image restoration is a classic foundational visual task, aimed at recovering damaged images, such as those affected by compression, blurring, or noise, to high-definition clarity. Although current image enhancement techniques largely rely on convolutional neural networks, the efficient capabilities of Transformers demonstrated in complex visual tasks have not yet been extensively applied in the field of image restoration. This paper presents an optimized image restoration strategy based on the SwinlR model, which is applied to the task of underwater image restoration. In the shallow feature extraction phase, deep separable convolution technology is employed; while in the deep feature extraction phase, a Spatial Gated Feedforward Network (SGFN) is utilized. The experimental data suggests that the novel approach surpasses conventional techniques in effectiveness and has effectively minimized both the model's parameter quantity and computational demands.

This paper explores distributed neighbor selection in matrix-weighted networks, where a matrix-valued weight captures the interdependencies among agents' states. We demonstrate the feasibility of preserving and, in certain cases, improving the convergence rate of matrix-weighted networks by having agents exclusively engage with a subset of their neighbors. Leveraging the inherent monotonicity of Laplacian matrix eigenvectors, we introduce a novel neighbor selection criterion that reduces network connections while enhancing convergence rates. Existing neighbor selection strategies often require acquiring information from all nodes before making decisions. In order to propose a distributed neighbor selection strategy for matrix-weighted networks, we establish a numerical relationship between Laplacian eigenvectors and a locally measurable metric. In essence, this paper extends prior findings from scalar-weighted networks to matrix-weighted networks. © 2023 IEEE.

Liver tumors are the most common and fatal ones globally, bringing great harm to human life. In order to ascertain the precise location, size, and volume of tumors, the conventional method of manual segmentation necessitates that physicians delineate the tumor boundaries within the patients’ abdominal CT scans, a process that demands considerable expenditure of time and effort on the part of the medical staff. A method harnessing the U-Net neural network, predicated on deep learning, has been introduced in this study to augment the accuracy and efficiency of liver tumor segmentation in imaging. The U-Net network has been enhanced with the incorporation of Adam optimization and callback mechanisms to bolster the training efficacy and preserve the most effective model. Furthermore, the implementation of the binary crossentropy loss function has been pivotal for optimizing the neural network's convergence and predictive accuracy, which in turn has led to enhanced segmentation results. The experimental findings suggest that the proposed method is capable of automating the segmentation of liver tumor images, including the precise delineation of tumors and those with indistinct margins, achieving a segmentation accuracy of 99.64%.

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) is a successful paradigm that can use unlabelled data to alleviate the labelling cost problem in supervised learning. However, the excellent performance brought by SSL does not transfer well to the task of class imbalance. The reason is that the class bias of pseudo-labelling further misleads the decision boundary. To solve this problem, we propose a new plug-and-play approach to handle the class imbalance problem based on a theoretical extension and analysis of distribution alignment. The method, called Basis Transformation Based Distribution Alignment (BTDA), efficiently aligns class distributions while taking into account inter-class *** implements the basis transformation through a learnable transfer matrix, thereby reducing the performance loss caused by pseudo-labelling biases. Extensive experiments show that our proposed BTDA approach can significantly improve performance in class imbalance tasks in terms of both accuracy and recall metrics when integrated with advanced SSL algorithms. Although the idea of BTDA is not complex, it can show advanced performance on datasets such as CIFAR and SVHN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

With the rise of the Internet of Things (loT) and digital homes, smart home technology has also advanced. Smart homes can proactively sense people's needs, providing users with a more comfortable and secure living environment, while also saving energy and enhancing safety, thereby greatly improving the quality of life. Thanks to loT technology, smart home devices can connect to the home network, enabling data sharing and centralized control. This project applies ZigBee and MQTT protocols to the field of smart homes, achieving intelligent control and remote control of devices such as lighting, appliances, and security. The ZigBee protocol is used for networking, connecting terminal nodes in the facility layer with the coordinator node, while the MQTT protocol is used to connect the coordinator node to the internet. This project has realized remote control, intelligent control, and smart security of the home system, providing users with a more convenient and comfortable home experience.

In recent years, artificial intelligence technologies, especially facial recognition, have made significant strides. With its high precision and efficiency, facial recognition has shown great potential and advantages in areas such as identity verification and behavior analysis. Classroom learning is the main channel through which students acquire knowledge, develop skills, and improve their competencies. A well-organized classroom attendance system is essential for ensuring the effective implementation and smooth execution of teaching plans. This system is based on an OpenCV and PyQt5 facial recognition client, utilizing the LBPH algorithm to achieve efficient facial recognition. In addition to providing a simple check-in function, the system offers a complete registration process and data management features. In practical use, students simply need to check in by facing the camera, allowing the system to automatically recognize the student's face and record the attendance data. This significantly simplifies the check-in process for both teachers and students, thereby improving classroom management efficiency.

In view of the problems of high energy consumption, long inventory time and low production efficiency in the production process of traditional aluminum extrusion machine, this paper establishes an efficient two-stage parallel scheduling optimization model based on the integration of flexible job shop scheduling and assembly sequence planning (IFJSS-ASP). On this basis, an evolutionary algorithm combining strong dominance relationship and simple grouping method (SDREA-SGM) is proposed. The algorithm utilizes a two-stage hybrid chromosome encoding and decoding method to establish a rational mapping from the decision space to the solution space. Furthermore, in order to prevent the model from easily falling into local optima, an adaptive intra-class and inter-class pairing selection strategy has been adopted by the algorithm. This enhances global search and improves local search ***, the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm are verified by solving problems of different scales. © 2024 IEEE.

Late Better than Early: A Decision-Level Information Fusion Approach for Rgb-Thermal Crowd Counting with Illumination Awareness

In this paper, we make the first research effort to address the RGB-Thermal (RGB-T) crowd counting problem with decision-level late fusion manner. Being different from the existing pixel-level or feature-level fusion methods, our proposition chooses to fuse the density maps yielded by RGB and thermal counterparts via spatially adaptive weighting with RGB illumination-aware attention. Our key intuition to conduct RGB-T density map fusion lies in 3 main folders. First, compared with the raw RGB-T images or convolutional feature maps, RGB-T density maps contain stronger counting-wise semantic meanings. Secondly, they are also of high spatial resolution for revealing fine local details. Thirdly, RGB-T density maps are complementary to each other for effective counting pattern characterization. To fuse them adaptively, a spatial weighting map is generated concerning the issues of RGB illumination awareness and local counting pattern characterization ability jointly. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to leverage RGB-T crowd counting via concerning these 2 issues in a unified way. Meanwhile, cross-modality feature interaction is conducted between RGB and thermal modalities to facilitate spatial weighting map generation. The experiments on 2 well-established RGB-T crowd counting datasets, i.e., RGBT-CC and DroneRGBT) verify the superiority of our proposition. Large-scale multiobjective optimization problems (LSMOPs) exist widely in real-world applications. The large number of decision variables in LSMOP leads to a tremendous high-dimensional search space, which is still challenging for existing multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). The voltage transformer ratio error estimation (TREE) problem is a typical LSMOP in real-world applications. A number of large-scale multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (LSMOEAs) have been adopted for solving the TREE problem, but so far there is still considerable potential for improvement in their results. In this paper, we propose a informed initialization for solving the TREE problem. The physical properties of the TREE problem are used to construct an initial set of solutions with specific characteristics. The proposed initialization method is tested against the default initialization method on five TREE problems by being applied on six state-of-the-art LSMOEAs and a classical MOEA. The experimental results demonstrate that the initialization method has a significant effect on the performance of LSMOEAs in solving the TREE problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
