In the complex optimization scenarios of real life, we often need to not only weigh the conflicts between multi-objectives but also face the challenges brought by large-scale decision variables. When the scale of decision variables increases sharply, the search space will expand exponentially, which makes it difficult for the algorithm to traverse the whole search space under limited resources, so that the number of local optimal solutions increases sharply. The so-called 'dimension disaster' appears. To effectively deal with this problem, this paper proposes a large-scale multi-objective brainstorm optimization algorithm (LMaOBSO) based on low complexity decision variable classification method and improved penalty boundary intersection strategy. The algorithm uses a low-complexity tree sorting variable classification method to divide the decision variables into converges and diversity variables quickly. At the same time, the convergent variables are optimized by the improved penalty boundary crossover strategy to solve the problems existing in large-scale optimization problems. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Aiming at the problem of disparity calculation in small occluded areas by using path aggregation to fuse adjacent pixel features in traditional semi-global stereo matching algorithms, a semi-global stereo matching algorithm by superpixel guided cost aggregation is proposed. The algorithm begins by fusing local feature information of the image with superpixel blocks during the first aggregation step, and then combines the path aggregation to complete the entire cost aggregation step. The disparity of 4 groups of classic Middlebury image pairs is calculated experimentally, and the average mismatch rate of all regions and non-occluded regions is 4.69%, more than 0.36% higher than the comparison algorithm, and the mismatch rate of non-occlusion regions is 3.13%, more than 1.12% higher than the comparison algorithm. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm can effectively optimize the disparity of partially occluded pixels and improve the effect of non-occluded areas. © 2023 ACM.

Cascading failures are a class of dynamical behaviors that are widely present in various types of complex systems. The study of cascading failures has also been a hot topic for researchers. The results have shown that the process of cascading failures varies greatly depending on the structure of the network. Based on the double-layer hyper-network structure, considering the types of hyper-networks and the way of inter-layer connection, we construct four types of 3 uniform double-layer hyper-networks. In addition, the Couple Map Lattice (CML) cascading failure model is proposed which is suitable for describing the cascading failure behavior of a double-layer hyper-network. By this model, we analyzed the cascading failure processes happen in hyper-edges of a uniform double-layer hyper-network. Furthermore, through theoretical analysis, an approximate solution for the external perturbation threshold is obtained, which makes the double-layer hyper-network reaches the global collapse. The results of this paper provide an important reference for optimizing the robustness of realistic double-layer hyper-networks. In practical applications, the robustness of the double-layer hyper-networks can be improved by reducing the inter-layer connectivity probability p12 and the coupling strength ϵ between hyper-edges. © 2022 IEEE.

Effect of molecular alignment and orientation on elliptically polarized high-order harmonic generation

We present a theoretical investigation of the influence of molecular alignment and orientation on elliptically polarized high-order harmonic generation (HHG) from CO molecules exposed to a linearly polarized pulse. The results show that the ellipticity of HHG observed in a partially aligned or oriented CO molecular ensemble significantly deviates from that of the individual response. Additionally, we find that the ellipticity of HHG in the CO molecular ensemble exhibits strong dependence on the degree of molecular alignment/orientation as well as the time delay between the alignment/orientation and probe pulses. More importantly, under the proper alignment/orientation angle, a large HHG ellipticity can be achieved from the partially aligned/oriented molecular ensemble at a moderate degree of alignment/orientation. These findings relax the experimental requirement of a high degree of molecular alignment/orientation for harmonic generation with large ellipticity.

In this paper, we propose the CodeRetriever model, which learns the function-level code semantic representations through large-scale code-text contrastive pre-training. We adopt two contrastive learning schemes in CodeRetriever: unimodal contrastive learning and bimodal contrastive learning. For unimodal contrastive learning, we design an unsupervised learning approach to build semantic-related code pairs based on the documentation and function name. For bimodal contrastive learning, we leverage the documentation and in-line comments of code to build code-text pairs. Both contrastive objectives can fully leverage large-scale code corpus for pre-training. Extensive experimental results show that CodeRetriever achieves new state-of-the-art with significant improvement over existing code pre-trained models, on eleven domain/language-specific code search tasks with six programming languages in different code granularity (function-level, snippet-level and statement-level). These results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of CodeRetriever. This work investigates the nonlinear Rangwala-Rao equation, which stems from the mixed derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For retrieving new exact solutions to the equation, the complete discriminant system for polynomial method is employed. In results, some novel traveling wave solutions, including solitary wave solutions, triangular function solutions, periodic solutions and Jacobi elliptic function solutions are obtained and demonstrated through numerical simulations. The bifurcations of phase portraits of the traveling wave solutions are depicted to reveal the dynamic behavior of the Rangwala-Rao equation using the qualitative theory of dynamical systems. Furthermore, considering external perturbation, the chaotic motions of the perturbed Rangwala-Rao equation are investigated. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Federated learning algorithms enable neural network models to be trained across multiple decentralized edge devices without sharing private data. However, they are susceptible to backdoor attacks launched by malicious clients. Existing robust federated aggregation algorithms heuristically detect and exclude suspicious clients based on their parameter distances, but they are ineffective on Natural Language processing (NLP) tasks. The main reason is that, although text backdoor patterns are obvious at the underlying dataset level, they are usually hidden at the parameter level, since injecting backdoors into texts with discrete feature space has less impact on the statistics of the model parameters. To settle this issue, we propose to identify backdoor clients by explicitly modeling the data divergence among clients in federated NLP systems. Through theoretical analysis, we derive the f-divergence indicator to estimate the client data divergence with aggregation updates and Hessians. Furthermore, we devise a dataset synthesization method with a Hessian reassignment mechanism guided by the diffusion theory to address the key challenge of inaccessible datasets in calculating clients' data Hessians. We then present the novel Federated F-Divergence-Based Aggregation (Fed-FA) algorithm, which leverages the f-divergence indicator to detect and discard suspicious clients. Extensive empirical results show that Fed-FA outperforms all the parameter distance-based methods in defending against backdoor attacks among various natural language backdoor attack scenarios.

In this work, a Gong-Si-shaped circularly polarized (CP) array with power driver for 5G is proposed. The radiator of the constructed CP array consists of two Chinese-like characters ' and '' with the similar size and pronunciation of 'gong' and 'si', Two L-shaped feeding probes of the same size are connected to the designed power driver printed on the bottom layer of ground plate, and the array can radiate circular polarization electromagnetic waves by changing the positions of the L-shaped probes and the angle of the horizontal parts of the L-shaped probes. From the simulating and optimizing, it is finally obtained that the -15 dB bandwidth of modeled Gong-Si-like CP antenna lies in 2.49 - 2.81 GHz and the presented Gong-Si-like CP antenna has a axial bandwidth covering 2.36 - 2.82 GHz, which meets the n41 5G band implementing at 2.515 - 2.675 GHz. © 2022 IEEE.
