False claims that have been previously fact-checked can still spread on social media. To mitigate their continual spread, detecting previously fact-checked claims is indispensable. Given a claim, existing works retrieve fact-checking articles (FC-articles) for detection and focus on reranking candidate articles in the typical two-stage retrieval framework. However, their performance may be limited as they ignore the following characteristics of FC-articles: (1) claims are often quoted to describe the checked events, providing lexical information besides semantics;and (2) sentence templates to introduce or debunk claims are common across articles, providing pattern information. In this paper, we propose a novel reranker, MTM (Memoryenhanced Transformers for Matching), to rank FC-articles using key sentences selected using event (lexical and semantic) and pattern information. For event information, we propose to finetune the Transformer with regression of ROUGE. For pattern information, we generate pattern vectors as a memory bank to match with the parts containing patterns. By fusing event and pattern information, we select key sentences to represent an article and then predict if the article fact-checks the given claim using the claim, key sentences, and patterns. Experiments on two real-world datasets show that MTM outperforms existing methods. Human evaluation proves that MTM can capture key sentences for explanations. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have significantly advanced computer vision tasks, but their increasing complexity poses challenges for efficient inference, particularly on resource-constrained devices. We present DualConvNet, a novel CNN architecture that enhances inference efficiency through two key innovations: compressed convolutions and reparameterization. Compressed convolutions reduce computational complexity by selectively processing input channel subsets during both training and inference. For inference, we introduce a reparameterization technique that merges the multi-branch structure into a single, efficient operation, significantly improving speed. Experiments on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, and ImageNet-1k demonstrate DualConvNet's effectiveness, consistently outperforming state-of-the-art models in both accuracy and inference speed. On the COCO dataset, DualConvNet shows competitive accuracy in object detection and instance segmentation tasks while substantially reducing GPU latency. Ablation studies validate the impact of our dual-strategy approach, revealing significant improvements in both accuracy and computational efficiency compared to alternative designs. These results demonstrate DualConvNet's effectiveness in improving inference efficiency while maintaining high accuracy across various tasks and datasets, making it particularly suitable for real-time applications in resource-constrained scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

Stereo Image Super-Resolution (SSR) holds great promise in improving the quality of stereo images by exploiting the complementary information between left and right views. Most SSR methods primarily focus on the inter-view correspondences in low-resolution (LR) space. The potential of referencing a high-quality SR image of one view benefits the SR for the other is often overlooked, while those with abundant textures contribute to accurate correspondences. Therefore, we propose Reference-based Iterative Interaction (RIISSR), which utilizes reference-based iterative pixel-wise and patch-wise matching, dubbed $P^{2}$ -Matching, to establish cross-view and cross-resolution correspondences for SSR. Specifically, we first design the information perception block (IPB) cascaded in parallel to extract hierarchical contextualized features for different views. Pixel-wise matching is embedded between two parallel IPBs to exploit cross-view interaction in LR space. Iterative patch-wise matching is then executed by utilizing the SR stereo pair as another mutual reference, capitalizing on the cross-scale patch recurrence property to learn high-resolution (HR) correspondences for SSR performance. Moreover, we introduce the supervised side-out modulator (SSOM) to re-weight local intra-view features and produce intermediate SR images, which seamlessly bridge two matching mechanisms. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of RIISSR against existing state-of-the-art methods.

Enterprises currently face the challenge of reducing production cycles and costs and utilizing existing cases for making changes and iterations has emerged as a viable solution. However, the acquisition and modification of historical cases present their challenges. To address this, the present paper proposes an intelligent design method based on reinforcement learning that aims to meet the demand for efficient and high-quality design solutions in the field of engineering design. This method comprises four key steps: case characterization, matching, retrieval, and selection. By employing case characterization and matching, users can acquire sets of similar cases that align closely with their specific requirements. Building upon this foundation incorporates a combination of reinforcement learning and weight order cross-reconstruction to generate more proposals. Subsequently, the multi-attribute decision-making method is utilized to select the extended set of design schemes. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through its successful application to a radar design case.

Digital transformation in manufacturing has become a trend with the continuous development of cloud computing and edge computing. The production process of firearms components is highly challenging and quality problems in the production process may directly affect the safety of people's lives and property. Thus, this paper proposes a production-quality early warning method for firearms components based on cloud-edge collaboration. Real-time early warning and rapid processing for abnormal conditions in the production process are realized based on cloud data analysis and edge intelligent prediction, thereby improving production efficiency and quality. The cloud edge collaboration framework is developed for cloud training of the long short-term memory models and real-time sample edge acquisition, enhancing the adaptability of quality early warning algorithms under specific conditions and the real-time quality of early warning for firearms components. © 2023 ACM.

Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor. © 2024 IEEE.

AAV-Assisted Joint Mobile Edge Computing and data Collection via Matching-Enabled Deep Reinforcement Learning

Autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) and data collection (DC) have been popular research issues. Different from existing works that consider MEC and DC scenarios separately, this article investigates a multi-AAV-assisted joint MEC-DC system. Specifically, we formulate a joint optimization problem to minimize the MEC latency and maximize the collected data volume. This problem can be classified as a nonconvex mixed integer programming problem that exhibits long-term optimization and dynamics. Thus, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based approach that jointly optimizes the AAV movement, user transmit power, and user association in real time to solve the problem efficiently. Specifically, we reformulate the optimization problem into an action space-reduced Markov decision process (MDP) and optimize the user association by using a two-phase matching-based association (TMA) strategy. Subsequently, we propose a soft actor-critic (SAC)-based approach that integrates the proposed TMA strategy (SAC-TMA) to solve the formulated joint optimization problem collaboratively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SAC-TMA is able to coordinate the two subsystems and can effectively reduce the system latency and improve the DC volume compared with other benchmark algorithms.

Learning from Semi-Factuals: A Debiased and Semantic-Aware Framework for Generalized Relation Discovery

We introduce a novel task, called Generalized Relation Discovery (GRD), for open-world relation extraction. GRD aims to identify unlabeled instances in existing pre-defined relations or discover novel relations by assigning instances to clusters as well as providing specific meanings for these clusters. The key challenges of GRD are how to mitigate the serious model biases caused by labeled pre-defined relations to learn effective relational representations and how to determine the specific semantics of novel relations during classifying or clustering unlabeled instances. We then propose a novel framework, SFGRD, for this task to solve the above issues by learning from semi-factuals in two stages. The first stage is semi-factual generation implemented by a tri-view debiased relation representation module, in which we take each original sentence as the main view and design two debiased views to generate semi-factual examples for this sentence. The second stage is semi-factual thinking executed by a dual-space tri-view collaborative relation learning module, where we design a cluster-semantic space and a class-index space to learn relational semantics and relation label indices, respectively. In addition, we devise alignment and selection strategies to integrate two spaces and establish a self-supervised learning loop for unlabeled data by doing semi-factual thinking across three views. Extensive experimental results show that SFGRD surpasses state-of-the-art models in terms of accuracy by 2.36% ∼5.78% and cosine similarity by 32.19%∼ 84.45% for relation label index and relation semantic quality, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to exploit the efficacy of semi-factuals in relation extraction. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The remaining useful life (RUL) of bearings is critical to the proper operation of mechanical equipment, maintenance of equipment costs and availability. The existing domain adaptation methods have had great success in RUL prediction. However, when the target bearing data are unavailable or unknown to be involved in model training, the domain adaptation approaches also incapable. To solve the problem, we propose a parallel reversible instance normalization method based on adaptive threshold stage division for remaining useful life prediction of unknown bearings. First, we design an adaptive threshold method to find degradation points to divide the healthy and degradation stages. Then according to time series, we merge the original vibration data and its instance normalized data to increase the data distribution diversity. Finally, we combine instance normalization and parallel reversible normalization of the source bearing data into unified RUL learning framework to solve the uncertainty of counterfactual data and improve RUL prediction performance. The results show that the method is superior to the state-of-the-art methods for RUL prediction of unknown bearings.

Utilizing computer vision technologies for machinery missing part detection has been a hot research topic recently. Most of existing methods take images as input and utilize 2D object detection pipelines for detecting fault regions. However, 2D models can't handle the situation when occlusion exists. To tackle the issue, in this paper, we propose a novel model named MPDNet, which exploits 3D point cloud pairs as input for missing part detection. In MPDNet, the missing part detection problem is transformed into a binary segmentation problem. The key idea behind our approach is that difference between two point clouds can be fully perceived in the latent feature space if they are encoded by the same encoder. Specially, we firstly propose a shared encode and abnormal lift module to find and enlarge difference between the target point cloud to be diagnosed and its corresponding predefined source point cloud without any fault. Then an attention based decoder is proposed to segment the source point cloud into two clusters: points that are missing in the target point cloud and points that are preserved in the target point cloud. Meanwhile, to make the model robust, a point cloud construction module is proposed as an auxiliary task to help the shared encoder to learn more discriminative features. Experiments on both synthetic and real world datasets have demonstrated the effectiveness of our model.
