Digital personal health libraries: A systematic literature review

Objective: This paper gives context on recent literature regarding the development of digital personal health libraries (PHL) and provides insights into the potential application of consumer health informatics in diverse clinical specialties. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Here, 2,850 records were retrieved from PubMed and EMBASE in March 2020 using search terms: personal, health, and library. Information related to the health topic, target population, study purpose, library function, data source, data science method, evaluation measure, and status were extracted from each eligible study. In addition, knowledge discovery methods, including co-occurrence analysis and multiple correspondence analysis, were used to explore research trends of PHL. Results: After screening, this systematic review focused on a dozen articles related to PHL. These encompassed health topics such as infectious diseases, congestive heart failure, electronic prescribing. data science methods included relational database, information retrieval technology, ontology construction technology. Evaluation measures were heterogeneous regarding PHL functions and settings. At the time of writing, only one of the PHLs described in these articles is available for the public while the others are either prototypes or in the pilot stage. Discussion: Although PHL researches have used different methods to address problems in diverse health domains, there is a lack of an effective PHL to meet the needs of older adults. Conclusion: The development of PHLs may create an unprecedented opportunity for promoting the health of older consumers by providing diverse health information. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. One of the aspects of the game is building walls. In this paper, we present an algorithm that can be used for wall building for an agent playing the game of StarCraft: Brood War.

Recently, the Linked data Cloud has achieved a size of more than 100 billion facts pertaining to a multitude of domains. However, accessing this information has been significantly challenging for lay users. Approaches to problems such as Question Answering on Linked data and Link Discovery have notably played a role in increasing information access. These approaches are often based on handcrafted and/or statistical models derived from data observation. Recently, Deep Learning architectures based on Neural Networks called seq2seq have shown to achieve the state-of-the-art results at translating sequences into sequences. In this direction, we propose Neural SPARQL Machines, end-to-end deep architectures to translate any natural language expression into sentences encoding SPARQL queries. Our preliminary results, restricted on selected DBpedia classes, show that Neural SPARQL Machines are a promising approach for Question Answering on Linked data, as they can deal with known problems such as vocabulary mismatch and perform graph pattern composition. � 2018 CEUR-WS. As pairwise ranking becomes broadly employed for elections, sports competitions, recommendation, information retrieval and so on, attackers have strong motivation and incentives to manipulate or disrupt the ranking list. They could inject malicious comparisons into the training data to fool the target ranking algorithm. Such a technique is called "poisoning attack" in regression and classification tasks. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, we initiate the first systematic investigation of data poisoning attack on the pairwise ranking algorithms, which can be generally formalized as the dynamic and static games between the ranker and the attacker, and can be modeled as certain kinds of integer programming problems mathematically. To break the computational hurdle of the underlying integer programming problems, we reformulate them into the distributionally robust optimization (DRO) problems, which are computational tractable. Based on such DRO formulations, we propose two efficient poisoning attack algorithms and establish the associated theoretical guarantees including the existence of Nash equilibrium and the generalization ability bounds. The effectiveness of the suggested poisoning attack strategies is demonstrated by a series of toy simulations and several real data experiments. These experimental results show that the proposed methods can significantly reduce the performance of the ranker in the sense that the correlation between the true ranking list and the aggregated results with toxic data can be decreased dramatically. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Recently, patent data analysis has attracted a lot of attention, and patent keyword extraction is a hot problem. Most existing methods for patent keyword extraction are based on the frequency of words without semantic information. In this paper, we propose an Unsupervised Keyword Extraction Method (UKEM) based on Chinese patent clustering. More specifically, we use a Skip-gram model to train word embeddings based on a Chinese patent corpus. Then each patent is represented as a vector called patent vector. These patent vectors are clustered to obtain several cluster centroids. Next, the distance between each word vector in patent abstract and cluster centroid is computed to indicate the semantic importance of this word. The experimental results on several Chinese patent datasets show that the performance of our proposed method is better than several competitive methods.

We propose a generalized optimization framework for detecting anomalous patterns (subgraphs that are interesting or unexpected) in interdependent networks, such as multi-layer networks, temporal networks, networks of networks, and many others. We frame the problem as a non-convex optimization that has a general nonlinear score function and a set of block-structured and non-convex constraints. We develop an effective, efficient, and parallelizable projection-based algorithm, namely Graph Block-structured Gradient Projection (GBGP), to solve the problem. It is proved that our algorithm 1) runs in nearly-linear time on the network size, and 2) enjoys a theoretical approximation guarantee. Moreover, we demonstrate how our framework can be applied to two very practical applications, and we conduct comprehensive experiments to show the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed algorithm.

Recent years saw a fast development of quantum algorithms that solve combinatorial optimization problems, such as graph coloring, by finding the ground state of a suitable quantum system. Inspired by this, we show how to couple phase-oscillators on a graph so that collective dynamics ‘searches’ for the coloring of that graph as it relaxes towards the dynamical equilibrium. This translates a combinatorial optimization problem (graph coloring) into a continuous optimization problem (finding and evaluating the global minimum of dynamical non-equilibrium potential, done by the natural system’s evolution). Using a sample of graphs we show that our method performs at least as good as traditional combinatorial algorithms and can serve as a viable alternative to them. Moreover, we show that with the same computational cost our method efficiently solves the harder problem of improper coloring of weighed graphs. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The Research on Balancing Theories and Mechanisms to Pervasive Information Systems (B2P) is one of the component studies of the Records-centered Digital Information Management Theory and Mechanisms (DI{R}Mtm) Project, which aims pointedly at synchronizing records/information related research interests with the evolution of information technologies and their joint impact on society. Due to the breakthroughs in cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, ubiquitous/pervasive computing, conceived in 1988, has now been rapidly advanced. As its materialization in organizations, pervasive information systems (PISs) converges information technologies, data, digital operations and human actors and functions as the main channel for digital decisions. Digital decisions, therefore, are autonomous, algorithmic and penetrating, possessing influential abilities that are much greater than any single technology in human history, including the Internet. Such abilities make it a strong force for societal advancement, yet, at the same time, a potential hurdle – even harm – for decision recipients who are unaware of the decision-making methods. The B2P study is conceived as a reaction to this phenomenon. This paper gives an overview of the B2P study and calls for collaborations among researchers from the various fields relevant to the aims of the study, i.e., archival science, records management, information science, pubic administration, law, social sciences, and computer sciences.
