Recent progress in material data mining has been driven by high-capacity models trained on large ***,collecting experimental data(real data)has been extremely costly owing to the amount of human effort and expertise ***,we develop a novel transfer learning strategy to address problems of small or insufficient *** strategy realizes the fusion of real and simulated data and the augmentation of training data in a data mining *** a specific task of grain instance image segmentation,this strategy aims to generate synthetic data by fusing the images obtained from simulating the physical mechanism of grain formation and the“image style”information in real *** results show that the model trained with the acquired synthetic data and only 35%of the real data can already achieve competitive segmentation performance of a model trained on all of the real *** the time required to perform grain simulation and to generate synthetic data are almost negligible as compared to the effort for obtaining real data,our proposed strategy is able to exploit the strong prediction power of deep learning without significantly increasing the experimental burden of training data preparation.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)-guided deep models have obtained impressive performance for image representation, however the representation ability may still be restricted and usually needs more epochs to make the model converge in training, due to the useful information loss during the convolution and pooling operations. We therefore propose a general feature recovery layer, termed Low-rank Deep Feature Recovery (LDFR), to enhance the representation ability of the convolutional features by seamlessly integrating low-rank recovery into CNNs, which can be easily extended to all existing CNNs-based models. To be specific, to recover the lost information during the convolution operation, LDFR aims at learning the low-rank projections to embed the feature maps onto a low-rank subspace based on some selected informative convolutional feature maps. Such low-rank recovery operation can ensure all convolutional feature maps to be reconstructed easily to recover the underlying subspace with more useful and detailed information discovered, e.g., the strokes of characters or the texture information of clothes can be enhanced after LDFR. In addition, to make the learnt low-rank subspaces more powerful for feature recovery, we design a fusion strategy to obtain a generalized subspace, which averages over all learnt sub-spaces in each LDFR layer, so that the convolutional feature maps in test phase can be recovered effectively via low-rank embedding. Extensive results on several image datasets show that existing CNNs-based models equipped with our LDFR layer can obtain better performance.

Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is one of the fastest developing technologies in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), which has made great contributions to improving traffic congestion and reducing traffic accidents. As it is deployed in an open environment, security and privacy are threatened to a certain extent. Moreover, there are huge data exchanges in high traffic areas, which require VANET system to improve computing efficiency while ensuring communication security. To solve the above issues, this paper proposes a cloud-assisted road condition monitoring (RCM) system. The trusted authority (TA) monitors the road conditions with the help of the cloud server. The vehicle collects the road condition information of the road section managed by the roadside unit (RU), and only the vehicles authorized by the administrative roadside unit can successfully upload the road condition reports to the cloud server. The cloud server divides the road condition reports into different equivalence classes, in this way to report the emergency to the TA when the reported quantity exceeds the threshold. Security analysis showed that the proposed RCM system can effectively protect the security and privacy of road condition reports in VANETs.

Genealogical knowledge graphs depict the relationships of family networks and the development of family histories. They can help researchers to analyze and understand genealogical data, search for genealogical roots, and explore the origins of a family more easily. However, the multi-type, multisource dynamic changes and specialized nature of genealogical data bring challenges to the development of contemporary knowledge graph models. Applying existing methods to genealogical data can result in problems of overlooking certain specialized vocabulary and dynamic properties such as personal experiences. In this paper, we propose a genealogical knowledge graph model GKGM that combines HAO intelligence (h uman intelligence + a rtificial intelligence + o rganizational intelligence) and ontology granularity division technology to address the above problems. Furthermore, a method of applying the model to construct genealogical knowledge graphs is demonstrated, and an experiment conducted on a real-world genealogical dataset verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.

FortisAVQA and MAVEN: a Benchmark dataset and Debiasing Framework for Robust Multimodal Reasoning

Audio-Visual Question Answering (AVQA) is a challenging multimodal reasoning task requiring intelligent systems to answer natural language queries based on paired audio-video inputs accurately. However, existing AVQA approaches often suffer from overfitting to dataset biases, leading to poor robustness. Moreover, current datasets may not effectively diagnose these methods. To address these challenges, we first introduce a novel dataset, FortisAVQA, constructed in two stages: (1) rephrasing questions in the test split of the public MUSIC-AVQA dataset and (2) introducing distribution shifts across questions. The first stage expands the test space with greater diversity, while the second enables a refined robustness evaluation across rare, frequent, and overall question distributions. Second, we introduce a robust Multimodal Audio-Visual Epistemic Network (MAVEN) that leverages a multifaceted cycle collaborative debiasing strategy to mitigate bias learning. Experimental results demonstrate that our architecture achieves state-of-the-art performance on FortisAVQA, with a notable improvement of 7.81%. Extensive ablation studies on both datasets validate the effectiveness of our debiasing components. Additionally, our evaluation reveals the limited robustness of existing multimodal QA methods. We also verify the plug-and-play capability of our strategy by integrating it with various baseline models across both datasets. Recently, instead of pursuing high performance on classical evaluation metrics, the research focus of image captioning has shifted to generating sentences which are more vivid and stylized than human-written ones. However, there are still no applicable metrics which can judge how close the generated captions are to the human-written ones. In this paper, we propose a novel learning-based evaluation metric, namely Unpaired Image Captioning Evaluation (UICE), which can be trained to distinguish between human-written and generated captions. Unlike existing metrics, our UICE consists of two parts: the semantic alignment module measuring the semantic distance between extracted image features and caption meanings, and the syntactic discriminating module syntactically judging how human-like the candidate caption is. The semantic alignment module is implemented by mapping the image features and the word embedding into a unified tensor space. And the syntactic discriminating module is designed to be learning-based, and thereby can be trained to be stylized by users' own, fed with additional personalized corpus during the training process. Extensive experiments indicate that our metric can correctly judge the grammatical correctness of generated captions and the semantic consistency between captions and corresponding images.

Stacked convolutional sparse auto-encoders for representation learning

Deep learning seeks to achieve excellent performance for representation learning in image datasets. However, supervised deep learning models such as convolutional neural networks require a large number of labeled image data, which is intractable in applications, while unsupervised deep learning models like stacked denoising auto-encoder cannot employ label information. Meanwhile, the redundancy of image data incurs performance degradation on representation learning for aforementioned models. To address these problems, we propose a semi-supervised deep learning framework called stacked convolutional sparse auto-encoder, which can learn robust and sparse representations from image data with fewer labeled data records. More specifically, the framework is constructed by stacking layers. In each layer, higher layer feature representations are generated by features of lower layers in a convolutional way with kernels learned by a sparse auto-encoder. Meanwhile, to solve the data redundance problem, the algorithm of Reconstruction Independent Component Analysis is designed to train on patches for sphering the input data. The label information is encoded using a Softmax Regression model for semi-supervised learning. With this framework, higher level representations are learned by layers mapping from image data. It can boost the performance of the base subsequent classifiers such as support vector machines. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior classification performance of our framework compared to several state-of-the-art representation learning methods. © 2021 ACM.

In scenarios where multiple parties such as the Internet of Things and Supply Chains participate in data sharing and computing, when accessing data, users not only need to accept the forward access control of the data owner, but also needs to perform reverse access control on the data, so as to realize two-way access control. In the traditional blockchain, all users can participate in accounting and view transaction data, and only protect user privacy through “pseudo-anonymity”. The access rights of different users cannot be distinguished, which cannot meet the user's two-way access control needs. However, most of the existing blockchain-based access control schemes are one-way access control, which cannot meet the needs of users for two-way access control in scenarios such as the Internet of Things and Supply Chains. Therefore, it is particularly important to design a two-way access control mechanism suitable for application in the blockchain. On this basis, this paper proposes a dual strategy attribute-based encryption (ABE) scheme for distributed outsourcing. This scheme combines two existing schemes, ciphertext-policy ABE and key-policy ABE, and proposes two access structures and a structure of attribute sets. The primary access structure and the secondary attributes are stored in the ciphertext, and the secondary access structure and the primary attributes are stored in the user's private key. Only when the primary attribute set satisfies the primary access structure and the secondary attribute set satisfies the secondary access structure can the user unlock the ciphertext. This scheme has no single authorization center; instead, blockchain nodes jointly participate in authorization. In addition, the proposed scheme outsources the encryption and decryption of the ciphertext to blockchain nodes to reduce the computing pressure on users and can adapt to the decentralized environment of the blockchain and provide users with two-way access control services. This paper investigates pervasiveness effect of information technology on the technological progress of logistics in China. Using panel data of 30-regions in China during 2008 to 2020, we propose both static and dynamic panel data models, and find both resource level and spreading rate of information technology have negative influences on technological progress of logistics. The resource level of information technology has a short-term effect on technological progress of logistics, whereas the spreading rate of information technology has a long-term effect. Moreover, the result reveals that the discordant problem of information construction of logistics between resource level and spreading rate cause the negative influence of information technology.

Recommending courses in MOOCs for jobs: An auto weak supervision approach

The proliferation of massive open online courses (MOOCs) demands an effective way of course recommendation for jobs posted in recruitment websites, especially for the people who take MOOCs to find new jobs. Despite the advances of supervised ranking models, the lack of enough supervised signals prevents us from directly learning a supervised ranking model. This paper proposes a general automated weak supervision framework (AutoWeakS) via reinforcement learning to solve the problem. On the one hand, the framework enables training multiple supervised ranking models upon the pseudo labels produced by multiple unsupervised ranking models. On the other hand, the framework enables automatically searching the optimal combination of these supervised and unsupervised models. Systematically, we evaluate the proposed model on several datasets of jobs from different recruitment websites and courses from a MOOCs platform. Experiments show that our model significantly outperforms the classical unsupervised, supervised and weak supervision baselines. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.
