The Intelligent Terminal Design for Integrated Substation Auxiliary System

The integrated substation auxiliary system is a project composed by software and hardware to help operators of a substation carry daily maintain works. The intelligent terminal is the key part of the system and it provides important UI and communication functions for the user. Smart phones can achieve higher bandwidth data communication, and at the same time can carry Bluetooth communication, video call, multimedia display and other functions. Smart phone is a potential common platform, suitable for the deployment of substation integrated auxiliary system terminal. Based on the Android Smart phone platform, this paper develops intelligent client-side software for the integrated substation auxiliary system and it can realize the operation ticket control, the video call, the substation map display and other functions. This client-side software has been applied in practice, and has gained good effects.

Aspect extraction aims to extract fine-grained opinion targets from opinion texts. Recent work has shown that the syntactical approach performs well. In this paper, we show that Logic Programming, particularly Answer Set Programming (ASP), can be used to elegantly and efficiently implement the key components of syntax based aspect extraction. Specifically, the well known double propagation (DP) method is implemented using 8 ASP rules that naturally model all key ideas in the DP method. Our experiment on a widely used data set also shows that the ASP implementation is much faster than a Java-based implementation. Syntactical approach has its limitation too. To further improve the performance of syntactical approach, we identify a set of general words from Word Net that have little chance to be an aspect and prune them when extracting aspects. The concept of general words and their pruning are concisely captured by 10 new ASP rules, and a natural extension of the 8 rules for the original DP method. Experimental results show a major improvement in precision with almost no drop in recall compared with those reported in the existing work on a typical benchmark data set. Logic Programming provides a convenient and effective tool to encode and thus test knowledge needed to improve the aspect extraction methods so that the researchers can focus on the identification and discovery of new knowledge to improve aspect extraction.

Possibilistic Description Logics (DLs) extend description logics with possibilistic semantics to reason with inconsistent and uncertain knowledge. In possibilistic DLs, a crucial reasoning task is to compute the inconsistency degree of a possibilistic DL knowledge base. In this work, we first point out a shortcoming of a previous tableaux algorithm for possibilistic DL ALC and propose a new tableaux algorithm. We then propose a tableaux algorithm for computing the inconsistency degree of a knowledge base in possibilistic DL ALCI(R + ), which extends possibilistic DL ALC with inverse roles and transitive roles. A blocking condition is proposed to ensure the termination of the algorithm. Although the tableaux algorithm for possibilistic DL ALCI(R + ) is easy to understand and to implement, it may need exponential space in the worst case. Therefore, we give another tableaux algorithm to improve it and show that the complexity of this algorithm is PSpace-complete. This shows that the flexibility in representing uncertain information is handled without extra computational costs.

Finding justifications for an entailment in an OWL ontology is an important reasoning service in the development and maintenance of OWL ontologies. In this paper, we consider the problem of finding all the justifications of an entailment in description logic EL+, which underpins OWL 2 EL. Our method for computing all the justifications utilizes the classification result of an EL+ ontology by an OWL EL reasoner. We first give an algorithm for finding all the justifications of an entailment by constructing an explanation dependency graph from the entailment and the classification result. We then propose some pruning strategies to optimize this algorithm. We implement a prototype system by using the multi-core technology. The experimental results show that in many cases, our optimized algorithm outperforms an existing algorithm for finding all the justifications for an entailment in EL+ that is optimized with the module extraction technology.

In this paper, an effective metaheuristic is developed for the no-wait job shop problem with the objective of makespan minimization, which is strongly NP-hard. The problem is usually decomposed into a sequencing sub-problem and a timetabling one. A partial delay timetabling method is constructed by combining the as early as possible strategy with the as late as possible rule. By integrating the variable neighborhood structure, a new Local Search method CLMVN (Complete Local Search with Memory and Variable Neighborhood structure) is presented for the sequencing problem. Experimental results show that CLMVN outperforms CLLM (the best algorithm for the considered problem so far) on average with less computation time. © 2012 IEEE.

Netflow can be employed for accounting, anomaly detection and network monitoring, and can bring new data source for network management. But most IPv6 routers in CERNET2 backbone network don’t provide IPFIX or NetFlow flow record function. Netflow flow records don’t have the network performance information, such as RTT and packet loss ratio, so we hardly use the Netflow data to analyze the network performance. In this paper, we designs a NetFlow v9 measurement system (N9MS) which converts IPv6 packet headers into the Net-Flow v9 flow records and monitors the link performance with these flow records. The N9MS has two improvements to the traditional Cisco’s sampled NetFlow feature. Firstly, the Cisco’s sampling strategy is to sample packets, while that in the N9MS is flow sampling which can keep all packets in the sampled flows to infer network performance based on these sampled packets. Secondly, N9MS directly uses these sampled packets to calculate these performance metrics, such as round trip time (RTT) and packet loss ratio. We also define both RTT and packet loss ratio fields in the scalability NetFlow v9 template format. In this paper we also use the N9MS to monitor a 10Gbps backbone link between Nanjing site and the CNGI-CERNET2 backbone, and give some experimental results. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.

Packet loss may cause the degradation of network and application performance. This paper proposes a passive measurement method called LTS to estimate end-to-end path packet loss ratio for the two segments of the path divided by the monitor node. This method can estimate the packet loss ration of each segment and infer loss ratios based on IP headers identification field, TCP headers sequence number and packets interval. The segment estimation packet loss method can be useful to evaluate the performance of core network or internet work if the monitor is put in the border of a network. The algorithm is evaluated to use a test bed simulation measurement, and is analyzed reordering ratios and loss ratios based on the traces collected from the CERNET backbone links. © 2012 IEEE.

A feedback-based timeout packets dropping strategy in real-time wireless sensor networks

Resource limited real-time wireless sensor network is a new type of application of sensor network. In this kind of networks, there are numerous invalid real-time packets, which have already expired or are destined to expire. In this paper, a feedback-based timeout packet dropping strategy (FBTPD) is proposed. With this strategy, timestamps are piggybacked in real-time packets. So that sink node can gather the historical information and estimate the future transmitting time of some sensor node. Then the estimated transmitting time is fed back to the sensor node in a feedback packet. The sensor node hereby drops the invalid realtime packets which will expire later. Simulation experiments reveal that: compared with other dropping policies, FBTPD can drop more invalid real-time packets, and can significantly improve the throughput of the non real-time packets. Thus FBTPD can efficiently boost the resources utilization in wireless sensor networks, especially in hybrid real-time wireless sensor networks. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.

In this paper, an efficient iterated greedy algorithm is proposed for the SDST (Sequence Dependent Setup Time) no-wait flowshop with makespan minimization, which is known to be NP-hard. By introducing effective operators, the Iterated Greedy algorithm is adapted to the considered problem. To improve the quality of solutions, Local Search is incorporated into the modified Iterated Greedy algorithm. The proposed algorithm is compared with BIH, GAPH1∼GAPH4, and IG-Ruiz on Taillard's instances of ssd10, ssd50, ssd100, and ssdl25. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposal outperforms BIH and GAPH1∼GAPH4. As well, the proposal is more effective than IG-Ruiz under the same computation-time criterion. © 2012 IEEE.
