Recently, emerging phonon phenomena have been discovered and rapidly developed, which have become an active hot research topic. In this review article, we present state-of-the-art advances in several fascinating phonon transport phenomena. First, we summarize the recent progress on the wave nature of phonons, including phonon coherence and its effects on thermal conductivity and the topological properties of phonons. Then, we discuss the particle nature of phonons, including the weak coupling of phonons and the high-order phonon anharmonicity. Finally, we present the summary and a brief outlook. This review presents the advanced understanding of some emerging phonon phenomena in solid materials, which provides new opportunities for further advancement in a wide variety of applications.

The camera is affected by illumination changes and vignetting effect during the shooting process, resulting in the lack of brightness information, which affects the accuracy of target detection. In order to reduce the impact of illumination changes and vignetting effect on image quality, obtain images closer to the real scene, and improve the accuracy of target detection, this paper conducts photometric calibration on the image from two aspects: the calibration of CRF (Camera Response Function) and the compensation function of vignetting effect. This paper first uses the N-degree polynomial model to construct the camera response function, proposes a functional model of vignetting compensation based on the position of the pixel point, and finally combines the first two experimental results and conducts experimental verification on the data set before and after the photometric calibration on different algorithms of target detection. The experimental results show that the application of photometric calibration in the field of machine vision can improve the adaptability of machine vision to illumination changes and vignetting effect to a certain extent. The self-made data set is trained and tested, when IoU is 0.7, the mAP calculated by the test set after photometric calibration is improved by 2.3% compared with the original data set. © 2021 IEEE.

With the development of media technology, data types that cluster analysis needs to face become more and more complicated. One of the more typical problems is the clustering of multi-view data sets. Existing clustering methods are difficult to handle such data well. To remedy this deficiency, a multi-view weighted kernel fuzzy clustering method with collaborative evident and concealed views (MV-Co-KFCM) is put forward. To begin with, the hidden shared information is extracted from several different views of the data set by means of non-negative matrix factorization, then applied to this iterative process of clustering. This not only takes advantage of the difference information in distinct views, but also utilizes the consistency knowledge in distinct views. This pre-processing algorithm of extracting hidden information from multiple views (EHI-MV) is obtained. Furthermore, in order to coordinate different views during the iteration, a weight is distributed. In addition, so as to regulate the weight adaptively, shannon entropy regularization term is also introduced. Entropy can be maximized as far as possible by minimizing the objective function, thus MV-Co-KFCM algorithm is proposed. Facing 5 multi-view databases and comparing with 6 current leading algorithms, it is found that the algorithm which we put forward is more excellent as for 5 clustering validity indexes. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Motion planning in navigation systems is highly susceptible to upstream perceptual errors, particularly in human detection and tracking. To mitigate this issue, the concept of guidance points—a novel directional cue within a reinforcement learning-based framework—is introduced. A structured method for identifying guidance points is developed, consisting of obstacle boundary extraction, potential guidance point detection, and redundancy elimination. To integrate guidance points into the navigation pipeline, a perception-to-planning mapping strategy is proposed, unifying guidance points with other perceptual inputs and enabling the RL agent to effectively leverage the complementary relationships among raw laser data, human detection and tracking, and guidance points. Qualitative and quantitative simulations demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves the highest success rate and near-optimal travel times, greatly improving both safety and efficiency. Furthermore, real-world experiments in dynamic corridors and lobbies validate the robot’s ability to confidently navigate around obstacles and robustly avoid pedestrians. © 2025, CC BY.

Perturbation is an important property of fuzzy reasoning algorithms. It is an important task to estimate the upper and lower bounds of the output after a perturbation (such as an interval perturbation) is given to the input. In this study, the interval perturbation problem of a fuzzy reasoning algorithm, i.e., the ɑ-symmetric implicational algorithm, is researched systematically. For FMP (Fuzzy Modus Ponens) and FMT (Fuzzy Modus Tollens) problems of fuzzy reasoning, aiming at the case of a single rule, the estimation for the upper and lower bounds are obtained for the input interval disturbance, in which R-implications and (S, N)-implications are mainly employed. Then the stability is verified on account of the upper and lower bounds. Following that, for the multi-rule case, the upper and lower bounds of the output are also given, and the corresponding stability is validated. Studies have shown that learning personal stories could help provide individualized eldercare services. However, personal stories are often disordered because of the scattered collection, including informal interviews or daily interactions, which brings difficulties in acquiring valuable information quickly. One solution to this problem is to extract events from personal stories and automatically organize them in chronological order. Events extracted by current methods from social media or news corpus are mainly organized in a linear structure. These works usually focus on the event time and ignore the consistency of event contents when organizing events. This paper aims to organize events into a tree structure based on an event network, with stem nodes representing key event topics and branch nodes representing detailed events. Social workers or caregivers can clarify the life experience of the older adults quickly through the event tree and have a preliminary understanding of them. The experiments show that the event tree generated by our method has a better performance in consistency than current event organization methods. A survey study shows that our method achieves the highest logical coherence for the event tree branches compared with other algorithms. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accurate fault diagnosis of planetary gearboxes (PGs) is crucial for preventing equipment failures and extending their lifespan. To enhance the efficiency and accuracy of PG fault diagnosis, this paper proposes a novel method integrating intrinsic time scale decomposition (ITD) with convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed method leverages the demodulation capability of ITD to decompose and reconstruct the original signal, effectively removing irrelevant noise and isolating core fault features, and the learning ability of CNN to accurately identify the fault features. Compared to methods relying on CNN only, the proposed method not only improves the computational efficiency but also achieves higher fault diagnosis accuracy.

Pipes in various are dominated in in the process of industrial production. To avoid the pipeline leak due to inner corrosion, it is essential to develop pipe inspection mechanisms to detect the wall thickness of the pipes used in production. The paper presents three kinds of out-pipe detection mechanisms (ODM) for different petrochemical pipeline detection demands based on eddy current testing (ECT) method. A linear inspection mechanism with fixed length is firstly proposed to detect defects of straight pipe. Secondly, a rotary inspection mechanism is designed for pipeline weld detection. Besides, an out-pipe scanning wheeled robotic mechanism is developed to detect wall thickness of pipes and avoid small obstacles such as valves on the pipelines. Lastly, detection experiments and simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the designed out-pipe detection mechanisms.

Focusing on the pick-and-place operation in the electronic, packaging, and other light industries, this paper proposed a new type 3T1R (T-Translation, R-Rotation) high-speed parallel robot with two limbs. Compared with other 4-DOF high-speed parallel robots with four limbs, its structure is simpler while the working space is larger, such that the potential for cheaper usage in the industry is achieved. The robot's kinematic analysis and trajectory planning, including key aspects, are also outlined here. Firstly, the robot's closed-loop constraint equation is established using the vector chain method. The displacement, velocity, and acceleration models are derived, and the Jacobian matrix is obtained. On this basis, the gate shape trajectory is planned using the 3-4-5 polynomial motion rule, such that the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of the driving joint are obtained using the kinematic models above. Ultimately, the accuracy of the kinematic models is confirmed by comparing the theoretical outcomes with the simulations carried out in SolidWorks. The study presented in this paper establishes a firm basis for the dimensional integration and the creation of a physical model of the robot.

Vibration generated by road bumps can cause secondary injury to patients. The risk of secondary injury can be significantly reduced by attaching an active suspension system to isolation medical beds. In this paper, a five DOFs (degree of freedoms) hybrid mechanism is designed by combining a 3-P(UU) 2 mechanism and a 2-PUS mechanism through a universal joint, leading to 3T2R movement capabilities to reduce the vibration. The kinematic models are firstly established to evaluate the displacement, velocity and acceleration of the hybrid mechanism. On this basis, a typical trajectory is planned to simulate the movement capabilities of the mechanism by using the trapezoidal acceleration curve motion law. Finally, the effectiveness of the kinematic models is verified by compared the results with those simulated by SolidWorks. The research results of this paper provide a solid foundation to the dimensional synthesis of the hybrid mechanism.
