The advent of highly accurate protein structure prediction methods has fueled an exponential expansion of the protein structure database. Consequently, there is a rising demand for rapid and precise structural homolog search. Traditional alignment-based methods are dedicated to precise comparisons between pairs, exhibiting high accuracy. However, their sluggish processing speed is no longer adequate for managing the current massive volume of data. In response to this challenge, we propose a novel deep-learning approach FoldExplorer. It harnesses the powerful capabilities of graph attention neural networks and protein large language models for protein structures and sequences data processing to generate embeddings for protein structures. The structural embeddings can be used for fast and accurate protein search. And the embeddings also provide insights into the protein space. FoldExplorer demonstrates a substantial performance improvement of 5% to 8% over the current state-of-the-art algorithm on the benchmark datasets. Meanwhile, FoldExplorer does not compromise on search speed and excels particularly in searching on a large-scale dataset. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Event-Triggered Cooperative Tracking Control of Multiagent Systems with a Dynamic Leader via Approximate Dynamic Programming

This article investigates the optimal cooperative tracking control problem for unknown nonlinear multiagent systems with a real dynamic leader and uncertainties. Its main difficulty lies in eliminating effect of the unmatched uncertainty and noncooperation in the event-triggered manner. To overcome this difficulty, a distributed robust event-triggered control algorithm is developed with the aid of a disturbance observer and robust approximate dynamic programming (ADP). Specifically, this problem is converted into a cooperative multiplayer game for the distributed auxiliary systems employing observer-based feedforward compensation, which contributes to reducing conservatism;via an adaptive event-triggered mechanism and a new weight tuning law, a distributed robust ADP approach is proposed with hope to obviate judging the existence of the saddle point beforehand. Moreover, the local neighbor tracking error and the weight estimation error are demonstrated to be uniformly ultimately bounded by means of Lyapunov stability theory. We also prove that Zeno behavior is excluded. A comparative simulation example for multiquadrotor systems is carried out to verify the effectiveness and superiority of our algorithm. © 2020 IEEE.

Layer-Specific Scaling of Positional Encodings for Superior Long-Context Modeling

Although large language models (LLMs) have achieved significant progress in handling long-context inputs, they still suffer from the "lost-in-the-middle" problem, where crucial information in the middle of the context is often underrepresented or lost. Our extensive experiments reveal that this issue may arise from the rapid long-term decay in Rotary Position Embedding (RoPE). To address this problem, we propose a layer-specific positional encoding scaling method that assigns distinct scaling factors to each layer, slowing down the decay rate caused by RoPE to make the model pay more attention to the middle context. A specially designed genetic algorithm is employed to efficiently select the optimal scaling factors for each layer by incorporating Bézier curves to reduce the search space. Through comprehensive experimentation, we demonstrate that our method significantly alleviates the "lost-in-the-middle" problem. Our approach results in an average accuracy improvement of up to 20% on the key-Value Retrieval dataset. Furthermore, we show that layer-specific interpolation, as opposed to uniform interpolation across all layers, enhances the model’s extrapolation capabilities when combined with PI and Dynamic-NTK positional encoding schemes. Exploring brain function is crucial for unraveling the pathological mechanism underlying stroke. while most studies focus on brain function emphasize dynamic connections and interactions within or between brain regions, they often ignore the global properties of large-scale network topology. In this study, we analyzed resting-state EEG microstates in stroke patients, calculating key parameters such as mean duration (MD), occurrence (OC), time coverage (TC), and transition probability (TP) across different microstate classes. As a result, we identified four microstate classes (A, B, C, and D) in both healthy subjects and stroke patients. Notably, stroke patients showed significant changes in Class B, C, and D, with increased MD, OC, and TC in Class B and C and decreased MD, OC, and TC in Class D. additionally, stroke patients displayed higher TP between Class B and C than healthy controls. Moreover, we observed a positive correlation between the OC of Class D and clinical Fugl-Meyer scores, suggestion a link between microstate dynamic and motor recovery. This study highlights the connection between specific microstates and brain regions, providing evidence that stroke patients demonstrate increased activity in visual and salience networks, but decreased activity in the dorsal attention network. We speculate these results from changes in the occipital lobe, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, and dorsal anterior cingulate cortex. These findings deepen our understanding of stroke pathophysiology and support further research. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

The similarity of triangular fuzzy numbers could be served as a measurement of similarity between two triangular cloud models. However, it has been found that existing methods for describing the similarity of triangular cloud models has the drawbacks that can't make full use of utilizing graphic information and assigning inappropriate weights to distances through research and analysis. The method proposed in this literature has adjusted the weight of distance similarity aim to ensure that the characteristic information of the model will not be covered. In addition, the proposed method provides a measurement to describe geometric shape bases on the expected curve included angle of the triangular cloud model. On the foundation of taking abundantly the similarity of distance and shape into account, we provide the measurement to achieve better accuracy. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method have been demonstrated through the time series of KNN algorithm. © 2023 The authors and IOS Press.

In order to avoid decision makers from making wrong decisions as much as possible and reduce the losses caused by wrong decisions, a new aggregation method of interval loss function is proposed based on incomplete information system. Firstly, the missing values are filled according to their characteristics and combined with probability, and on this basis, the measurement method of similarity is given, and the horizontal similarity class of each object is obtained according to the similarity between objects. Secondly, according to the number of times each object in the similar class appears in its corresponding horizontal similar class, the corresponding weight is obtained;Then the interval loss function of similar class is defined as the aggregation of interval loss functions of all objects in similar class, and each interval is weighted according to the weight, so that multiple intervals in similar class are aggregated into an interval, and then the aggregated interval is converted into a single value by using the conversion function. Finally, according to the aggregation method, three decision rules are given to make decisions, and the effectiveness of the method is verified by a case. © 2023 The authors and IOS Press.

Railway point machine(RPM)condition monitoring has attracted engineers’attention for safe train operation and accident *** realize the fast and accurate fault diagnosis of RPMs,this paper proposes a method based on entropy measurement and broad learning system(BLS).Firstly,the modified multi-scale symbolic dynamic entropy(MMSDE)module extracts dynamic characteristics from the collected acoustic signals as entropy ***,the fuzzy BLS takes the above entropy features as input to complete model *** BLS introduces the Takagi-Sug eno fuzzy system into BLS,which improves the model’s classification performance while considering computational *** results indicate that the proposed method significantly reduces the running time while maintaining high accuracy.

To save the energy and extend the lifetime of the network, Cluster Routing Algorithm based on Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (CRAAHC) is proposed in wireless sensor networks. WSN is divided into a certain quantity of ring areas based on the energy consumption model. Clustering process is optimized by constraining the distance between clusters and the diameter of clusters to improve the quality of clustering algorithm. Cluster head selection strategy is improved by considering the residual energy of the node and energy consumption in communication with other nodes in one cluster. Simulation results show that CRAAHC algorithm can achieve energy efficiency and routing reliability. © 2023 SPIE.

Based on the equivalent circuit model of PIN diode and the full wave simulation method of CST software, the system performance of finite large energy selective surface (ESS) is simulated and analyzed when the number of cells is small. The simulation results show that the working performance of ESS will be degraded by the slight surface deformation caused by external force but not fail completely. Therefore, in the practical application of ESS, attention should be paid to avoid deformation caused by external force extrusion, which will reduce the shielding performance of ESS. The simulation results provide reference value for the practical design and application of energy selective surface. © 2022 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem of low semantic segmentation accuracy of tiny targets in UAV aerial images, a bilateral semantic segmentation network T-BiseNetv2 is proposed. The proposed segmentation network is based on BiseNetv2, and the Transformer structure is introduced into semantic branch, and the detail branch and feature fusion module are reconstructed, which improves the network’s capacity to capture both global context information and local semantic information. Several semantic segmentation experiments are conducted on the standard semantic segmentation dataset UAVID, experimental results show that the proposed semantic segmentation network T-BiseNetv2 has a MIoU of 69.52%, which is about 2.2% higher than the original BiseNetv2 network. Especially, for "Human", the IoU of TBiseNetv2 is about 4.3% higher than that of the popular UNetFormer. © 2023 SPIE.
