An inspection allocation algorithm based on different starting points and endurance capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is proposed for the multi-UAVs forest inspection process. Firstly, the area map to be inspected is rasterized, and the distances between the starting points of each UAV and individual grid cells are computed, which will be used for area decomposition. Subsequently, an evaluation function is employed to allocate individual grid cells reasonably to each UAV. Then, the boundary lines of the allocated sub-regions are generated, by which the raster map is converted into an inspection map with continuous boundaries. This ultimately yields the sub-regions for inspection by each UAV. Simulation results demonstrate that this method effectively allocates the forest inspection area to the various UAVs in a rational manner. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In this paper, we focus on the challenging yet practical problem of Continual Few-shot Relation Extraction (CFRE), which involves extracting relations in the continuous and iterative arrival of new data with only a few labeled examples. The main challenges in CFRE are overfitting due to few-shot learning and catastrophic forgetting caused by continual learning. To address these problems, we propose a novel framework called RK2DA, which seamlessly integrates prototype-based data augmentation and relational knowledge distillation. Specifically, RK2DA generates pseudo data by introducing Gaussian noise to the prototype embeddings and utilizes a novel two-phase multi-teacher relational knowledge distillation method to transfer diverse knowledge from different embedding spaces. Experimental results on the FewRel and TACRED datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

In order to achieve more efficient and accurate DDoS detection while ensuring data privacy, this paper proposes a DDoS detection method based on FLAD. Firstly, this paper uses the FLAD algorithm to train a global DDoS detection model without leaving local traffic data, protecting the privacy and security of traffic data between different hosts, and improving aggregation efficiency by dynamically adjusting the aggregation weights to adapt to different sub-dataset increments. Secondly, a DDoS traffic detection method based on the integration of LSTM and CNN is proposed, which extracts and analyzes the temporal correlation of traffic data by calculating the statistical characteristics of traffic data within a time period, to achieve real-time detection of traffic feature data. Again, combined with the concept of SDN, real-time defense against DDoS based on ODL-API is implemented, and precise matching of DDoS detection results with network entity information is achieved, realizing the technology of real-time and precise issuance of multiple flow rules, effectively blocking DDoS malicious attack traffic, protecting important entities in the topology, and maintaining stable traffic in the topology. This paper focuses on solving the detection problem of DDoS traffic data increments and uneven data distribution through the FLAD algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of DDoS attack detection by more than 4% and the F1 Score by more than 7% compared to the FedAvg aggregation algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) significantly improved the ability of Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve knowledge-intensive tasks. While existing research seeks to enhance RAG performance by retrieving higher-quality documents or designing RAG-specific LLMs, the internal mechanisms within LLMs that contribute to the effectiveness of RAG systems remain underexplored. In this paper, we aim to investigate these internal mechanisms within the popular Mixture-of-Expert (MoE)based LLMs and demonstrate how to improve RAG by examining expert activations in these LLMs. Our controlled experiments reveal that several core groups of experts are primarily responsible for RAG-related behaviors. The activation of these core experts can signify the model's inclination towards external/internal knowledge and adjust its behavior. For instance, we identify core experts that can (1) indicate the sufficiency of the model's internal knowledge, (2) assess the quality of retrieved documents, and (3) enhance the model's ability to utilize context. Based on these findings, we propose several strategies to enhance RAG's efficiency and effectiveness through expert activation. Experimental results across various datasets and MoE-based LLMs show the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Current research in computation offloading encompasses various aspects, including task partitioning and allocation, resource management, communication, and data management. This paper focuses on developing new algorithms and techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the offloading process while addressing challenges arising from dynamic and heterogeneous mobile environments. Researchers are also examining the trade-off between offloading benefits like improved performance and energy efficiency, and the associated overhead costs such as communication and data management. This paper proposes an optimization strategy for computational offloading to enhance the Grey Wolf algorithm. The solution aims to quickly optimize system energy consumption while considering the arithmetic power constraint of the mobile edge computing server and time delay constraints. Simulation experiments demonstrate that the algorithm in this paper significantly outperforms the traditional Grey Wolf and PSO algorithms in terms of both performance and computational speed. ©2023 IEEE.

Code contrastive pre-training has recently achieved significant progress on code-related tasks. In this paper, we present SCodeR, a Soft-labeled contrastive pre-training framework with two positive sample construction methods to learn functional-level Code Representation. Considering the relevance between codes in a large-scale code corpus, the soft-labeled contrastive pre-training can obtain fine-grained soft-labels through an iterative adversarial manner and use them to learn better code representation. The positive sample construction is another key for contrastive pre-training. Previous works use transformation-based methods like variable renaming to generate semantically equal positive codes. However, they usually result in the generated code with a highly similar surface form, and thus mislead the model to focus on superficial code structure instead of code semantics. To encourage SCodeR to capture semantic information from the code, we utilize code comments and abstract syntax sub-trees of the code to build positive samples. We conduct experiments on four code-related tasks over seven datasets. Extensive experimental results show that SCodeR achieves new state-of-the-art performance on all of them, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed pretraining method. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Metal artifacts in computed tomography (CT) images can significantly degrade image quality and impede accurate diagnosis. Supervised metal artifact reduction (MAR) methods, trained using simulated datasets, often struggle to perform well on real clinical CT images due to a substantial domain gap. Although state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods use pseudo ground-truths generated by a prior network to mitigate this issue, their reliance on a fixed prior limits both the quality and quantity of these pseudo ground-truths, introducing confirmation bias and reducing clinical applicability. To address these limitations, we propose a novel radiologist-in-the-loop self-training framework for MAR, termed RISE-MAR, which can integrate radiologists' feedback into the semi-supervised learning process, progressively improving the quality and quantity of pseudo ground-truths for enhanced generalization on real clinical CT images. For quality assurance, we introduce a clinical quality assessor model that emulates radiologist evaluations, effectively selecting high-quality pseudo ground-truths for semi-supervised training. For quantity assurance, our self-training framework iteratively generates additional high-quality pseudo groundtruths, expanding the clinical dataset and further improving model generalization. Extensive experimental results on multiple clinical datasets demonstrate the superior generalization performance of our RISE-MAR over state-of-the-art methods, advancing the development of MAR models for practical application. © 2025 IEEE.

Conventionally image translation is used to convert synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images to optical ones to increase interpretability. Due to the different imaging natures of SAR range sensing and optical directional projection, it is within the expectation that some kinds of SAR images could be reasonably translated into optical ones, while others not. Arguably, less good patches in the translated image could act as a potential indicator of salient differences of the two imaging mechanisms. Following this line of thought, considering in urban SAR images, the layover is mainly caused by buildings, we proposed a method to detect building layovers in SAR images by evaluating the correlation of the original SAR image and the translated one by the cycle-translation, that is, from SAR to optical to SAR translation. Because the presence of building is the main factor of the layover phenomenon in urban SAR images, building layover areas in SAR images are expected to be less correlated, or they should have a low correlation coefficient. Preliminary experiments validate our underlying principle and method. © 2022 SPIE.

Recent advancements in large language models have led to significant improvements in various natural language processing tasks, including automated question answering. However, these models still struggle with providing accurate responses to complex biology questions, such as those found in the National College Entrance Examination. To address this issue, researchers have explored retrieval-augmented generation techniques, which incorporate external knowledge sources to enhance answer accuracy. While these methods have shown promise in improving efficiency, they often lack the ability to perform in-depth analysis of complex questions. In response to these limitations, the paper proposes a novel ReAct agent-based question answering method. This method combines biology textbook document libraries with Google search engine capabilities, leveraging the strengths of large language models. By integrating these components, this method can engage in autonomous decision-making and multi-step reasoning, allowing for a more thorough analysis of complex biology questions. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this new approach. When compared to responses generated directly by ChatGPT and GPT-4o models, the method showed significant improvements in accuracy for biology questions from the National College Entrance Examination. Specifically, the new method achieved accuracy increases of 11.1% and 4.64% over ChatGPT and GPT-4o, respectively. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions. © 2023 IEEE.
