proved that under the proposed secondary control algorithm in conjunction with the payoff function, a unique Nash equilibrium can be reached. Consequently, the minimum of the payoff function can be achieved, where the optimization of system control behavior and local economic operation can be realized simultaneously. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed secondary control strategy within several scenarios. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

The research of fuel cell and lithium battery hybrid system has attracted more and more researchers because of its advantages of low emission. However, the lower efficiency of energy management has been a critical factor that obstruct the commercialization of hybrid system. In this work, based on finite element ideas, a solid oxide full cell node model is developed to accurately estimate the operating status of the fuel cell. As for lithium battery, previous energy management studies generally only focused on state of charge, however, state of health is also a key parameter for lithium battery. In this paper, considering the strong coupling between variables we use particle filter algorithm to jointly estimate the state of charge and state of health. To reasonably distribute and manage the energy in the hybrid system, a T-S fuzzy controller for the hybrid system is designed by controlling the state variables in the SOFC model and the state of lithium battery. Finally, our algorithm is verified by DSPACE simulation platform. The result shows that the hybrid system with the energy management strategy not only meets the real-time sharply changing demand but also ensures the hybrid system working efficiently and safely. © 2022 China Electric Power Research Institute. In this paper, we want to strengthen an autonomous vehicle’s lane-change ability with limited lane changes performed by the autonomous system. In other words, our task is bootstrapping the predictability of lane-change feasibility for the autonomous vehicle. Unfortunately, autonomous lane changes happen much less frequently in autonomous runs than in manual-driving runs. Augmented runs serve well in terms of data augmentation: the number of samples generated from augmented runs in a single one is comparable with that of samples retrieved from real runs in a month. In this paper, we formulate the Lane-Change Feasibility Prediction problem and also propose a data-driven learning approach to solve it. Experimental results are also presented to show the effectiveness of learned lane-change patterns for the decision making. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Improved beluga whale optimization algorithm based cluster routing in wireless sensor networks

Cluster routing is a critical routing approach in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, the uneven distribution of selected cluster head nodes and impractical data transmission paths can result in uneven depletion of network energy. For this purpose, we introduce a new routing strategy for clustered wireless sensor networks that utilizes an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm, called tCBWO-DPR. In the selection process of cluster heads, we introduce a new excitation function to evaluate and select more suitable candidate cluster heads by establishing the correlation between the energy of node and the positional relationship of nodes. In addition, the beluga whale optimization (BWO) algorithm has been improved by incorporating the cosine factor and t-distribution to enhance its local and global search capabilities, as well as to improve its convergence speed and ability. For the data transmission path, we use Prim’s algorithm to construct a spanning tree and introduce DPR for determining the optimal route between cluster heads based on the correlation distances of cluster heads. This effectively shortens the data transmission path and enhances network stability. Simulation results show that the improved beluga whale optimization based algorithm can effectively improve the survival cycle and reduce the average energy consumption of the network. © 2024 the Author(s).
