For the high density of users and accompanying network service requirements in the cellular system, Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a promising technology to cope with the increasing wireless traffic demands by reusing spectrum resources. In practice, the wireless signal is easy to be eavesdropped in D2D communications underlaying cellular networks, hence, ensuring a secure communication for cellular user equipments (CUEs) is an urgent and meaningful problem. In this paper, we propose a joint subcarrier and power allocation scheme for maximizing the sum data rate of D2D pairs, meanwhile protecting the CUEs against eavesdropping. Specifically, in the proposed scheme, we first quantify the security performance with the secrecy data rate, and obtain the closed-form expression for the optimal power allocation of CUEs and D2D pairs by tightening the quality of service (QoS) and secrecy rate requirement constraints of CUEs. Based on the obtained power allocation solution, by searching the optimal mapping relationship between CUEs and D2D pairs, we develop a subcarrier assignment strategy with the Hungarian algorithm to solve it, which can further enhance the sum data rate of D2D pairs. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can significantly yield better performance than other schemes.

Few clustering methods show good performance on multivariate time series (MTS) data. Traditional methods rely too much on similarity measures and perform poorly on the MTS data with complex structures. This paper proposes an MTS clustering algorithm based on graph embedding called MTSC-GE to improve the performance of MTS clustering. MTSC-GE can map MTS samples to the feature representations in a low-dimensional space and then cluster them. While mining the information of the samples themselves, MTSC-GE builds the whole time series data into a graph, paying attention to the connections between samples from an overall perspective and discovering the local structural feature of MTS data. The proposed MTSC-G E consists of three stages. The first stage builds a graph using the original dataset, where each of the MTS samples is regarded as a node in the graph. The second stage uses the graph embedding technique to obtain a new representation of each node. Finally, MTSC-G E uses the K - Means algorithm to cluster based on the newly obtained representation. We compare MTSC-GE with six state-of-the-art benchmark methods on five public datasets, experimental results show that MTSC-GE has achieved good performance.

In recent years, group communication has become more and more popular. In the current data center network, multicast plays an extremely important role in group communication. Traditional data center network is designed based on wires. Researchers have proposed Dcell, Bcube and other data center topologies successively. However, in the traditional data center network, the wired topology structure has the disadvantages of high overhead, complex deployment, high maintenance cost, slow heat dissipation and so on. Moreover, the existing wireless data center Flyways structure and Graphite structure have the problems of low connectivity and poor scalability. So this paper proposes and designs a new data center network topology Comb structure (Comb model is a multi-layer cellular structure model, which is a multi-layer structure composed of single-layer honeycomb-like structure interlaced with each other). The structure can effectively improve the connectivity of the data center, shorten the routing path, reduce the probability of node failure in the network, and ensure the smooth network. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

In the future mobile communication system, inter-cell interference becomes a serious problem due to the intensive deployment of cells and terminals. Traditional interference coordination schemes take long time for optimization in ultra-dense networks. Meanwhile, due to the increase of factors affecting communication and in order to better meet the communication needs of each terminal, an interference coordination scheme needs to fully consider multiple characteristic parameters of the terminal, which will further increase the scheme’s computational time. Therefore, we should compress all the data through sparsification of parameters before optimization. There are many terminal parameters, and the essence of sparsification of parameters is to rank terminals. In this paper, a graph-based terminal ranking scheme is designed. First, each terminal can be represented by its multiple parameters. Then, all terminals are used as the vertexes in the graph to form a complete weighted graph, and edge weights represent the degree of dissimilarity between terminals. A ranking of terminals is obtained by finding a minimum Hamiltonian path in the graph. Finally, the ranking of all parameter sequences is obtained according to terminals ranking, which makes the sparsity of all parameter sequences better. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can accomplish sparsification of parameter sequences effectively, especially when the number of sequences increases. In addition, compared with the optimal coordination of traditional scheme, this scheme improves the fairness of the system while ensuring high system capacity, and dramatically reduces the computational time of interference coordination. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2020.

Diffusion models are powerful generative models, and this capability can also be applied to discrimination. The inner activations of a pre-trained diffusion model can serve as features for discriminative tasks, namely, diffusion feature. We discover that diffusion feature has been hindered by a hidden yet universal phenomenon that we call content shift. To be specific, there are content differences between features and the input image, such as the exact shape of a certain object. We locate the cause of content shift as one inherent characteristic of diffusion models, which suggests the broad existence of this phenomenon in diffusion feature. Further empirical study also indicates that its negative impact is not negligible even when content shift is not visually perceivable. Hence, we propose to suppress content shift to enhance the overall quality of diffusion features. Specifically, content shift is related to the information drift during the process of recovering an image from the noisy input, pointing out the possibility of turning off-the-shelf generation techniques into tools for content shift suppression. We further propose a practical guideline named GATE to efficiently evaluate the potential benefit of a technique and provide an implementation of our methodology. Despite the simplicity, the proposed approach has achieved superior results on various tasks and datasets, validating its potential as a generic booster for diffusion features. With the rapid development of e-Commerce and takeaway platforms, retailers have gradually developed multi-channel operations. However, limited empirical studies explored the effects of an online channel offered by takeaway platforms on the store performance. Does an online channel addition have a synergy effect or a cannibalization effect on store performance? We empirically investigate these effects by analyzing a large dataset including diverse samples collected from multiple retailers across various regions. The dataset includes 2115 stores across 25 retailers for 10 months that includes two types of retail formats and covers 16 provinces and 21 cities of China. We study the impacts of the newly introduced online channel on the incumbent offline channel and the overall store *** empirical results reveal that the online channel addition mainly has a synergy effect. Specifically,for the overall store, it has a positive effect on the sales and product variety, whereas it has a negative effect on the basket size. Surprisingly, an online channel addition also has a positive effect on the offline sales. Our study adds novel values to multi-channel retailing literature by empirically researching the cannibalization and synergy effect of a new type of online channel, offered by takeaway platforms. It can provide insights for retail enterprises who are interested in introducing O2 O model.

Triplet learning, i.e. learning from triplet data, has attracted much attention in computer vision tasks with an extremely large number of categories, e.g., face recognition and person re-identification. Albeit with rapid progress in designing and applying triplet learning algorithms, there is a lacking study on the theoretical understanding of their generalization performance. To fill this gap, this paper investigates the generalization guarantees of triplet learning by leveraging the stability analysis. Specifically, we establish the first general high-probability generalization bound for the triplet learning algorithm satisfying the uniform stability, and then 1 obtain the excess risk bounds of the order (Equation presented). for both stochastic gradient descent (SGD) and regularized risk minimization (RRM), where 2n is approximately equal to the number of training samples. Moreover, an optimistic generalization bound in expectation as fast as O(n−1) is derived for RRM in a low noise case via the on-average stability analysis. Finally, our results are applied to triplet metric learning to characterize its theoretical underpinning. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In traditional databases, join is one of the most computationally expensive operations in query processing. During the past years, GPU has been adopted to improve the performance of join processing because of the features of massive parallelism and high memory bandwidth. Limited by the capacity of GPU memory and the absence of virtual memory management, however, handling the relations that exceed the capacity of the GPU memory is a challenge for GPU-based join algorithms. Because of the high computing throughput provided by GPUs and the low bandwidth of data communication between the CPUs and the GPUs, data have to be partitioned to fit the features of GPUs and to reduce the cost of data transmission. Furthermore, a series of novel techniques have been developed on the GPUs, which can benefit the join algorithms. In this work, we focus on the optimizing of processing join operator on large relations and propose the designs of in-memory hash join and sort-merge join on GPUs. We present the data partition method on the GPUs implemented with a pipeline mechanism. Furthermore, the shuffle instructions and the CUDA streams are applied in our algorithms to best utilize the GPUs. Experimental results indicate that our hash join algorithm delivers up to 1.51X and 1.24X speedup over the state-of-the-art hash join algorithm on CPUs on NVIDIA GTX1080ti-Pascal GPU and TitanV-Volta GPU respectively. For sort-merge join, our algorithm achieves up to 3.52X and 2.21X improvements on the same GPUs respectively compared to the baselines on CPUs. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper explores the size-invariance of evaluation metrics in Salient Object Detection (SOD), especially when multiple targets of diverse sizes co-exist in the same image. We observe that current metrics are size-sensitive, where larger objects are focused, and smaller ones tend to be ignored. We argue that the evaluation should be size-invariant because bias based on size is unjustified without additional semantic information. In pursuit of this, we propose a generic approach that evaluates each salient object separately and then combines the results, effectively alleviating the imbalance. We further develop an optimization framework tailored to this goal, achieving considerable improvements in detecting objects of different sizes. Theoretically, we provide evidence supporting the validity of our new metrics and present the generalization analysis of SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. In data analytics applications, join is a general and time consuming operation. Optimizing join algorithms can benefit the query processing significantly. The emerging of GPUs provides a massive parallelism solution for improving the performance of the join operation. The hash join (HJ) and sort merge join (SMJ), which are two widely used join algorithms, have been proved effective for efficient join processing on the GPUs. Both algorithms have their own advantages and drawbacks, offering the chance of combining the advantages of HJ and SMJ on GPUs. In processing join operation on GPUs, data need to be transmitted between the CPU and the GPU due to the discrete GPU memory design, which causes performance degradation because of the high PCIe data transfer overhead. As GPUs are becoming more powerful than before, the performance gap between data transmission and GPU execution increases, which makes it even harder to implement an efficient join on GPUs. In this paper, we focus on the optimization of join algorithms on GPUs. We propose the Parallel Hybrid Join algorithm on GPUs(PHYJ) to combine the advantages of HJ and SMJ, and overlap the data communication and GPU execution with a pipeline mechanism. In our evaluation, the PHYJ shows up to 1.72X and 1.55X speedup over the up-to-date HJ and SMJ algorithms respectively on a NVIDIA GTX 1080ti-Pascal GPU. On the TitanV-Volta GPU, up to 1.54X and 1.42X improvements can be achieved over the baseline HJ and SMJ algorithms respectively. © 2019 IEEE.
