Image interpretation experts play a crucial role in various domains in daily life such as military, healthcare, and education. Accurately assessing an individual's ability to perform such tasks is of great importance. In this study, we designed an image interpretation task with three levels of occlusion, which better reflected the real-world working environments. Using the Eyelink 1000plus eye-tracking system, we collected both behavioral data and eye-tracking data from 64 participants while they performed the image interpretation tasks. Through confirmatory factor analysis, we extracted the $g$ -factor, representing the comprehensive image interpretation ability, from the behavioral performance data of the tasks with different levels of occlusion. We divided all participants into two groups according to their $g$ -factors and conducted statistical analyses on their eyetracking data. The results showed that, under all three levels of mental workload, the high-ability group exhibited fewer fixations, saccades, and blinks. Additionally, the high-ability group showed significantly longer fixation duration under the medium and high mental workload conditions. Furthermore, our study also provided a few machine learning algorithms for assessing individuals' image interpretation ability based on eye-tracking features with the highest Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.81.

With deep learning’s advancement in recent years, heterogeneous graph neural networks (HGNNs) have drawn a lot of interest. They are a group of deep learning models specifically designed for handling heterogeneous graph data, in which nodes and edges are of various types and all nodes are assumed to have either direct or indirect associations. A metaschema, which serves as a thorough and unified blueprint for the heterogeneous graph, elegantly connects varied node types to other heterogeneous nodes via multiple heterogeneous edges with rich sematincs. However, many existing methods that utilize meta-schema to mine heterogeneous information often focus on the different meta-relationships inside the schema, limiting the meta-schema to describing only the local relational semantics. To better utilize meta-schema for efficiently integrating different heterogeneous information, we organize them into a hierarchical structure(i.e., hierarchical meta-schema), with all types of nodes distributed across different layers. The layers are interconnected through heterogeneous relationships. The target type is placed at the final layer and others are arranged hierarchically in the front according to the heterogeneous relationships defined in the meta-schema. During information aggregation, according to the hierarchical meta-schema, the information of each layer is gradually aggregated to the target type on the final layer from far to near via the attention mechanism. Moreover, metapaths regularly begin and end with the same type and help to define complex structures and semantic. Therefore, we also consider the semantic information of neighbors based on metapaths within the proposed hierarchical meta-schema to enhance the complex semantics among nodes of the same-type that may be lacking in the meta-schema. In the original Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), the selection of parameters significantly impacts the search capability of PSO. The paper introduces an innovative algorithm called Fitness Landscape-based PSO (FLPSO) to address the impact of parameter selection on the search capability of PSO. The algorithm focuses on acquiring fitness landscape information and analyzing the population state to intelligently select appropriate parameters in each generation. FLPSO defines four primary states: exploration, exploitation, convergence, and escaping state. In the convergence state, an elite learning strategy is incorporated to help the algorithm escape potential local optima by targeting the global best particle. To validate the efficacy of FLPSO, the paper conducted experiments on 30 different characteristic test functions from CEC2017. FLPSO was compared with six existing algorithms: PSO, PSO-TVAC, APSO, AWPSO, RPSO and ASRPPSO. The experimental results showed significant improvements in FLPSO, providing promising evidence for its effectiveness.

Forest vegetation is an important place for energy conversion and material cycle, and leaf area index (LAI) is an important parameter to describe the process of plant canopy function. In this paper, with the support of computer technology such as VC, the LAI of Fujian Province from 2001 to 2017 was analyzed and studied by using MODIS remote sensing data with 500 m resolution every 8 days. The results showed that the vegetation growth was the most vigorous in the 200–800 m terrain. The evergreen coniferous forest was mainly distributed in the northwest of Fujian Province, while the mixed forest in the interior. The seasonal mean value of LAI for many years reaching 3.5was the highest in the summer and autumn;the second highest was in the spring, with the mean value of LAI reaching 2.0;the lowest was in the winter, with the mean value of LAI reaching 1.5. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In recent years, oriented object detection technology has made significant progress. Most oriented object detectors represent oriented bounding boxes by adding additional angle information to the horizontal bounding box representation, which leads to serious angle periodicity issues. To address these issues, this paper proposes double midpoint vectors (DMvectors) to represent oriented objects. For any oriented bounding box, we align the center point with the origin in the Cartesian coordinate system, and evenly distribute the midpoints of the box edges across the four quadrants. We use the midpoint of the first and second quadrants, as well as the width and height of the box, to represent the oriented bounding box. DMvectors solve the periodic problem of angles by implicitly including angle information in vectors. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conducted extensive experiments on two common remote sensing datasets (DOTA and HRSC2016), and our method achieved competitive results. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces the Temporal Transform Network based on Scale Sequences (TTS) for cloth-changing person re-identification in video datasets. The TTS network is designed to capture multi-scale temporal cues within video sequences. It accomplishes this by initially modeling short-term temporal cues between adjacent frames, followed by capturing long-term relationships between non-consecutive frames. In more detail, short-term temporal cues are modeled through parallel inflated convolutions with different time dilation rates, enabling the representation of pedestrian movement and appearance dynamics. Long-term relationships are effectively captured using a temporal self-attention model, mitigating challenges such as occlusion and noise within the video sequence. The TTS network outperforms existing methods across cloth-changing video ReID datasets such as CCVID. For instance, under general settings, our approach exhibits a 1.1% improvement in top-1 accuracy and a corresponding 1.1% increase in mAP compared to the baseline. In cloth-changing settings, we observe a 0.2% enhancement in top-1 accuracy and a notable 1.3% increase in mAP relative to the baseline. © 2023 IEEE.

The evaluation of programming course instruction is a key component of educational management. However, relying solely on supervising teachers for assessment poses challenges in comprehensive evaluation and providing feedback on students' classroom learning status. Additionally, a significant amount of monitoring video data from programming courses in Chinese universities remains underutilized. To address these challenges, this paper combines traditional educational management with artificial intelligence and proposes an intelligent algorithm for detecting students' learning status in programming courses. We first establish a dual YOLO network model to analyze students' postures and screen content in programming classroom monitoring videos, thereby identifying their behaviors. Subsequently, we develop a Programming Classroom Student Behavior recognition System (PCSBS) that integrates data collection, student behavior detection, and result visualization functionalities. Experimental results demonstrate that the system can accurately provide feedback on students' programming course learning status, offering graded results that assist supervising teachers in their classroom instructional evaluation tasks to enhance educational management efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-view clustering methods based on deep matrix factorization play a vital role in data analysis within the healthcare sector. However, existing methods predominantly conduct deep matrix factorization in the original data space, which is not conducive to addressing non-linear and complex data patterns. To address this issue, the Multi-kernel based Multi-view Deep Non-negative Matrix Factorization with Optimal Consensus Graph (OGMKMDNMF) is introduced. This approach utilizes deep non-negative matrix factorization after projecting the data matrix into a high-dimensional kernel space. Additionally, it employs optimal consensus graph to alleviate the detrimental effects arising from misassigned nearest neighbors during the construction of similarity matrix. An innovative iterative optimization algorithm is developed for OGMKMDNMF. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and competitive advantage of OGMKMDNMF in addressing multi-view healthcare data clustering tasks. IEEE

The employment of sub-Nyquist sampling enables the adaptation to the ever-increasing bandwidth demands of wireless communication systems. Multicoset sampling is a nonuniform sub-Nyquist sampling technique that can be realized by using a multi-channel architecture. Nevertheless, the performance of multicoset sampling is significantly affected by timing mismatches among sub-ADCs. Traditional analog calibration scheme mitigates timing mismatch errors by adjusting the sampling clock in the front-end, but its performance is suboptimal due to the difficulty in selecting an appropriate initial step size and the sequential calibration process. In this paper, a data-driven digital adaptive timing mismatch calibration approach is proposed that uses real-time measurement data only to calculate calibration parameters without changing hardware circuits, making it effective for tracking variations in mismatches among multiple channels. Based on the nonlinear relationship between the timing mismatches and the normalized mean squared error of the output spectrum, the proposed data-driven calibration scheme jointly computes calibration parameters among multiple channels in parallel through a series of dynamic linearization data models with a time-varying pseudo-partial derivative parameter estimation procedure, and then adaptively adjusts the sampling matrix in the reconstruction to correct unwanted distortions in the output spectrum. To further improve the calibration performance, particle swarm optimization algorithm is exploited to generate parameter vectors used in the proposed data-driven calibration scheme. Numerical analyses indicate that the proposed data-driven digital calibration scheme can eliminate timing mismatches with fewer calibration iterations and enhanced accuracy. © 2015 IEEE.

A nested rectangle electromagnetic bandgap structure with dual broadband band is designed to enhance the performance of telecom/mobile 5G antennas operating at 3.3GHz and 4.9GHz, which has a short frequency spacing of about 1.6GHz. through loading EBG structure under dipole antenna, directional radiation, low profile and high gain performance have been achieved. The distance between electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure and antenna is only 0.067 wavelength, the first band and the second band of EBG are greatly expanded by etching nested square grooves around the EBG (NSGEBG) as compared with traditional etched ring groove EBG (ERGEBG). The bandwidth of the first band of 0.39GHz is twice wider than that of the ring groove of 0.2GHz, the second band has a bandwidth of 0.46GHz, which perfectly solves the problem that the spacing of the two operating frequency is greater than 2GHz. © 2022 IEEE.
