In this paper, genetic algorithm and modified dynamic programming are applied to path planning of robotic fish for the first time. Using grid method to the environment modeling and applying genetic algorithm to the path planning, an optimal or sub-optimal robot path can be obtained. Since the robotic fish can't track linear motion, the robot path can be seen as several circular arc. Based on the optimal path obtained via genetic algorithm, modified dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to calculate the shortest circular arc path, fish velocity and direction in every step. Finally the experiment on the robotic fish control software shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper researches the consensus problem of high-order multi-agent systems. A new dynamic neighbor-based protocol is proposed which contains two parts, one is the local feedback and the other is the distributed feedback of the first states of each agent. Sufficient conditions are derived for state consensus of the system. Finally, simulation results are shown the effectiveness of the obtained results. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

Multi-Objective Optimization for Tandem Cold Rolling Schedule

Considering the multivariable, strong-coupled, and nonlinear features of tandem cold rolling mill, a mathematical model of multi-objective optimization was built to facilitate the design of new systems aiming at equating the relative load, preventing slip, and obtaining best shape. BP （back propagation） neural network based on Levenberg- Marquardt algorithm was used for predicting the rolling force. The multi-objective fuzzy theory and method were introduced during the optimization. With an example of 1 370 mm tandem cold rolling mill, the rolling schedule of the common rolling, the single-objective optimization design, and the multi-objective fuzzy optimization design were compared with each other. The results generated from the case study showed that the proposed approach could significantly decreased the values of three objective functions simultaneously and the performance of the optimal rolling schedule was satisfactory and promising. Moreover, the capability and usefulness of fuzzy application in tandem cold rolling schedule were clearly demonstrated.

In this paper, we propose a coordinate-free distributed boundary detection algorithm (CDBD). It adopts general sensing and communication models and exploits two centrality measures, i.e., betweenness and closeness. For CDBD, each node only needs to communicate with its k-hop neighbors twice and makes decision whether it itself is a boundary node independently. CDBD has advantages of fast convergence and low communication overhead. Extensive simulation demonstrates the desirable performance of CDBD.

The copious social and user generated contents, like Facebook and Youtube, are re-shaping the way people share, access, and digest information. Although flourishing in Internet, content sharing services are still considered expensive and not ready for mobile users of vehicular networks. In this paper, we propose VTube, an autonomous and cost-effective infrastructure, to facilitate the localized content publish/subscribe in an urban area. VTube relies on the distributed low-cost light-weight storage buffers, namely roadside buffer, installed in the city facilities, such as stores, museums, cafeteria, etc., to cache and publish contents for mobile users. The contents at different storage buffers are then transported to different locations by moving vehicles and cached collaboratively in both vehicles and storage buffers across the city. In this work, we unfold the design of VTube by first presenting the detailed design principles and practices of VTube. Given the content availability and capacity of the buffer storage, we then develop a mathematical model to evaluate the mean download delay of mobile users. Using the delay as an input, we formulate the content replication problem in roadside buffers as a stochastic programming problem to attain the mean system-wide minimum download delay. Finally, we propose a fully distributed random walk based algorithm to solve the optimization problem. Extensive simulations demonstrate that VTube can minimize the download delay of users because of the exploitation of vehicle mobility and distributed buffer storage at different locations.

Mean-field Theory for Some Bus Transport Networks with Random Overlapping Clique Structure

Transport networks, such as railway networks and airport networks, are a kind of random network with complex topology. Recently, more and more scholars paid attention to various kinds of transport networks and try to explore their inherent characteristics. Here we study the exponential properties of a recently introduced Bus Transport Networks （BTNs） evolution model with random overlapping clique structure, which gives a possible explanation for the observed exponential distribution of the connectivities of some BTNs of three major cities in China. Applying mean-field theory, we analyze the BTNs model and prove that this model has the character of exponential distribution of the connectivities, and develop a method to predict the growth dynamics of the individual vertices, and use this to calculate analytically the connectivity distribution and the exponents. By comparing mean-field based theoretic results with the statistical data of real BTNs, we observe that, as a whole, both of their data show similar character of exponential distribution of the connectivities, and their exponents have same order of magnitude, which show the availability of the analytical result of this paper.

This paper studies consensus control problems for a class of second-order multi-agent systems without relative velocity measurement. Some dynamic neighbour-based rules are adopted for the agents in the presence of external disturbances. A sufficient condition is derived to make all agents achieve consensus while satisfying desired H∞ performance. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to show the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

To find a useful index for real-time monitoring of anesthesia depth by analysing time-frequency balanced spectral entropy(TBSE) and permutation entropy(PE) of electroencephalogram (EEG). EEG signals of patients during general anesthesia were randomly chosen and recorded as the subjects. The TBSEs of EEG corresponding to different depths of anesthesia were studied and the relationship between TBSE and the depths of anesthesia were analysed. The results show that while the depth of anesthesia increases the TBSE of EEG will decrease. TBSE can be applied to detect the depth of anesthesia sensitively. The algorithm of PE is highly resistant to strong transient interference, so it can be used as a practical index for on line monitoring of the depth of anesthesia in clinical practice.

Hoisting system is the key part of the girder hoister, and its reliability determines the stability and security of the girder hoister directly. Hoisting system consists of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components. Owing to the multiple and complex failure modes and mechanisms of the components, the hoisting system's reliability evaluation is accomplished by Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) based on T-S model. Failure probabilities can be described as fuzzy possibilities and fault degrees are expressed in terms of fuzzy numbers, while events' relationships are described by T-S gates instead of conventional logic gates. A method to acquire knowledge about the premise and consequent events is given, in terms of fuzzy rules of T-S gates made up of fuzzy possibilities and fault degrees of components. Fuzzy possibilities of the intermediate events and the top event are computed by MATLAB, in terms of information about field experiences and expert data. Considering the influence of fault degrees to the system at the same time, it offers reference to find and improve relevant weaknesses of the system, thus the dependability of the whole hoisting system is improved. © 2010 IEEE.

Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs) are service-oriented environments, where sensors request actors to service their detected events and actors move to deliver the desired services. Because of their openness and unattended nature, these networks are vulnerable to various security attacks. In this paper we address service fraud attacks for the first time, whose objective is to stop the normal use of actor services by fake service requests and/or delivery. To mitigate this type of security attacks, we propose a novel cooperative authentication scheme. With the scheme, a sensor's service request is cooperatively authenticated by the sensors that witness the same event, and an actor's service delivery effort is cooperatively authenticated by the sensors that witness the actor's behavior. Considering the presence of compromised sensor/actor nodes, the trustworthiness of each authenticated service delivery process is subject to location consistency check and witness diversity check. It may then be taken into account to adjust the corresponding actor's trust rating so as to influence future actor service selection. We analyze the communication overhead and the security strength of the scheme. We show that our scheme ensures fraud-resistant actor services in our considered WSAN environment.
