Federated learning is a new type of distributed learning framework that allows multiple participants to share training results without revealing their data *** data privacy becomes more important,it becomes difficult to collect data from multiple data owners to make machine learning predictions due to the lack of data *** is forced to be stored independently between companies,creating“data silos”.With the goal of safeguarding data privacy and security,the federated learning framework greatly expands the amount of training data,effectively improving the shortcomings of traditional machine learning and deep learning,and bringing AI algorithms closer to our *** the context of the current international data security issues,federated learning is developing rapidly and has gradually moved from the theoretical to the applied *** paper first introduces the federated learning framework,analyzes its advantages,reviews the results of federated learning applications in industries such as communication and healthcare,then analyzes the pitfalls of federated learning and discusses the security issues that should be considered in applications,and finally looks into the future of federated learning and the application layer.

Don’t Ignore the Drive of Curiosity: Rethinking Subtleties Between Universality of Commonsense knowledge and Excellence of Large Language Models

Commonsense reasoning is one of the abilities necessary for artificial intelligence to be as intelligent as humans. However, how to make AI understand commonsense has been a problem that has plagued artificial intelligence for more than 60 years. Existing efforts focus more on the means of knowledge acquisition and strive to enrich the capacity of commonsense knowledge (CSK) bases and dimensions of CSK through advanced methods. Unfortunately, this exuberance has obscured a general consideration of CSK, such as how to follow human habits to obtain the most representative knowledge we need to understand the world. In this paper, this representative knowledge is referred to as core CSK. The influence of core CSK is extensive, and it constitutes almost the fundamental element of human life and the most fundamental cognition of the world. Harnessing human curiosity to find solutions to the above problems is an effective and straightforward route. Specifically, we focus on a special corpus to mine core CSK, namely, why-questions. For example, we can harvest “the sky is blue” from “why is the sky blue?”. To this end, we propose a novel method to extract CSK from why-questions, which mainly consist of two modules. The first is a question classification module used to determine whether a question contains CSK. In this module, we propose a classifier based on a one-sided bootstrapping method and design several informative features for the classifier. The second is a crowdsourcing module used to improve the quality of the extracted commonsense. We conduct extensive experiments, and the experimental results show that our method effectively mines CSK from question corpora. Furthermore, statistical analysis demonstrates the feasibility of this curiosity-driven approach, implying that we provide a basic idea for collecting core CSK. A Review-aware Graph Contrastive Learning Framework for Recommendation

Most modern recommender systems predict users’ preferences with two components: user and item embedding learning, followed by the user-item interaction modeling. By utilizing the auxiliary review information accompanied with user ratings, many of the existing review-based recommendation models enriched user/item embedding learning ability with historical reviews or better modeled user-item interactions with the help of available user-item target reviews. Though significant progress has been made, we argue that current solutions for review-based recommendation suffer from two drawbacks. First, as review-based recommendation can be naturally formed as a user-item bipartite graph with edge features from corresponding user-item reviews, how to better exploit this unique graph structure for recommendation? Second, while most current models suffer from limited user behaviors, can we exploit the unique self-supervised signals in the review-aware graph to guide two recommendation components better? To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel Review-aware Graph Contrastive Learning (RGCL) framework for review-based recommendation. Specifically, we first construct a review-aware user-item graph with feature-enhanced edges from reviews, where each edge feature is composed of both the user-item rating and the corresponding review semantics. This graph with feature-enhanced edges can help attentively learn each neighbor node weight for user and item representation learning. After that, we design two additional contrastive learning tasks (i.e., Node Discrimination and Edge Discrimination) to provide self-supervised signals for the two components in recommendation process. Finally, extensive experiments over five benchmark datasets demonstrate the superiority of our proposed RGCL compared to the state-of-the-art baselines. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In view of the frequent occurrence of dangerous forest diseases and insect pests in China, which have caused varying degrees of damage to forest resources and ecological environment, this study designed a niche monitoring system for forest diseases and insect pests based on STM32 and the Internet of Things. The design uses STM32 as the data acquisition terminal and repeater, and transmits data to the cloud via the Internet through the W5500 module, realizing remote monitoring of the host computer's webpage. Through this monitoring system, users can understand the environmental information and historical conditions that have a greater impact on forest diseases and insect pests in the deployment area of the system at any time, including carbon dioxide concentration, oxygen concentration, soil pH, temperature and humidity, light intensity, etc., collected by the system The terminal can adapt to about 20 kinds of sensors, and can easily and comprehensively monitor and manage different forest niches. This study provides a basis for forest pest monitoring, which can efficiently and timely provide forest ecological environment information and reduce the consumption of human and material resources. Are Large Language Models Really Good Logical Reasoners? A Comprehensive Evaluation and Beyond

Logical reasoning consistently plays a fundamental and significant role in the domains of knowledge engineering and artificial intelligence. Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have emerged as a noteworthy innovation in natural language processing (NLP). However, the question of whether LLMs can effectively address the task of logical reasoning, which requires gradual cognitive inference similar to human intelligence, remains unanswered. To this end, we aim to bridge this gap and provide comprehensive evaluations in this paper. Firstly, to offer systematic evaluations, we select fifteen typical logical reasoning datasets and organize them into deductive, inductive, abductive and mixed-form reasoning settings. Considering the comprehensiveness of evaluations, we include 3 early-era representative LLMs and 4 trending LLMs. Secondly, different from previous evaluations relying only on simple metrics (e.g., accuracy), we propose fine-level evaluations in objective and subjective manners, covering both answers and explanations, including answer correctness, explain correctness, explain completeness and explain redundancy. Additionally, to uncover the logical flaws of LLMs, problematic cases will be attributed to five error types from two dimensions, i.e., evidence selection process and reasoning process. Thirdly, to avoid the influences of knowledge bias and concentrate purely on benchmarking the logical reasoning capability of LLMs, we propose a new dataset with neutral content. Based on the in-depth evaluations, this paper finally forms a general evaluation scheme of logical reasoning capability from six dimensions (i.e., Correct, Rigorous, Self-aware, Active, Oriented and No hallucination). A remaining useful life (RUL) prediction algorithm considering temporal uncertainty, individual variability uncertainty, and unmodeled dynamic uncertainty is proposed for hidden degradation process with unmeasurable degradation index. First, the degradation model integrating multiple uncertainties is established. Then, the estimated distribution of degradation index and degradation model parameters are iteratively computed using the nonlinear filter. Finally, based on the real-time multiple uncertainties information, the probability density function (PDF) is adaptively updated, achieving the RUL prediction for hidden degradation process with the influence of multiple uncertainties.

With the implementation of the "Internet+" strategy, electronic medical records are generally applied in the medical field. Deep mining of electronic medical record content data is an effective means to obtain medical knowledge and analyse patients' states, but the existing methods for extracting entities from electronic medical records have problems of redundant information, overlapping entities, and low accuracy rates. Therefore, this paper proposes an entity extraction method for electronic medical records based on the network framework of BERT-Bi LSTM, which incorporates a multichannel self-attention mechanism and location relationship features. First, the text input sequence was encoded using the BERT-BiLSTM network framework, and the global semantic information of the sentence was mined more deeply using the multichannel self-attention mechanism. Then, the position relation characteristic was used to extract the local semantic message of the text, and the position relation characteristic of the word and the position embedding matrix of the whole sentence were obtained. Next, the extracted global semantic information was stitched with the positional embedding matrix of the sentence to obtain the current entity classification matrix. Finally,the proposed method was validated on the dataset of Chinese medical text entity relationship extraction and the 2010i2b2/VA relationship corpus, and the experimental results indicate that the proposed method surpasses existing methods in terms of precision, recall, F1 value and training time.

Multimodal Recommendation Systems (MRSs) boost traditional user-item interaction-based methods by incorporating multimodal information. However, existing methods ignore the inherent noise brought by (1) noisy semantic priors in multimodal content, and (2) noisy user interactions in history records, therefore diminishing model performance. To fill this gap, we propose to denoise MRSs by jointly EValuating structure Effectiveness and mitigating Noisy links (EVEN). Firstly, for semantic prior noise in multimodal content, EVEN builds item homogeneous consistency and denoises it by evaluating behavior-driven confidence. Secondly, for noise in user interactions, EVEN updates user feedback by denoising observed interactions following implicit contribution evaluation of high-order representations. Thirdly, EVEN performs cross-modal alignment through self-guided structure learning, reinforcing task-specific inter-modal dependency modeling and cross-modal fusion. Through extensive experiments on three widely-used datasets, EVEN achieves an average improvement of 8.95% and 5.90% in recommendation accuracy compared with LGMRec and FREEDOM, respectively, without extending the total training time.
