High-temperature optoelectronic synaptic devices based on 4H-SiC

Optoelectronic synaptic devices operating at high temperatures have application potential across many important fields, including the aerospace and defense industries. However, limited research exists on such devices. Herein, we fabricate4H-SiC-based high-temperature optoelectronic synaptic devices that are capable of achieving diverse synaptic functionalities at temperatures as high as 600 K. The synaptic functionalities are realized for these devices through carrier capture and release of the deep-level defects introduced via electronic irradiation. A 3 × 3 array of high-temperature optoelectronic synaptic devices enables the image memory functions. A neural network model constructed using this array addresses the issue of color quantization. The optoelectronic synaptic devices thus developed are capable of high-temperature applications.

Soft robots have shown great advantages with simple structure,high degree of freedom,continuous deformation,and benign human-machine *** the past decades,a variety of soft robots,including crawling,jumping,swimming,and climbing robots,have been developed inspired by living ***,most of the reported bionic soft robots have only a single mode of motion,which limits their practical ***,we report a fully 3D printed crawling and flipping soft robot using liquid metal incorporated liquid crystal elastomer(LM-LCE)composite as the *** the application of voltage,liquid metal works as the conductive Joule heating material to induce the contraction of the LCE *** bending angle of the LM-LCE composite actuator highly depends on the applied *** further demonstrate that the soft robot can exhibit distinct moving behaviors,such as crawling or flipping,by applying different *** fully 3D printed LM-LCE composite structure provides a strategy for the fast construction of soft robots with diverse motion modes.

Perovskite solar cell has gained widespread attention as a promising technology for renewable ***, their commercial viability has been hampered by their long-term stability and potential Pb leakage. Herein, we demonstrate a bifunctional passivator of the potassium tartrate(PT) to address both challenges. PT minimizes the Pb leakage in perovskites and also heals cationic vacancy defects, resulting in improved device performance and stability. Benefiting from PT modification, the power conversion efficiency(PCE) is improved to 23.26% and the Pb leakage in unencapsulated films is significantly reduced to 9.79 ppm. Furthermore, the corresponding device exhibits no significant decay in PCE after tracking at the maximum power point(MPP) for 2000 h under illumination(LED source, 100 mW cm^(-2)).

Mechanical and electrochemical properties of(MoNbTaTiZr)1-xNx high-entropy nitride coatings

High-entropy materials possess high hardness and strong wear resistance,yet the key bottleneck for their practical applications is the poor corrosion resistance in harsh *** this work,the high-entropy nitride(HEN)coatings of(MoNbTaTiZr)1-xNx(x=0-0.47)were fabricated using a hybrid di-rect current magnetron sputtering *** research focus was dedicated to the effect of nitrogen content on the microstructure,mechanical and electrochemical *** results showed that the as-deposited coatings exhibited a typical body-centered cubic(BCC)structure without nitrogen,while the amorphous matrix with face-centered cubic(FCC)nanocrystalline grain was observed at x=*** increasing x in the range of 0.35-0.47 caused the appearance of polycrystalline FCC phase in *** with the MoNbTaTiZr metallic coating,the coating containing nitrogen favored the high hard-ness around 13.7-32.4 GPa,accompanied by excellent tolerance both against elastic and plastic ***,such N-containing coatings yielded a low corrosion current density of about 10-8-10-7 A/cm2 and high electrochemical impedance of 106 Ω cm2 in 3.5 wt.％NaCl solution,indicating the supe-rior corrosion *** reason for the enhanced electrochemical behavior could be ascribed to the spontaneous formation of protective passive layers over the coating surface,which consisted of the domi-nated multi-elemental oxides in chemical ***,noted that the(MoNbTaTiZr)0.83N0.17 coat-ing displayed the highest hardness of 32.4±2.6 GPa and H/E ratio at 0.09,together with remarkable cor-rosion resistance,proposing the strongest capability for harsh-environmental applications required both good anti-wear and anti-corrosion performance.

Prediction of lime utilization ratio of dephosphorization in BOF steelmaking based on online sequential extreme learning machine with forgetting mechanism

The machine learning models of multiple linear regression(MLR),support vector regression(SVR),and extreme learning ma-chine(ELM)and the proposed ELM models of online sequential ELM(OS-ELM)and OS-ELM with forgetting mechanism(FOS-ELM)are applied in the prediction of the lime utilization ratio of dephosphorization in the basic oxygen furnace steelmaking *** ELM model exhibites the best performance compared with the models of MLR and ***-ELM and FOS-ELM are applied for sequential learning and model *** optimal number of samples in validity term of the FOS-ELM model is determined to be 1500,with the smallest population mean absolute relative error(MARE)value of 0.058226 for the *** variable importance analysis reveals lime weight,initial P content,and hot metal weight as the most important variables for the lime utilization *** lime utilization ratio increases with the decrease in lime weight and the increases in the initial P content and hot metal weight.A prediction system based on FOS-ELM is applied in actual industrial production for one *** hit ratios of the predicted lime utilization ratio in the error ranges of±1%,±3%,and±5%are 61.16%,90.63%,and 94.11%,*** coefficient of determination,MARE,and root mean square error are 0.8670,0.06823,and 1.4265,*** system exhibits desirable performance for applications in actual industrial pro-duction.

Developing an industrially relevant electrode with high catalytic activity,stability,and tunable composi-tion/size for large-scale water electrolysis is a significant *** have created an integrated elec-trode(NFM30-N)for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)using a facile top-down approach that combines arc melting with *** to the dealloying-oxidation effect,the as-derived porous amor-phous M-O,M-OH,and M-OOH(M=Ni,Fe)nanocones cover the basic NiFeMn *** integrated design enables NFM30-N to exhibit outstanding OER performance at high current densities,requiring low overpotentials of only 282 and 323 mV to achieve large current densities of 100 and 500 mA cm-2,*** also displays a small Tafel slope of 44.1 mV dec-1 and remarkable stability for over 100 h at 100 and 500 mA *** used as an anode,a two-electrode electrolyzer cell with NFM30-N at 500 mA cm-2 only requires a cell voltage of 1.619 V and exhibits excellent stability,with almost no per-formance degradation after continuous chronopotentiometry test for each 100 h at 500 and 100 mA *** exceptional OER electrocatalytic performance is attributed to the integrated structure providing high electrical conductivity and stability,the presence of numerous active sites due to dealloying and the amorphous structure,and the promotion of the OER process by M-O,M-OH,and M-OOH *** work offers a novel idea for fabricating integrated,industrially relevant electrocatalytic electrodes through traditional metallurgy combined with dealloying-oxidation.

Tailoring microenvironment for efficient CO_(2)electroreduction through nanoconfinement strategy

The electrocatalytic conversion of CO_(2)to produce fuels and chemicals holds great promise,not only to provide an alternative to fossil feedstocks,but also to use renewable electricity to convert and recycle the greenhouse gas CO_(2)to mitigate climate ***,the selectivity and reaction rates for the conversion of CO_(2)into desirable carbon-based products,especially multicarbon products with high added value,are still insufficient for commercial applications,which is attributed to insufficiently favourable microenvironmental conditions in the vicinity of the *** construction of catalysts/electrodes with confined structures can effectively improve the reaction microenvironment in the vicinity of the electrodes and thus effectively direct the reaction towards the desired *** this review,we firstly introduce the effects of the microenvironment at the electrode-electrolyte interface including local pH,local intermediate concentration,and local cation concentration on CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)as well as the mechanism of action,and then shed light on the microenvironmental modulation within the confined space,and finally and most importantly,introduce the design strategy of CO_(2)RR catalyst/electrode based on the confinement effect.

Preventing formation of intermetallic compounds in ultrasonic-assisted Sn soldering of Mg/Al alloys through pre-plating a Ni coating layer on the Mg substrate

Magnesium and aluminum alloys are widely used in various industries because of their excellent properties,and their reliable connection may increase application of *** compounds(IMCs)affect the joint performance of Mg/*** this study,AZ31 Mg alloy with/without a nickel(Ni)coating layer and 6061 Al alloy were joined by ultrasonic-assisted soldering with Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu(SAC)*** effects of the Ni coating layer on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg/Al joints were systematically *** Ni coating layer had a significant effect on formation of the Mg_(2)Sn IMC and the mechanical properties of Mg/Al *** blocky Mg_(2)Sn IMC formed in the Mg/SAC/Al joints without a Ni coating *** content of the Mg_(2)Sn IMC increased with increasing soldering temperature,but the joint strength *** joint without a Ni coating layer fractured at the blocky Mg_(2)Sn IMC in the solder,and the maximum shear strength was 32.2 *** pre-plating Ni on the Mg substrate,formation of the blocky Mg_(2)Sn IMC was inhibited in the soldering temperature range 240–280℃and the joint strength ***,when the soldering temperature increased to 310℃,the blocky Mg_(2)Sn IMC precipitated again in the *** electron microscopy showed that some nano-sized Mg_(2)Sn IMC and the(Cu,Ni)_(6)Sn_(5)phase formed in the Mg(Ni)/SAC/Al joint soldered at 280℃,indicating that the Ni coating layer could no longer prevent diffusion of Mg into the solder when the soldering temperature was higher than 280℃.The maximum shear strength of the Mg(Ni)/SAC/Al joint was 58.2 MPa for a soldering temperature of 280℃,which was 80.7%higher than that of the Mg/SAC/Al joint,and the joint was broken at the Mg(Ni)/SAC ***-plating Ni is a feasible way to inhibit formation of IMCs when joining dissimilar metals.
