Real-time and dynamic monitoring of soil moisture is critically essential for farming activities and crop yield estimation. This paper focuses on the study of surface soil moisture (SSM) in agricultural fields with different vegetation sparsity. Based on the improved water cloud model (WCM) and convolutional neural network (CNN), the SSM inversion of agricultural fields covered with winter wheat at different growth stages was achieved. Firstly, the vegetation cover factor was introduced into the WCM to separate the scattering contribution under crop cover from the direct scattering contribution from the bare ground. Then, the remote sensing data was used to derive numerous characteristic parameters to the SSM. Finally, the CNN model was established for the purpose of SSM inversion. The better correlation between the backscattering coefficients obtained by the improved WCM simulations and the measured SSM was shown. The coefficients of determination were 0.46 and 0.39 under VV and VH polarization, respectively. Better inversion accuracy can be obtained by combining the two parameters with other characteristic parameters as input data into the CNN model for SSM inversion. The coefficient of determination was 0.75, root mean square error was 2.51 vol.% and mean absolute error was 2.12 vol.%. Therefore, the method can effectively separate the effects of agricultural crops and bare ground on radar signals, which contributes a novel research approach and guidance for handling SSM inversion in agricultural fields covered by vegetation. © 2023 SPIE.

RESDSQL: Decoupling Schema Linking and Skeleton Parsing for Text-to-SQL

One of the recent best attempts at Text-to-SQL is the pre-trained language model. Due to the structural property of the SQL queries, the seq2seq model takes the responsibility of parsing both the schema items (i.e., tables and columns) and the skeleton (i.e., SQL keywords). Such coupled targets increase the difficulty of parsing the correct SQL queries especially when they involve many schema items and logic operators. This paper proposes a ranking-enhanced encoding and skeleton-aware decoding framework to decouple the schema linking and the skeleton parsing. Specifically, for a seq2seq encoder-decode model, its encoder is injected by the most relevant schema items instead of the whole unordered ones, which could alleviate the schema linking effort during SQL parsing, and its decoder first generates the skeleton and then the actual SQL query, which could implicitly constrain the SQL parsing. We evaluate our proposed framework on Spider and its three robustness variants: Spider-DK, Spider-Syn, and Spider-Realistic. With the development of information technology,malware threats to the industrial system have become an emergent issue,since various industrial infrastructures have been deeply integrated into our modern works and *** identify and classify new malware variants,different types of deep learning models have been widely explored ***,sufficient data is usually required to achieve a well-trained deep learning classifier with satisfactory generalization ***,in current practical applications,an ample supply of data is absent in most specific industrial malware detection *** learning as an effective approach can be used to alleviate the influence of the small sample size *** addition,it can also reuse the knowledge from pretrained models,which is beneficial to the real-time requirement in industrial malware *** this paper,we investigate the transferable features learned by a 1D-convolutional network and evaluate our proposed methods on 6 transfer learning *** experiment results show that 1D-convolutional architecture is effective to learn transferable features for malware classification,and indicate that transferring the first 2 layers of our proposed 1D-convolutional network is the most efficient way to reuse the learned features.

Image captioning is a vision-language task that targets at describing an image by generating a coherent sentence automatically. This technology allows computers to understand and describe images like humans, enabling further processing of images. It combines computer vision and natural language processing, which has broad applications. This paper investigates the use of vision-language pre-trained models for image captioning. In this article, an encoder-decoder hybrid model based on PVT and BERT is pre-trained on a large number of image-text pairs, possessing both understanding and generation capabilities. It consists of three components: 1) an image encoder and a text encoder to extract image and text features respectively;2) a multi-modal encoder to align the two modalities;and 3) a text decoder to generate text descriptions. This paper focuses on enhancing the image encoder of the model, which is crucial for image captioning models as it extracts high-resolution image features. Reducing training time and computational costs can also improve the applicability of pre-trained models. Improvements are made to the original model by modifying the ViT model architecture of the image encoding module. A feature pyramid structure and a spatial reduction attention mechanism is introduced to extract high-resolution image features while reducing computational complexity and memory usage, thereby enhancing the universality of the model. The model adopts a pure Transformer architecture, discarding the convolutional structure, and achieves excellent performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Predicting student performance is a fundamental task in Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs), by which we can learn about students’ knowledge level and provide personalized teaching strategies for them. Researchers have made plenty of efforts on this task. They either leverage educational psychology methods to predict students’ scores according to the learned knowledge proficiency, or make full use of Collaborative Filtering (CF) models to represent latent factors of students and exercises. However, most of these methods either neglect the exercise-specific characteristics (e.g., exercise materials), or cannot fully explore the high-order interactions between students, exercises, as well as knowledge concepts. To this end, we propose a Graph-based Exercise- and knowledge-Aware Learning Network for accurate student score prediction. Specifically, we learn students’ mastery of exercises and knowledge concepts respectively to model the two-fold effects of exercises and knowledge concepts. Then, to model the high-order interactions, we apply graph convolution techniques in the prediction process. Extensive experiments on two real-world datasets prove the effectiveness of our proposed Graph-EKLN. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Diffusion models are initially designed for image generation. Recent research shows that the internal signals within their backbones, named activations, can also serve as dense features for various discriminative tasks such as semantic segmentation. Given numerous activations, selecting a small yet effective subset poses a fundamental problem. To this end, the early study of this field performs a large-scale quantitative comparison of the discriminative ability of the activations. However, we find that many potential activations have not been evaluated, such as the queries and keys used to compute attention scores. Moreover, recent advancements in diffusion architectures bring many new activations, such as those within embedded ViT modules. Both combined, activation selection remains unresolved but overlooked. To tackle this issue, this paper takes a further step with a much broader range of activations evaluated. Considering the significant increase in activations, a full-scale quantitative comparison is no longer operational. Instead, we seek to understand the properties of these activations, such that the activations that are clearly inferior can be filtered out in advance via simple qualitative evaluation. After careful analysis, we discover three properties universal among diffusion models, enabling this study to go beyond specific models. On top of this, we present effective feature selection solutions for several popular diffusion models. Finally, the experiments across multiple discriminative tasks validate the superiority of our method over the SOTA competitors. Human-robot collaboration (HRC) plays an important role in human-centric manufacturing, which requires cooperative robots to have the ability of collaborate with human autonomously. It is very complex to understand the intention of human during the assembly process, therefore, we proposed a method of autonomous HRC assembly driven by the fusion of large language model (LLM) and digital twin in this paper. The assembly state is recognized from two perspectives, including the perception of key parts based on transfer learning and YOLO, and perceive operator actions based on LSTM and attention mechanism. In order to improve the autonomy of HRC, a collaborative task decision method driven by fine-tuning LLM based on assembly domain knowledge is proposed. A case study of reducer assembly is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Fine-grained Cross-modal Fusion based Refinement for Text-to-Image Synthesis

Text-to-image synthesis refers to generating visual-realistic and semantically consistent images from given textual descriptions. Previous approaches generate an initial low-resolution image and then refine it to be high-resolution. Despite the remarkable progress, these methods are limited in fully utilizing the given texts and could generate text-mismatched images, especially when the text description is complex. We propose a novel Fine-grained text-image Fusion based Generative Adversarial Networks, dubbed FF-GAN, which consists of two modules: Fine-grained text-image Fusion Block (FF-Block) and Global Semantic Refinement (GSR). The proposed FF-Block integrates an attention block and several convolution layers to effectively fuse the fine-grained word-context features into the corresponding visual features, in which the text information is fully used to refine the initial image with more details. And the GSR is proposed to improve the global semantic consistency between linguistic and visual features during the refinement process. Multi-Target Track Initiation in Heavy Clutter

In the heavy clutter environment, the information capacity is large,the relationships among information are complicated, and track initiationoften has a high false alarm rate or missing alarm rate. Obviously, it is adifficult task to get a high-quality track initiation in the limited measurementcycles. This paper studies the multi-target track initiation in heavy *** first, a relaxed logic-based clutter filter algorithm is presented. In thealgorithm, the raw measurement is filtered by using the relaxed logic *** not only design a kind of incremental and adaptive filtering gate, but alsoadd the angle extrapolation based on polynomial extrapolation. The algorithm eliminates most of the clutter and obtains the environment with highdetection rate and less clutter. Then, we propose a fuzzy sequential Houghtransform-based track initiation algorithm. The algorithm establishes a newmeshing rule according to system noise to balance the relationship between thegrid granularity and the track initiation quality. And a flexible superpositionmatrix based on fuzzy clustering is constructed, which avoids the transformation error caused by 0–1 voting method in traditional Hough *** addition, the algorithm allows the superposition matrixes of nonadjacentcycles to be associated to overcome the shortcoming that the track can’t beinitiated in time when the measurements appear in an intermittent way. Anda slope verification method is introduced to detect formation-intensive serialtracks. Last, the sliding window method is employed to feedback the trackinitiation results timely and confirm the track. Simulation results verify thatthe proposed algorithms can initiate the tracks accurately in heavy clutter.
