This was a phase 1 dose-escalation study of Zr202-CoV, a recombinant protein vaccine candidate containing a pre-fusion format of the spike (S)-protein (S-trimer) combined with the dual-adjuvant system of Alum/CpG. A total of 230 participants were screened and 72 healthy adults aged 18-59 years were enrolled and randomized to receive two doses at a 28-day interval of three different Zr202-CoV formulations or normal saline. We assessed the safety for 28 days after each vaccination and collected blood samples for immunogenicity evaluation. All formulations of Zr202-CoV were well-tolerated, with no observed solicited adverse events >= Grade 3 within 7 days after vaccination. No unsolicited adverse events >= Grade 3, or serious adverse events related to vaccination occurred as determined by the investigator. After the first dose, detectable immune responses were observed in all subjects. All subjects that received Zr202-CoV seroconverted at 14 days after the second dose by S-binding IgG antibody, pseudovirus and live-virus based neutralizing antibody assays. S-binding response (GMCs: 2708.7 similar to 4050.0 BAU/mL) and neutralizing activity by pseudovirus (GMCs: 363.1 similar to 627.0 IU/mL) and live virus SArS-CoV-2 (GMT: 101.7 similar to 175.0) peaked at 14 days after the second dose of Zr202-CoV. The magnitudes of immune responses compared favorably with COVId-19 vaccines with reported protective efficacy.

The multifaceted roles of peptides in “always-on” near-infrared fluorescent probes for tumor imaging

Tumor-targeted near-infrared (NIr) fluorescence imaging by using NIr fluorescent probes has attracted extensive attentions in the field of tumor imaging and is becoming an attractive strategy for early cancer diagnosis and surgical guidance for the past few decades. Especially, due to the high affinity and low toxicity, the peptide-based NIr fluorescent probes play an important role in the field of tumor-targeted imaging and therapy. Extensive attempts have been made to develop a set of nontoxic and efficacious “always-on” peptide-based NIr fluorescent probes. In this review, we give a comprehensive analysis of the “always-on” peptide-based NIr fluorescent probes for tumor-targeting for the past 5 years, highlighting the design strategy, chemical synthesis, therapeutical applications, spectroscopic and pharmacological characterization, as well as the multifaceted roles of peptides. A comprehensive understanding of the tumor-targeted, “always-on” peptide-based NIr fluorescent probes will increase our knowledge of cancer diagnosis and benefit clinical cancer therapeutics. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.

Solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) plays a pivotal role in stabilizing lithium (Li) metal anode for rechargeable batteries. However, electrolyte-derived SEI often suffers from poor stability, leading to Li dendrite growth, consumption of electrolyte, and short cycle life. Here, we report a porous lithiophilic polymer coating induced by phase separation of polyvinylidenefluoride-polyacrylonitrile (PVdF-PAN) blends for stabilizing Li metal anode. different from single polymer coating, PVdF-PAN blends protective layer with porous structures caused by phase separation can provide effective Li+ transport channels and regulate uniform Li+ flux. The lithiophilic functional groups of C N and C-F can promote uniform Li deposition and accelerate Li+ diffusion at the same time during plating/stripping process. As a result, Li parallel to NCM811 full cells using PVdF-PAN coated Li present an apparently improved cycling stability and higher Coulombic efficiency with lean electrolyte (7.5 mu L mA h(-1)), limited Li supply (N/P ratio = 2.4), and high areal capacity (4.0 mA h cm(-)(2)).

Humanized mouse models and mouse-adapted SArS-CoV-2 virus are increasingly used to study COVId-19 pathogenesis, so it is impor-tant to learn where the SArS-CoV-2 receptor ACE2 is expressed. Here we mapped ACE2 expression during mouse postnatal development and in adulthood. Pericytes in the CNS, heart, and pancreas express ACE2 strongly, as do perineurial and adrenal fibroblasts, whereas endothelial cells do not at any location analyzed. In a number of other organs, pericytes do not express ACE2, including in the lung where ACE2 instead is expressed in bronchial epithelium and alveolar type II cells. The onset of ACE2 expression is organ specific: in bronchial epithelium already at birth, in brain pericytes before, andin heart pericytes after postnatal day 10.5. Establishing the vascular localization of ACE2 expression is central to correctly interpret data from modeling COVId-19 in the mouse and may shed light on the cause of vascular COVId-19 complications.

double perovskite Cs 2 SnI 6 and its doping products (with SnI 2 , SnF 2 or organic lithium salts added) have been utilized as p–type hole transport materials for perovskite and dye–sensitized solar cells in many researches, where the mechanism for producing p–type semiconductor is rarely reported. In this paper, the mechanism of p–type semiconductor generated by Li + doped Cs 2 SnI 6 was revealed by first–principles simulation. Li + entered Cs 2 SnI 6 lattice by interstitial doping to form strong correlated Li–I bonds, resulting in the splitting of the α spin orbital of I–p at the top of valence band, with the intermediate energy levels created and the absorption edge redshifted. The experimental results confirmed that Li + doping neither changed the crystal phase of Cs 2 SnI 6 , nor introduced impurities. The Hall effect test results showed that Li + doping transformed Cs 2 SnI 6 into p–type semiconductor, and substantially promoted its carrier mobility (356.6 cm 2 /Vs), making it an ideal hole transport material. © 2022, The Authors. reasonable allocation of limestone resources is of great significance for accelerating the development of high quality in the limestone industry. An activator (AT) was prepared by compounding FA-dEA (esterification of diethanolamine and fumaric acid) with other organic/inorganic multicomponents. The influence of AT on the dispersion of high-grade limestone (H-LS) ball milling was studied. Based on the results, the application performance and mechanism of adding high-grade limestone powder (H-LSP) and high-grade limestone powder with AT (H-LSP + AT) in cement-based materials were investigated. The results showed that when 0.5% AT was added during the H-LS ball milling process, it not only reduced the coverage of H-LSP on steel balls by about 50.1% but also had an excellent dispersion effect on the agglomerated H-LSP. Further results confirmed that the cement paste with H-LSP + AT had longer setting time and less fluidity loss. In addition, the mortar with 10% and 5% H-LSP + AT exhibited significant early and late compressive strength, respectively. This may mainly be due to the positive effect of finer H-LSP + AT on cement hydration. Simultaneously, the filling function and forming new phase of carboaluminate (C3A·CaCO3·11H2O) also made hydration products more compact. Therefore, this research provides important theoretical support for the application of limestone as supplementary cementitious material. © 2025 American Society of Civil Engineers.

The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been attracted increasing attentions due to their carcino-genicity and teratogenicity. Adsorption is widely considered one of the most potential technologies for PAHs removal. In this study, we prepared two kinds of oxygen-rich biochar derived from waste wood to investigate the PAHs adsorption performance, and the molecular simulation was used to build the 16 priority PAHs, 23 nitrated PAHs, 9 oxygenated PAHs adsorption model. The surface adsorption performance of oxygen-rich biochar significantly depends on the pyrolysis conditions. The main out-comings demonstrated that the adsorption of naphthalene (C10H8) molecules first occurred, and the optimal adsorption positions of oxygen-rich biochar strongly adhered to functional groups of carboxyl and hydroxyl. Moreover, benzene ring,-COOH, and-CH3 of biochar were the main adsorbed functional groups for PAHs adsorption. The oxygen-rich biochar had the targeted-adsorption effect on PAHs removal especially symmetrical PAHs, and the targeted-adsorption mecha-nism was finally proposed. The research is beneficial to guide the removal of PAHs from polluted water and mitigate the environmental pollution caused by biomass waste mismanagement, simultaneously.

Introduction: Osimertinib has shown promising activity in patients with leptomeningeal metastases (LMs) of EGFr-positive NSCLC at 160 mg once daily (qd) (BLOOM;NCT02228369). We report LM activity with osimertinib (80 mg qd) in a retrospective analysis of studies across the AUrA program (AUrA extension, AUrA2, AUrA17, and AUrA3). Methods: Patients with EGFr T790M-positive advanced NSCLC and progression after previous EGFr-tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy received osimertinib (80 mg qd). Patients with central nervous system (CNS) metastases (including LMs) were eligible if the lesions were neurologically asymptomatic and stable. Patients with evidence of LMs at the study entry were retrospectively included for the analysis;brain scans were assessed for radiologic LM response by neuroradiologically blinded, independent central review per the modified response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology LM criteria. LM objective response rate, duration of response, progression-free survival, and overall survival were assessed. A longitudinal analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between changes from the baseline in non-CNS tumor sizes and LM responses at each visit of patients in AUrA LM and BLOOM studies. results: For the 22 patients included in the analysis, LM objective response rate was 55% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 32-76). Median LM duration of response was not reached (95% CI: 2.8-not calculable [NC]). Median LM progression-free survival and overall survival were 11.1 months (95% CI: 4.6-NC) and 18.8 months (95% CI: 6.3-NC), respectively. The longitudinal analysis revealed similar non-CNS and LM responses between the patients in AUrA LM and BLOOM programs. Conclusions: Patients with EGFr T790M-positive NSCLC and radiologically detected LM obtained clinical benefit from osimertinib (80 mg qd). The development of memristor is very important for the development of artificial intelligence and new electronic circuits. This paper presents an emotion monitoring circuit based on Ag/ZnO/WOx/FTO memristor. Firstly, Ag(Al)/ZnO/WOx/FTO memristors are fabricated by magnetron sputtering, and the device performance are further improved through annealing and oxygen supply during sputtering. The experimental data show that the device will have the largest roff/ron ratio and the best durability when the top electrode is Ag and ZnO and sputtered in oxygen atmosphere. Through data fitting and analysis, it can be seen that the resistance switching mechanism of memristors with different top electrodes is different. Furthermore, the physical model of the best performance memristor is built using Simulink, and this model is used in the construction of the emotion monitoring circuit in this study. The simulation results show that this circuit can be used to monitor and record emotional changes, and feedback emotional monitoring report to users to help them adjust emotion. © 2022, The Authors. Spent coffee grounds (SCG), a substantial waste byproduct of the global coffee industry, are increasingly recognized as a sustainable precursor for the production of activated carbon (SCG-AC). This review systematically examines the pivotal influence of activation parameters, specifically focusing on activating agents (KOH, ZnCl2, H3PO4) and activation atmospheres, on the resultant structural evolution and performance characteristics of SCG-AC. Through a critical analysis of existing literature, we elucidate the intricate relationships between the pore structure characteristics of SCG-AC and its efficacy in pertinent environmental applications, encompassing water treatment, energy storage, and catalysis. Economic evaluations consistently highlight the notable cost-effectiveness of SCG-AC production in comparison to commercially available activated carbons, thereby underscoring its potential for scalable industrial implementation.
