Joint Resource Management for Energy-efficient UAV-Assisted SWIPT-MEC: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

The integration of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) technology in 6G Internet of Things (IoT) networks faces significant challenges in remote areas and disaster scenarios where ground infrastructure is unavailable. This paper proposes a novel unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) system enhanced by directional antennas to provide both computational resources and energy support for ground IoT terminals. However, such systems require multiple trade-off policies to balance UAV energy consumption, terminal battery levels, and computational resource allocation under various constraints, including limited UAV battery capacity, non-linear energy harvesting characteristics, and dynamic task arrivals. To address these challenges comprehensively, we formulate a bi-objective optimization problem that simultaneously considers system energy efficiency and terminal battery sustainability. We then reformulate this non-convex problem with a hybrid solution space as a Markov decision process (MDP) and propose an improved soft actor-critic (SAC) algorithm with an action simplification mechanism to enhance its convergence and generalization capabilities. Simulation results have demonstrated that our proposed approach outperforms various baselines in different scenarios, achieving efficient energy management while maintaining high computational performance. Furthermore, our method shows strong generalization ability across different scenarios, particularly in complex environments, validating the effectiveness of our designed boundary penalty and charging reward mechanisms. © 2014 IEEE.

In augmented reality, smart devices need to sense their own position in real physical space and complex scene structure to achieve good virtual reality interaction and three-dimensional registration. This paper proposes a technical framework of visual SLAM, which uses VO and BA methods based on feature points to obtain pose, and applies it to the augmented reality system to realize pose estimation, registration, tracking, collision and other effects of intelligent equipment independent of artificial or natural landmarks. © 2019 IEEE.

Distantly Supervised Relation Extraction via Recursive Hierarchy-Interactive Attention and Entity-Order Perception

Wrong-labeling problem and long-tail relations severely affect the performance of distantly supervised relation extraction task. Many studies mitigate the effect of wrong-labeling through selective attention mechanism and handle long-tail relations by introducing relation hierarchies to share knowledge. However, almost all existing studies ignore the fact that, in a sentence, the appearance order of two entities contributes to the understanding of its semantics. Furthermore, they only utilize each relation level of relation hierarchies separately, but do not exploit the heuristic effect between relation levels, i.e., higher-level relations can give useful information to the lower ones. Based on the above, in this paper, we design a novel Recursive Hierarchy-Interactive Attention network (RHIA) to further handle long-tail relations, which models the heuristic effect between relation levels. From the top down, it passes relation-related information layer by layer, which is the most significant difference from existing models, and generates relation-augmented sentence representations for each relation level in a recursive structure. Besides, we introduce a newfangled training objective, called Entity-Order Perception (EOP), to make the sentence encoder retain more entity appearance information. Substantial experiments on the popular New York Times (NYT) dataset are conducted. Compared to prior baselines, our RHIA-EOP achieves state-of-the-art performance in terms of precision-recall (P-R) curves, AUC, Top-N precision and other evaluation metrics. Introduction: Activity cliff (AC) is a phenomenon that a pair of similar molecules differ by a small structural alternation but exhibit a large difference in their biochemical activities. This phenomenon affects various tasks ranging from virtual screening to lead optimization in drug development. The AC of small molecules has been extensively investigated but limited knowledge is accumulated about the AC phenomenon in pharmaceutical peptides with canonical amino acids. Objectives: This study introduces a quantitative definition and benchmarking framework AMPCliff for the AC phenomenon in antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) composed by canonical amino acids. Methods: This study establishes a benchmark dataset of paired AMPs in Staphylococcus aureus from the publicly available AMP dataset GRAMPA, and conducts a rigorous procedure to evaluate various AMP AC prediction models, including nine machine learning, four deep learning algorithms, four masked language models, and four generative language models. Results: A comprehensive analysis of the existing AMP dataset reveals a significant prevalence of AC within AMPs. AMPCliff quantifies the activities of AMPs by the metric minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and defines 0.9 as the minimum threshold for the normalized BLOSUM62 similarity score between a pair of aligned peptides with at least two-fold MIC changes. Our analysis reveals that these models are capable of detecting AMP AC events and the pre-trained protein language model ESM2 demonstrates superior performance across the evaluations. The predictive performance of AMP activity cliffs remains to be further improved, considering that ESM2 with 33 layers only achieves the Spearman correlation coefficient 0.4669 for the regression task of the −log(MIC) values on the benchmark dataset. MXenes are 2D materials with great potential in various applications. However, the degradation of MXenes in humid environments has become a main obstacle in their practical use. Here we combine deep neural networks and an active learning scheme to develop a neural network potential (NNP) for aqueous MXene systems with ab initio precision but low cost. The oxidation behaviors of super large aqueous MXene systems are investigated systematically at nanosecond timescales for the first time. The oxidation process of MXenes is clearly displayed at the atomic level. Free protons and oxides greatly inhibit subsequent oxidation reactions, leading to the degree of oxidation of MXenes to exponentially decay with time, which is consistent with the oxidation rate of MXenes measured experimentally. Importantly, this computational study represents the first exploration of the kinetic process of oxidation of super-sized aqueous MXene systems. It opens a promising avenue for the future development of effective protection strategies aimed at controlling the stability of MXenes.

Currently, security and quality of service (QoS) are critical for any network. The main purpose of security mechanisms is to provide identity authentication, protect information, and ensure that the received information is not tampered with; the aim of QoS is to provide better network communication services. Security and QoS are not independent of each other. The security mechanism affects QoS and vice versa. Both QoS and security pose resource management problems and are conflicting when resources are limited. QoS requires security mechanisms to ensure proper allocation and service cost, and an inappropriate security mechanism will reduce the performance of the communication quality. Currently, numerous real-time, big data, and diverse applications and services have emerged. Moreover, the number of potential threats is expected to increase dramatically. Therefore, combining QoS and security is important. However, as they are difficult to model owing to their internal conflict, QoS and security are normally separated or optimized at a particular point using game theory. From the perspective of resource allocation, this study uses optimization method and considers security and QoS resource optimization by dividing resources into two categories: space (bandwidth) and time (delay). In order to harmonize the QoS and security, in this paper, the two conflicting terms "communication" and "security" are considered as two individual aspect. Furthermore, we construct a model wherein the joint utility is maximized by controlling the packet length. We formulate the utility functions of these two aspects with respect to the effective throughput. The results show that the presented optimization method enables a mobile node to adaptively select specific packet length based on the optimum curve. With the obtained packet length values, the joint utility reach to the maximum so that satisfactory communication quality can be realized without compromising the security, thereby improvi

Background: Histopathology diagnosis is often regarded as the final diagnostic method for malignant tumors, but it has some drawbacks. This paper explores a computer-aided diagnostic method that can identify benign and malignant gastric cancer with histopathology images. Method: This article obtains the most suitable process through multiple experiments, compared multiple methods and features for classification. Firstly, the U-net is applied to segment the image. Next, the nucleus is extracted from the segmented image and the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) diagram structure is drawn. The third step is to extract the graph-curvature features of histopathology image according to the MST image. Finally, by inputting graph-curvature features into the classifier, the recognition results for benign or malignant can be obtained. Result: During the experiment, we use various methods for comparison. In the image segmentation stage, U-net, watershed algorithm and Otsu threshold segmentation methods are used respectively. Combined with multiple indicators, we find that the U-net method is the most suitable for segmentation of histopathology images. In the feature extraction stage, in addition to extracting graph-edge feature and graph-curvature feature, several basic image features are also extracted, including Red, Green, Blue feature, Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix feature, Histogram of Oriented Gradient feature, and Local Binary Pattern feature. In the classifier design stage, we experimented with various methods, such as Support vector machine (SVM), Random forest, Artificial Neural Network, K Nearest Neighbors, VGG-16 and Inception-V3. Through the comparison and analysis, the classification results with an accuracy of 98.57% can be obtained by inputting the graph-curvature feature into SVM classifier. Copy-move forgery detection mainly includes block-based and interest point-based methods, but both of them have shortcomings, such as weak resistance to affine transformations, weak ability to locate the forged region. To solve these problems, a novel algorithm is proposed in this paper, which involves two-stage search algorithm. The first stage takes image blocks as the search unit, and in the second stage, the forger region is searched at the pixel level. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performants better compared to recent state-of-the-art methods.

The Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is a well-known combinatorial optimization problem with broad real-world applications. Recently, neural networks have gained popularity in this research area because as shown in the literature, they provide strong heuristic solutions to TSPs. Compared to autoregressive neural approaches, non-autoregressive (NAR) networks exploit the inference parallelism to elevate inference speed but suffer from comparatively low solution quality. In this paper, we propose a novel NAR model named NAR4TSP, which incorporates a specially designed architecture and an enhanced reinforcement learning strategy. To the best of our knowledge, NAR4TSP is the first TSP solver that successfully combines RL and NAR networks. The key lies in the incorporation of NAR network output decoding into the training process. NAR4TSP efficiently represents TSP encoded information as rewards and seamlessly integrates it into reinforcement learning strategies, while maintaining consistent TSP sequence constraints during both training and testing phases. Experimental results on both synthetic and real-world TSPs demonstrate that NAR4TSP outperforms five state-of-the-art models in terms of solution quality, inference speed, and generalization to unseen scenarios.
