Multitasking evolutionary algorithms enable the communication of information between different tasks and the mining of valuable knowledge by encoding all individuals into a unified search space. The mapping of decision variables of the same dimension for different tasks in the unified search space has the same dimensional index, i.e., the same encoded position. In this paper, we disrupt this mapping relationship so that decision variables of the same dimension for different tasks correspond to different encoded positions in the unified search space, to analyze and discuss the effect of this mapping relationship on the performance of the algorithm. A series of experimental results suggest that the mapping relationship between the decision variables of different tasks in a multitasking evolutionary algorithm has a significant impact on the performance of the algorithm.

A forecast of using fast radio burst observations to constrain holographic dark energy

Recently, about five hundred fast radio bursts (FRBs) detected by CHIME/FRB Project have been reported. The vast amounts of data would make FRBs a promising low-redshift cosmological probe in the forthcoming years, and thus the issue of how many FRBs are needed for precise cosmological parameter estimation in different dark energy models should be detailedly investigated. Different from the usually considered w(z)-parameterized models in the literature, in this work we investigate the holographic dark energy (HDE) model and the Ricci dark energy (RDE) model, which originate from the holographic principle of quantum gravity, using the simulated localized FRB data as a cosmological probe for the first time. We show that the Hubble constant H0 can be constrained to about 2% precision in the HDE model with the Macquart relation of FRB by using 10000 accurately-localized FRBs combined with the current CMB data, which is similar to the precision of the SH0ES value. Using 10000 localized FRBs combined with the CMB data can achieve about 6% constraint on the dark-energy parameter c in the HDE model, which is tighter than the current BAO data combined with CMB. We also study the combination of the FRB data and another low-redshift cosmological probe, i.e. gravitational wave (GW) standard siren data, with the purpose of measuring cosmological parameters independent of CMB. Although the parameter degeneracies inherent in FRB and in GW are rather different, we find that more than 10000 FRBs are demanded to effectively improve the constraints in the holographic dark energy models. © 2021, CC BY.

Although general relativity (GR) has been precisely tested at the solar system scale, precise tests at a galactic or cosmological scale are still relatively insufficient. Here, in order to test GR at the galactic scale, we use the newly compiled galaxy-scale strong gravitational lensing (SGL) sample to constrain the parameter γPPN in the parametrized post-Newtonian (PPN) formalism. We employ the Pantheon sample of type Ia supernovae observation to calibrate the distances in the SGL systems using the Gaussian Process method, which avoids the logical problem caused by assuming a cosmological model within GR to determine the distances in the SGL sample. Furthermore, we consider three typical lens models in this work to investigate the influences of the lens mass distributions on the fitting results. We find that the choice of the lens models has a significant impact on the constraints on the PPN parameter γPPN. By using the minimum χ2 comparison and the Bayesian information criterion as evaluation tools to make comparisons for the fitting results of the three lens models, we find that the most reliable lens model gives the result of γPPN = 1.065+0.064−0.074, which is in good agreement with the prediction of γPPN = 1 by GR. As far as we know, our 6.4% constraint result is the best result so far among the recent works using the SGL method. © 2021, CC BY.

We use 47 gravitational-wave (GW) standard sirens from the third Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalog to calibrate distances in the strong gravitational lensing (SGL) system RXJ1131-1231 and constrain the Hubble constant (H0) via the distance sum rule, without assuming a specific cosmological model. For ΩK = 0, we obtain H 0 = 73.2 2 − 5.43 + 5.95 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹ and H 0 = 70.4 0 − 5.60 + 8.03 km s⁻¹ Mpc⁻¹ by breaking the mass-sheet transform using lens galaxy’s mass model and stellar kinematics, respectively. Allowing ΩK to vary increases the central value of H0 and reduces its precision. We find that GW dark sirens have significant potential for calibrating SGL systems, due to their relatively higher redshifts. By combining 42 binary black holes and RXJ1131-1231, we obtain an H0 constraint with a precision approximately 40% better than the measurement from GW170817 using the Hubble law. This suggests that high-precision, model-independent H0 measurements can be achieved with this method as the redshift range of GW dark sirens expands, even without the need for GW bright sirens.

Gravitational lensing by a black hole in effective loop quantum gravity

It is well known that general relativity is an effective theory of gravity at low energy scale, and actually quantum effects cannot be ignored in the strong-field regime. As a strong gravitational object, black hole plays a key role in testing the quantum effects of gravity in the strong-field regime. In this paper, we focus on black hole in effective loop quantum gravity and investigate what the influences are of the quantum effects on the weak and strong bending angles of light rays. We find that this black hole could be a Schwarzschild black hole, a regular black hole, a one-way traversable wormhole, or a two-way traversable wormhole for the different values of the quantum parameter, and the strong bending angle for this compact object exhibits two different divergent behaviors, i.e., the logarithmic divergence and non-logarithmic divergence. There are a series of relativistic images on both sides of the optical axis. Only the outermost one can be resolved as a single image, and all others are packed together at the limiting angular position. It is interesting to note that the angular separation between the outermost relativistic image and the others initially increases and then decreases as the quantum parameter increases, indicating that there is a maximum in the angular separation. The maximum is reached after the black hole becomes a wormhole, which can be taken as a signal for the formation of the wormhole. Moreover, the limiting angular position decreases as the quantum parameter increases but a little bounce occurs after the formation of the wormhole, and the relative magnification in magnitudes first decreases and then increases as the quantum parameter increases. © 2021, CC BY.

Observations of the intracluster medium (ICM) in the outskirts of galaxy clusters reveal shocks associated with gas accretion from the cosmic web. Previous work based on non-radiative cosmological hydrodynamical simulations have defined the shock radius, rshock, using the ICM entropy, K ∝ T/ne2/3, where T and ne are the ICM temperature and electron density respectively;the rshock is identified with either the radius at which K is a maximum or at which its logarithmic slope is a minimum. We investigate the relationship between rshock, which is driven by gravitational hydrodynamics and shocks, and the splashback radius, rsplash, which is driven by the gravitational dynamics of cluster stars and dark matter and is measured from their mass profile. Using 324 clusters from The Three Hundred project of cosmological galaxy formation simulations, we quantify statistically how rshock relates to rsplash. Depending on our definition, we find that the median rshock 1.38rsplash(2.58R200) when K reaches its maximum and rshock 1.91rsplash(3.54R200) when its logarithmic slope is a minimum;the best-fit linear relation increases as rshock ∝ 0.65rsplash. We find that rshock/R200 and rsplash/R200 anti-correlate with virial mass, M200, and recent mass accretion history, and rshock/rsplash tends to be larger for clusters with higher recent accretion rates. We discuss prospects for measuring rshock observationally and how the relationship between rshock and rsplash can be used to improve constraints from radio, X-ray, and thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich surveys that target the interface between the cosmic web and clusters.
