Constraining parity and Lorentz violations in gravity with future ground- and space-based gravitational wave detectors

The future ground- and space-based gravitational wave (GW) detectors offer unprecedented opportunities to test general relativity (GR) with greater precision. In this work, we investigate the capability of future ground-based GW detectors, the Einstein Telescope (ET) and the Cosmic Explorer (CE), and space-based GW detectors, LISA, Taiji, and TianQin, for constraining parity and Lorentz violations in gravity. We inject several typical GW signals from compact binary systems into GW detectors and perform Bayesian inferences with the modified waveforms with parity and Lorentz-violating effects. These effects are modeled in the amplitude and phase corrections to the GW waveforms with their frequency-dependence described by factors βν, βμ, βν¯, and βμ¯. Our results show that the combined observations of ET and CE will impose significantly tighter bounds on the energy scale of parity and Lorentz violations (MPV and MLV) compared to those given by LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) detectors. For cases with positive values of βν, βμ, βν¯, and βμ¯, the constraints on MPV and MLV from ground-based detectors are tighter than those from the space-based detectors. For the case of βμ=−1 space-based GW detectors provide constraints on MPV that are better than current LVK observations and comparable to those from ET and CE. Additionally, space-based detectors exhibit superior sensitivity in constraining MLV for βμ¯=−2 case, which is approximately 3 orders of magnitude tighter than those from ground-based GW detectors. This scenario also enables bounds on the graviton mass at mg≲10−35 GeV. These findings highlight the promising role of future GW observatories in probing fundamental physics beyond GR.

Highly Sensitive Acetic Anhydride Sensor Based on Cd-Doped Biphase In2o3 Microspheres

New drugs emerge in an endless stream, the global drug supply is increasing, and the number of drug users is steadily rising, so the detection of acetic anhydride-a raw material for drug preparation is of great significance for controlling the spread of drugs. The crystal phase of semiconductor metal oxides has an important impact on oxygen vacancy, microscopic morphology, specific surface area, and high-energy surface exposure, which in turn affects the catalytic and gas-sensing effects of materials. Ions doped can sometimes achieve the purpose of changing the crystal phase. In this paper, Cd-doped biphase (cubic phase and hexagonal phase) In2O3 nanospheres sensitive to acetic anhydride were synthesized via one easy hydrothermal process. The fabricated sensor has high sensitivity (372) to 100 ppm acetic anhydride in the dry environment of 220 °C, excellent selectivity and good stability. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to observe the crystal phase, elemental information and nanoscale appearance of the prepared compounds, and the gas-sensitive mechanism was briefly analyzed according to the characterization information. The enhancing acetic anhydride sensing properties are owing to the change of internal electronic channels and the crystal structure of In2O3 material caused by Cd-doped. © 2023, The Authors. Prospects for probing the interaction between dark energy and dark matter using gravitational-wave dark sirens with neutron star tidal deformation

Gravitational wave (GW) standard siren observations provide a rather useful tool to explore the evolution of the universe. In this work, we wish to investigate whether the dark sirens with neutron star (NS) deformation from third-generation (3G) GW detectors could help probe the interaction between dark energy and dark matter. We simulate the GW dark sirens of four detection strategies based on the three-year observation and consider four phenomenological interacting dark energy models to perform cosmological analysis. We find that GW dark sirens could provide tight constraints on Ωm and H0 in the four IDE models, but perform not well in constraining the dimensionless coupling parameter β with the interaction proportional to the energy density of cold dark matter. Nevertheless, the parameter degeneracy orientations of CMB and GW are almost orthogonal, and thus the combination of them could effectively break cosmological parameter degeneracies, with the constraint errors of β being 0.00068-0.018. In addition, we choose three typical equation of states (EoSs) of NS, i.e., SLy, MPA1, and MS1, to investigate the effect of NS’s EoS in cosmological analysis. The stiffer EoS could give tighter constraints than the softer EoS. Nonetheless, the combination of CMB and GW dark sirens (using different EoSs of NS) shows basically the same constraint results of cosmological parameters. We conclude that the dark sirens from 3G GW detectors would play a crucial role in helping probe the interaction between dark energy and dark matter, and the CMB+GW results are basically not affected by the EoS of NS. Exploring HI Galaxy Redshift Survey Strategies for the FAST Core Array Interferometry

We explore the feasibility of H I galaxy redshift surveys with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope(FAST) and its proposed Core Array *** semi-analytical simulations,we compare the performance of the FAST single-dish and Core Array modes in drift scan (DS) and on-the-fly (OTF) observations across different *** results show that the FAST single-dish mode enables significant H I detections at low redshifts (z■0.35) but is limited at higher redshifts due to shot *** Core Array interferometry,with higher sensitivity and angular resolution,provides robust H I galaxy detections up to z～1,maintaining a sufficient number density for power spectrum measurements and BAO *** low redshifts (z～0.01–0.08),both configurations perform well,though cosmic variance dominates *** higher redshifts (z>0.35),the Core Array outperforms the single-dish mode,while increasing the survey area has little impact on single-dish observations due to shot noise *** DS mode efficiently covers large sky areas but is constrained by Earth’s rotation,whereas the OTF mode allows more flexible deep-field surveys at the cost of operational *** findings highlight the importance of optimizing survey strategies to maximize FAST’s potential for H I *** Core Array is particularly well-suited for high-redshift H I galaxy surveys,enabling precise constraints on large-scale structure and dark energy.

Evolutionary transfer optimization(ETO) serves as "a new frontier in evolutionary computation research", which will avoid zero reuse of experience and knowledge from solved problems in traditional evolutionary computation. In schedule-ing applications via ETO, a highly competitive "meeting" framework between them could be constituted towards both intelligent scheduling and green scheduling, especially for carbon neutrality within the context of *** the best of our knowledge, our study on scheduling here, is the 1 st work of ETO for complex optimization when multi-objective problem "meets" single-objective problems in combinatorial case (not multitasking optimization). More specifically, key knowledge like positional building blocks clustered, could be learned and transferred for permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSP). Empirical studies on well-studied benchmarks validate relatively firm effectiveness and great potential of our proposed ETO-PFSP framework.

Prospects for Observing High-redshift Radio-loud Quasars in the SKA Era: Paving the Way for 21-cm Forest Observations

The 21-cm forest is a sensitive probe for the early heating process and small-scale structures during the epoch of reionization (EoR), to be realized with the upcoming Square Kilometre Array (SKA). Its detection relies on the availability of radio-bright background sources, among which the radio-loud quasars are very promising, but their abundance during the EoR is still poorly constrained due to limited observations. In this work, we use a physics-driven model to forecast future radio-loud quasar observations. We fit the parameters of the model using observational data of high-redshift quasars. Assuming Eddington accretion, the model yields an average lifetime of tq ∼ 105.5yr for quasars at z ∼ 6, consistent with recent results obtained from quasar proximity zone observation. We show that if the radio-loud fraction of quasars evolves with redshift, it will significantly reduce the abundance of observable radio-loud quasars in the SKA era, making 21-cm forest studies challenging. With a constant radio-loud fraction, our model suggests that a one-year sky survey conducted with SKA-LOW has the capability to detect approximately 20 radio-loud quasars at z ∼ 9, with sufficient sensitivity to resolve individual 21-cm forest lines. Background: The significance of pyroptosis as an inflammatory mode of death in ischemic stroke (IS) has attracted much attention in recent years. Effusol is a dihydrophenanthrene component extracted from Juncus effusus L. Previous studies have found that Juncus effusus L. has a good inhibitory effect against microglia activation. However, it is not clear whether effusol inhibits microglia over-activation and attenuates its mediated microglia pyroptosis in the treatment of IS. Purpose: The aim is to examine how effusol influences the initiation and activation stages of pyroptosis, as well as the NLRP3 inflammasome, resulting from microglial over-activation triggered post-IS. Methods: This study investigated the impact of effusol on neurological severity and edema to assess its neuroprotective effects in IS. Mechanistically, immunofluorescence and western blotting were applied to explore the initiation and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Finally, we employed the NLRP3 specific inhibitor, molecular docking, drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS), and cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA) to further explore the underlying targets of effusol. Results: Effusol mitigated IS-induced damage and downregulated the expression of inflammatory factors at the mRNA level, the protein levels of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear transcription factor NF-κB p65, and key components of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Effusol also mitigated mitochondrial damage by increasing ATP levels and decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential. Importantly, effusol targets NLRP3 protein to inhibit pyroptosis, thereby suppressing the hyperactivation of NLRP3 inflammasome. Conclusions: Effusol may be protective against IS by targeting NLRP3 proteins to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activation-mediated pyroptosis. This finding provides a theoretical basis and a prospective drug candidate for the treatment of effusol in IS. © 2024 Elsevier GmbH

This paper is devoted to studying the stability properties of the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) solution mapping SKKT for Nash equilibrium problems (NEPs) with canonical perturbations. Firstly, we obtain an exact characterization of the strong regularity of SKKT and a sufficient condition that is easy to verify. Secondly, we propose equivalent conditions for the continuously differentiable single-valued localization of SKKT. Thirdly, the isolated calmness of SKKT is studied based on two conditions —— Property A and Property B, and Property B proves to be sufficient for the robustness of both E(p) and SKKT under the convex assumptions, where E(p) denotes the Nash equilibria at perturbation p. Furthermore, we establish that studying the stability properties of the NEP with canonical perturbations is equivalent to studying those of the NEP with only tilt perturbations based on the prior discussions. Cosmological Parameter Estimation Using Current and Future Observations of Strong Gravitational Lensing

Remarkable development of cosmology is benefited from the increasingly improved measurements of cosmic distances including absolute distances and relative distances. In recent years, however, the emerged cosmological tensions motivate us to explore the independent and precise late-universe probes. The two observational effects of strong gravitational lensing (SGL), the velocity dispersions of lens galaxies and the time delays between multiple images, can provide measurements of relative and absolute distances respectively, and their combination is possible to break the degeneracies between cosmological parameters and enable tight constraints on cosmological parameters. In this paper, we combine the observed 130 SGL systems with velocity-dispersion measurements and 7 SGL systems with time-delay measurements to constrain dark-energy cosmological models. It is found that the combination of the two effects does not significantly break the degeneracies between cosmological parameters as expected. However, with the simulations of 8000 SGL systems with well-measured velocity dispersions and 55 SGL systems with well-measured time delays based on the forthcoming LSST survey, we find that the combination of two effects can significantly break the parameter degeneracies, and make the constraint precision of cosmological parameters meet the standard of precision cosmology. We conclude that the observations of SGL will become a useful late-universe probe for precisely measuring cosmological parameters. © 2022, CC BY.

The rapid evolution of the Internet of Underwater Things (IoUT) has led to the widespread adoption of autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV)-assisted underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) for various applications such as marine environment monitoring and resource exploration. This article introduces an energy-balanced data collection scheme tailored for AUV-supported UASNs. The proposed scheme combines a node clustering method based on a social welfare function and an intelligent path planning strategy for the AUV. The node clustering approach integrates canopy and K-means algorithms for initial node clustering, followed by reclustering using an enhanced hierarchical clustering algorithm. To balance energy distribution, Atkinson's social welfare function is employed to select and rotate cluster heads (CHs) within each cluster. To address limited CH memory constraints, a lossless compression technique is introduced to reduce data storage requirements at the CHs. Moreover, the article introduces the use of the deep Q-network (DQN) technique for AUV path planning, considering multiple pertinent factors simultaneously. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed data collection scheme effectively reduces energy consumption, prolongs network lifespan, and enhances data collection efficiency when compared to recent research endeavors. © 2014 IEEE.
