With the advancement of video analysis technology, the multi-object tracking (MOT) problem in complex scenes involving pedestrians is gaining increasing importance. This challenge primarily involves two key tasks: pedestrian detection and re-identification. While significant progress has been achieved in pedestrian detection tasks in recent years, enhancing the effectiveness of re-identification tasks remains a persistent challenge. This difficulty arises from the large total number of pedestrian samples in multi-object tracking datasets and the scarcity of individual instance samples. Motivated by recent rapid advancements in meta-learning techniques, we introduce MAML MOT, a meta-learning-based training approach for multi-object tracking. This approach leverages the rapid learning capability of meta-learning to tackle the issue of sample scarcity in pedestrian re-identification tasks, aiming to improve the model's generalization performance and robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves high accuracy on mainstream datasets in the MOT Challenge. This offers new perspectives and solutions for research in the field of pedestrian multi-object tracking. © 2024 IEEE.

Road obstacle detection is an important problem for vehicle driving safety. In this paper, we aim to obtain robust road obstacle detection based on spatio-temporal context modeling. Firstly, a data-driven spatial context model of the driving scene is constructed with the layouts of the training data. Then, obstacles in the input image are detected via the state-of-the-art object detection algorithms, and the results are combined with the generated scene layout. In addition, to further improve the performance and robustness, temporal information in the image sequence is taken into consideration, and the optical flow is obtained in the vicinity of the detected objects to track the obstacles across neighboring frames. Qualitative and quantitative experiments were conducted on the Small Obstacle Detection (SOD) dataset and the Lost and Found dataset. The results indicate that our method with spatio-temporal context modeling is superior to existing methods for road obstacle detection. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Video matting aims at accurately separating foreground from videos. Recent video matting researches pursue to eliminate auxiliary inputs. However, due to the limited ability of extracting global correlation features, these methods suffer from performance degradation when dealing with complex scenes or natural background videos. To address this challenge, we propose a video matting method called Video Matting Based on Local-Global Features Fusion (VMBLGFF) which can extract both comprehensive global correlation features and local subtle features. VMBLGFF contains two closely connected networks: a transformer network that utilizes window and global attention mechanisms to obtain global correlation features within and cross windows, and a fusion network that integrates local subtle features into the global correlation features to supplement the local detail information which may be overlooked by the attention mechanisms. VMBLGFF alleviates the issue of limiting global correlation features and has been benchmarked on both synthetic and real datasets, and the results demonstrate that VMBLGFF improves the quality of video matting and exhibits good generalization performance. © 2024 SPIE.

A growing number of works have investigated inferring the topology of networked dynamical systems from observations, such as to better understand the system behaviour. Despite the tremendous advances, most of them require the observations to be abundant. This paper focuses on inferring the topology by injecting single excitation on a node and collecting several steps of noisy observations. The problem is challenging because the noises cannot be depressed in several observations and are mixed with the injected excitation, making it hard to directly reveal the topology. To practice, we develop a probabilistic method based on the hypothesis test framework. First, we infer the neighbors that are within h-hop of the excited node and derive the accuracy guarantees. Then, we extend the method to infer the exact h-hop neighbors. A computable lower bound for the accuracy probability is established to provide confidence support in the inference procedures. Furthermore, we give the conditions of excitation input to ensure a desired inference probability, which provides guidance for the input design. Numerical simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

Flight control system testing (FCST) is one of the most important testing during aircraft final assembly, however, traditional testing method highly rely on manual labor, resulting in low testing quality and efficiency. Targeting at improving the testing quality and efficiency, in this paper, we apply digtial twin (DT) technology in the FCST process for the first time. A virtual experimental platform named DT-FCST is constructed which is identical to a real wing experimental platform, supporting testing elements management and physical-virtual mapping experiments. The development process of the DT-FCST platform is detailed. Several experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of DT technology. Based on motion scripts integrating real-time data from the cockpit, the cockpit control sticks and flight control surfaces are driven to achieve consistency between physical and virtual motions. With the help of DT technology, the entire movement process of control sticks and flight control surfaces are mapped with high fidelity in the DT-FCST platform, greatly enhancing the testing efficiency and monitoring quality. © 2024 IEEE.

During the flight control system testing (FCST), it is crucial to accurately measure the deflection angles of flight control surfaces to determine whether they respond precisely to commands. However, the traditional measurement method, which relies on the manual use of angle measuring rulers for inspections, is inefficient, prone to wear, and lacks precision. To address this issue, we introduce a vision-based angle measurement method for FCST that replaces manual measurements, thereby significantly enhancing testing efficiency and accuracy. Our proposed triangular mesh alignment based angle measurement algorithm (TMA-AM) is a non-contact measurement method that involves two key procedures, capturing 3D coordinates from images and calculating deflection angles. The TMA-AM algorithm converts deflected angles into angular differences between two coordinate systems, while accounting for the curved characteristics of control surfaces. We evaluate TMA-AM algorithm on a 3D-printed wing test platform and an aircraft wing test platform. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves high accuracy, with an average angular measurement error below 0.05◦ © 2024 IEEE.

Translation efforts from natural language to code generation have achieved great success with large pre-trained language models. However, selecting the correct code output for the problem posed by the generated set of candidate codes is still challenging. In this paper, we address this problem by proposing an outcome-based quality-aware reordering method for code selection. This method scores each code by whether the set of candidate codes passes the test cases or not as a reference to select the top k best code outputs. In addition, this method depends on the quality and number of test cases. However, it is impractical to manually create a large number of test cases for each problem, so this paper adopts an automated approach that utilizes the current model to generate test cases for each problem. The experimental results show that the approach proposed in this paper obtains a significant improvement in the pass@k benchmark for each model, and the correctness and quality of test cases generated automatically using the model are discussed experimentally. Summarizing the experimental results and discussions, the result-based quality-aware reordering method proposed in this paper achieves a significant improvement in solving the problem of selecting the correct output from natural language to code generation, effectively improves the accuracy of evaluation by automating the generation of test cases, and provides an effective solution to improving the correctness of code generation. © 2024 IEEE.

Aviation electrical connectors are critically important components in electrical wiring interconnection systems. Currently, connector defect detection relies entirely on manual inspection, which is error-prone and time-consuming. Due to the unique structural characteristics of aviation connectors, single-modality sensors often struggle to simultaneously detect both pins and holes. To address this issue, we propose a 3D skewed pins detection (3D-SPD) algorithm that integrates both 2D and 3D modals features. Due to the low quality of the raw connector data, we propose a connector point cloud enhancement (CPCE) algorithm that combines multi-view point clouds for point cloud fusion enhancement. Based on enhanced data, we perform skewed pin detection. Experimental results indicate that CPCE and 3D-SPD are effective in detecting skewed pins, achieving an accuracy rate exceeding 99%. Our algorithm can be deployed as an AI assistant on the edge device for the skewed pin detection. © 2024 IEEE.

Short text classification is an important natural language processing task due to the prevalence of short text on the internet and social media platforms. In this paper, we propose a novel graph-based short text classification method named GBBM (Graph-BERT-BTM Model) that leverages the powerful representation ability of graph data to capture the structural features of short text. In this work, we incorporate topic information to enrich and expand the feature space for the short text and compare our proposed method on five publicly available short text datasets with five existing models. In order to improve the efficiency of indoor mobile robots in locating and segmenting environmental instances, an instance segmentation method based on RTMDet is proposed. Firstly, the more powerful ConvNeXt V2 is used as the backbone network of the model, which improves the performance of the existing RTMDet model. Subsequently, NAS-FPN is used as a converged network to detect the network at any given time. Finally, AdamW is used as the model optimiser, which effectively solves the problem of excessive memory occupation when updating parameters and improves the performance of the model. The proposed method obtains the highest evaluation index in all cases. After training and testing on the Cityscapes data set, the recognition accuracy reaches 65.0%. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
