Temporal Activity Localization via Language (TALL) is a challenging task for language based video understanding, especially when a video contains multiple moments of interest and the language query has words describing complex context dependencies between the moments. Latest studies have proposed various ways to exploit the temporal context of adjacent moments, but two apparent limitations remained. First, only limited context information was encoded based on RNNs or 2-D convolutions, which highly depended on the pre-sorting of proposals and lacked flexibility. Second, semantically correlated content in different moments was ignored, i.e., semantic context. To address these limitations, we propose a novel GCN-based framework, i.e., Context-Aware Moment Graph (CAMG) network, to jointly model the temporal context and semantic context. Also, we design a multi-step fusion scheme to aggregate object, motion and textual features. A Query-Gated Integration Module is further designed to select queried objects and filter out noisy ones. Our model achieves superior performance to state-of-the-art methods on two widely-used benchmark datasets. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Pediatric chest X-rays (CXRs) are crucial for diagnosing respiratory diseases in children. However, most deep learning models perform poorly on pediatric data due to domain gaps, as they are primarily trained on adult datasets with limited pediatric samples. Recent large models, though effective, still struggle with domain-specific terminology and specialized medical reasoning essential for pediatric diagnoses. To address these challenges, we propose PRIDE: a two-stage Pediatric Radiological Image Diagnosis Engine guided by medical knowledge. PRIDE works consistently with real clinical workflows by first gathering medical evidence from patient data, followed by applying clinical knowledge to enhance diagnostic accuracy. In the Multi-source Radiological Findings recognition Stage, PRIDE integrates insights from generalized medical models and fine-tuned adult and pediatric radiological models to provide comprehensive findings results. In the Knowledge and Evidence-guided Diagnosis Stage, a Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) acts as a pediatric clinician, making diagnostic decisions using CXRs, radiological findings, demographic data, and clinical knowledge. Our evaluation on the VinDr-PCXR pediatric dataset demonstrates that PRIDE outperforms existing methods. Ablation studies further confirm the importance and effectiveness of its key components. © 2024 IEEE.

Choose Your Simulator Wisely: A Review on Open-source Simulators for Autonomous Driving

Simulators play a crucial role in autonomous driving, offering significant time, cost, and labor savings. Over the past few years, the number of simulators for autonomous driving has grown substantially. However, there is a growing concern about the validity of algorithms developed and evaluated in simulators, indicating a need for a thorough analysis of the development status of the simulators. To address existing gaps in research, this paper undertakes a comprehensive review of the history of simulators, proposes a utility-based taxonomy, and investigates the critical issues within open-source simulators. Analysis of the past thirty years' development trajectory reveals a trend characterized by an increase in open-source simulators and an expansion of their functionality scope. The categorization of simulators based on feature functionalities delineates five primary classes: traffic flow, sensory data, driving policy, vehicle dynamics, and comprehensive simulators. Furthermore, the paper identifies critical unresolved issues in open-source simulators, including concerns regarding the fidelity of sensory data, representation of traffic scenarios, and accuracy in vehicle dynamics simulation, all of which have the potential to undermine experimental confidence. Additionally, challenges in data format inconsistency, labor-intensive map construction processes, sluggish step updating, and insufficient support for Hardware-In-the-Loop testing are discussed as hindrances to experimental efficiency. In light of these findings, the survey furnishes task-oriented recommendations to aid in the selection of simulators, taking into account factors such as accessibility, maintenance status, and quality, while highlighting the inherent limitations of existing open-source simulators in validating algorithms and facilitating real-world experimentation. Uncertainty exists widely in nature and human society. The handling and analysis of these uncertain phenomena have long been a focal point of research in natural sciences, representing a hot and crucial topic. The cloud model uses three numerical characteristics to realize qualitative and quantitative transformation of uncertain knowledge. Normal cloud is one of the more important and common cloud models. The similarity measurement of cloud model is used to judge the similarity of two cloud concepts, and the purpose is to understand the correlation between different cloud concepts, so as to improve the efficiency of classification and clustering. As a deformation extension of f divergence, Hellinger distance has good properties and is suitable for describing the difference between two probability distributions. HECMk and HCCMk algorithms are proposed by combining Hellinger distance and expectation curve cluster with entropy. Compared with previous algorithms, these two algorithms have higher distinguishing ability. Among them, HCCMk algorithm has better comprehensive performance and is feasible in actual similarity measurement. © 2023 The authors and IOS Press.

TOWARDS GENERAL DEEPFAKE DETECTION WITH DYNAMIC CURRICULUM

Most previous deepfake detection methods bent their efforts to discriminate artifacts by end-to-end training. However, the learned networks often fail to mine the general face forgery information efficiently due to ignoring the data hardness. In this work, we propose to introduce the sample hardness into the training of deepfake detectors via the curriculum learning paradigm. Specifically, we present a novel simple yet effective strategy, named Dynamic Facial Forensic Curriculum (DFFC), which makes the model gradually focus on hard samples during the training. Firstly, we propose Dynamic Forensic Hardness (DFH) which integrates the facial quality score and instantaneous instance loss to dynamically measure sample hardness during the training. Furthermore, we present a pacing function to control the data subsets from easy to hard throughout the training process based on DFH. Comprehensive experiments show that DFFC can improve both within- and cross-dataset performance of various kinds of end-to-end deepfake detectors through a plug-and-play approach. It indicates that DFFC can help deepfake detectors learn general forgery discriminative features by effectively exploiting the information from hard samples. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Attention mechanism has been a successful method for multimodal affective analysis in recent years. Despite the advances, several significant challenges remain in fusing language and its nonverbal context information. One is to generate sparse attention coefficients associated with acoustic and visual modalities, which helps locate critical emotional se-mantics. The other is fusing complementary cross‐modal representation to construct optimal salient feature combinations of multiple modalities. A Conditional Transformer Fusion Network is proposed to handle these problems. Firstly, the authors equip the transformer module with CNN layers to enhance the detection of subtle signal patterns in nonverbal sequences. Secondly, sentiment words are utilised as context conditions to guide the computation of cross‐modal attention. As a result, the located nonverbal fea-tures are not only salient but also complementary to sentiment words directly. Experi-mental results show that the authors’ method achieves state‐of‐the‐art performance on several multimodal affective analysis datasets.

In this paper, a hybrid neurodynamics optimizatio (HNO) algorithm is proposed, which is a distributed convex optimization algorithm combined with stochastic neurodynamics. The state solution of the HNO algorithm can avoid falling into local optimal solution by adding neural white noise. The results of numerical experiments show that HNO algorithm has better global optimization ability. In addition, we build a distributed load share (DLS) model. Different from the current model, which only focuses on the quadratic economic cost function, we not only consider the valve point effect and the environmental cost function of the fuel generator, but also consider the constraints of the transmission line which connects the bus. A distributed non-convex nonsmooth optimization problem is constructed. To solve this problem, we first smoothed each local objective function, then dealt with nonconvex constraints utilizing penalty function, and transformed the original problem into a distributed nonconvex optimization problem. Finally, the HNO algorithm is used to solve the problem. The optimization values of each variable in the power grid show that the power grid can operate in an optimal state under the condition of power limitation. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem that traditional sparse arrays only emphasize high degrees of freedom and ignore low coupling, uniform array fitting method can design arrays with low coupling. However, the existing array coupling based on uniform array fitting method still has room for decline, and the value of weight function is not the minimum, so the performance of array DOA estimation needs to be further optimized. Therefore, based on the uniform matrix fitting method, a uniform matrix fitting 6-base-layer array is designed. By extending the spacing of each subarray of the uniform subarray in the base layer, the number of small array element spacing pairs in the differential cooperative array is reduced, and the coupling between the elements of the whole sparse array is reduced as a whole. The performance of DOA estimation of the designed array is simulated and analyzed by using spatial smoothing multiple signal classification algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

The iterative solution of the sequence of linear systems arising from threetemperature(3-T)energy equations is an essential component in the numerical simulation of radiative hydrodynamic(RHD)***,due to the complicated application features of the RHD problems,solving 3-T linear systems with classical preconditioned iterative techniques is *** address this difficulty,a physicalvariable based coarsening two-level(PCTL)preconditioner has been proposed by dividing the fully coupled system into four individual easier-to-solve *** its nearly optimal complexity and robustness,the PCTL algorithm suffers from poor efficiency because of the overhead associatedwith the construction of setup phase and the solution of ***,the PCTL algorithm employs a fixed strategy for solving the sequence of 3-T linear systems,which completely ignores the dynamically and slowly changing features of these linear *** address these problems and to efficiently solve the sequence of 3-T linear systems,we propose an adaptive two-level preconditioner based on the PCTL algorithm,referred to as α*** adaptive strategies of the αSetup-PCTL algorithm are inspired by those of αSetup-AMG algorithm,which is an adaptive-setup-based AMG solver for sequence of sparse linear *** proposed αSetup-PCTL algorithm could adaptively employ the appropriate strategies for each linear system,and thus increase the overall *** results demonstrate that,for 36 linear systems,the αSetup-PCTL algorithm achieves an average speedup of 2.2,and a maximum speedup of 4.2 when compared to the PCTL algorithm.

To achieve high precision direction-of-arrival estimation of MIMO arrays in highly coupled environments, based on the difference and cooperative array principles, the uniform array fitted with 5 base layer array and the uniform array fitted with 6 base layer array were used as transmitting arrays, and with the addition of 1 base layer layer sparse array as receiving array, two sparse multi-in multiple-out arrays were designed for single-base radar, which have the characteristics of low coupling of transmitting array and high freedom of receiving array. © 2024 IEEE.
