3D object detection is a core component of autonomous driving technology. As a basic format of 3D data, the point cloud can provide detailed geometric information of objects in original 3D space. PointNet algorithm pioneered end-to-end processing of point cloud data. This network adopts the same network extraction features for all input points, resulting in poor differentiation of foreground points (object points) and background points (non-object points), and a large number of background points inter-fere with detection results. To address these issues, we propose a Multi-Attention-based 3D object detection method (MA3D) to fuse features from point cloud, which firstly cap-tures deeper point cloud features through multi-scale feature fusion and then adaptively combines local features with their global dependencies. Based on the original point cloud feature extraction, we adopted spatial attention and channel attention to extract and combine the point cloud features in the spatial dimension and the channel dimension, respectively. Extensive experiments have been conducted on KITTI dataset and results show that the proposed MA3D outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. © 2022, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD. While deep learning has significantly advanced point cloud analysis, extracting effective features from their disordered structure remains challenging. Existing approaches often rely on complex network architectures or manual feature engineering to achieve rotation invariance, which increases inference latency. This paper offers a novel perspective on this challenge, showing that rotation-sensitive models can achieve performance comparable to rotation-invariant models when trained with rotation-augmented data. Given the significant differences in the feature distributions of rotation-sensitive and rotation-invariant models, we propose Feature Rotation Invariance Learning (FRIL), a framework that leverages Distance Metric Learning and rotation-based constraints to help rotation-sensitive models extract rotation-invariant features. This approach eliminates the need for additional modules, enabling robust performance against rotations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FRIL consistently outperforms existing rotation-invariant methods across various visual tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

Relation classification (RC) is becoming an increasingly significant subject in natural language processing. However, the public datasets suffer from the problem of class imbalance, which limits the performance and generalizability of the model. In this paper, we propose an approach that integrates the bidirectional encoder representation from transformers (BERT) model with focal loss to alleviate the influence of the class imbalance problem in RC datasets. By this way, the model can decrease the contribution of high-frequency instances and easy instances during training, allowing the model to rapidly concentrate on low-frequency instances and hard instances. As a consequence, experiments on the SemEval-2010 Task 8 benchmark dataset indicate that our method achieves a considerable advance above the previous methods, with a Macro-F1 score of 90.62%. © 2022 IEEE.

Targeted Pareto Optimization for Subset Selection With Monotone Objective Function and Cardinality Constraint

Subset selection, a fundamental problem in various domains, is to choose a subset of elements from a large candidate set under a given objective or multiple objectives. Pareto optimization for subset selection (POSS) has emerged as a powerful paradigm for addressing subset selection problems. Recently, some POSS variants have been proposed to further improve its performance. In this paper, we propose a new POSS variant, named Targeted Pareto Optimization for Subset Selection (TPOSS). TPOSS differs from POSS in four aspects: problem formulation, population initialization, mutation, and environmental selection. The main idea of TPOSS is to focus the search on the target region of subset selection with respect to the subset cardinality in order to improve the search efficiency. We conduct comprehensive experiments to compare TPOSS with six state-of-the-art algorithms on three subset selection tasks (i.e., sparse regression, unsupervised feature selection, and hypervolume subset selection) where the size of the candidate sets ranges from 20 to 400. Experimental results show that with respect to the objective value of the best feasible subset, TPOSS outperforms the other algorithms on all the three tasks, which suggests the potential of TPOSS to enhance subset selection in various domains. Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. We used the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)to search for the molecular emissions in the L-band between 1.0 and 1.5 GHz toward four comets,C/2020 F3(NEOWISE),C/2020 R4(ATLAS),C/2021 A1(Leonard),and 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko during or after their perihelion *** of molecular transition lines fall in this low-frequency range,many attributed to complex organic or prebiotic *** conducted a blind search for the possible molecular lines in this frequency range in those comets and could not identify clear signals of molecular emissions in the *** several molecules have been detected at high frequencies of greater than100 GHz in comets,our results confirm that it is challenging to detect molecular transitions in the L-band frequency *** non-detection of L-band molecular lines in the cometary environment could rule out the possibility of unusually strong lines,which could be caused by the masers or non-LTE *** the line strengths are predicted to be weak,for FAST,using the ultra-wide bandwidth receiver and improving the radio frequency interference environments would enhance the detectability of those molecular transitions at low frequencies in the future.

This paper studies adaptive target detection in compound-Gaussian clutter for a colocated multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar. A new one-step generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) is devised with all the involved unknown parameters estimated iteratively. Besides, a minor revision is made to the already existing two-step GLRT for this problem. Numerical examples show that both the two detectors are effective. For the considered simulation setup, the newly proposed detector can achieve higher detection rates than the revised one and competitors designed in Gaussian clutter scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

The worldwide spread of COVID-19 has made a severe impact on human health and life. It has shown rapid propagation, long in vitro survival, and a long incubation period. More seriously, COVID-19 is more susceptible to variation, as it is an RNA virus. Mutations of COVID-19 have been reported in multiple countries worldwide, which makes drug and vaccine development a significant challenge. To search for potential drugs and vaccines and reveal the atlas of COVID-19 evolution, we extract information from massive unstructured data and construct a COVID-19 knowledge graph using the COVID-19 data. Based on machine learning approaches, we infer and predict novel coronavirus pneumonia-related diseases, drug action targets, etc. to speculate on new and more effective treatment methods. In addition, to study transcriptome of SARS-CoV-2, new ideas can be provided to biomedical experts with flexible responses to viral variation. An in-depth analysis of the COVID-19 pathomechanism at the pharmaceutical, genetic, and protein levels provides effective means and tools for novel coronavirus pneumonia vaccines, drug development, and therapeutic program design. © 2021 IEEE.

Tourist flow prediction faces challenges in achieving high accuracy due to the complex and dynamic nature of tourism data. This study addresses these challenges by proposing a multi-feature combined prediction model, Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise-Incremental Entropy-K-means clustering-Time Convolutional Network-Coati Optimization Algorithm (CEEMDAN-IEK-TT-COA). The model integrates signal decomposition, clustering reconstruction, component prediction, and optimization algorithms. key features are selected through feature engineering, followed by data decomposition and reconstruction using CEEMDAN, Incremental Entropy, and K-means clustering. A model pool of Time Convolutional Network (TCN), Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (Bi-GRU), Long Short-Term Memory network (LSTM), and Transformer filters optimal sub-models for combined prediction. The Coati Optimization Algorithm (COA) refines the final prediction. Experimental results on Jiuzhaigou and Siguniangshan datasets demonstrate significant RMSE improvements of 21.81 % and 17.84 %, validating the model's effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
