In this paper, we propose a robust representation learning model called Adaptive Structure-constrained Low-Rank Coding (AS-LRC) for the latent representation of data. To recover the underlying subspaces more accurately, AS-LRC seamlessly integrates an adaptive weighting based block-diagonal structure-constrained low-rank representation and the group sparse salient feature extraction into a unified framework. Specifically, AS-LRC performs the latent decomposition of given data into a low-rank reconstruction by a block-diagonal codes matrix, a group sparse locality-adaptive salient feature part and a sparse error part. To enforce the block-diagonal structures adaptive to different real datasets for the low-rank recovery, AS-LRC clearly computes an auto-weighting matrix based on the locality-adaptive features and multiplies by the low-rank coefficients for direct minimization at the same time. This encourages the codes to be block-diagonal and can avoid the tricky issue of choosing optimal neighborhood size or kernel width for the weight assignment, suffered in most local geometrical structures-preserving low-rank coding methods. In addition, our AS-LRC selects the L2, 1-norm on the projection for extracting group sparse features rather than learning low-rank features by Nuclear-norm regularization, which can make learnt features robust to noise and outliers in samples, and can also make the feature coding process efficient. Extensive visualizations and numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of our AS-LRC for image representation and recovery.

Recently, super-resolution methods pursue visual pleasant details attract more attention in academic circle. Unlike former accurate driving models, they leverage new losses measured the difference of features extracting from a pre-trained deep learning model. Moreover, the popular GANs structure are introduced to approach better outputs. In general, these new visual feeling promoting losses are constrained by the learning ability of model and effected by the weakness of GANs. In order to address these problems, we propose a novel SR method to generating abundant details. Based on former SR methods and texture generated models, we combine new model constructure and integrated loss function to achieve our goal. The new constructure derives from the very thought that more information from the LR input leads to more accurate results. The new integrated loss try to decrease the weakness of each one by corresponding loss.. Experiments show that our model achieves higher quality generations than former methods.

More and more user comments like Tweets are available, which often contain user concerns. In order to meet the demands of users, a good summary generating from multiple documents should consider reader interests as reflected in reader comments. In this article, we focus on how to generate a summary from multi-document documents by considering reader comments, named as reader-Aware multi-document summarization (RA-MDS).We present an innovative topic-based method for RA-MDA, which exploits latent topics to obtain the most salient and lessen redundancy summary from multiple documents. Since finding latent topics for RA-MDS is a crucial step, we also present a Heterogeneous-length Text Topic Modeling (HTTM) to extract topics from the corpus that includes both news reports and user comments, denoted as heterogeneous-length texts. In this case, the latent topics extract by HTTM cover not only important aspects of the event, but also aspects that attract reader interests. Comparisons on summary benchmark datasets also confirm that the proposed RA-MDS method is effective in improving the quality of extracted summaries. In addition, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed topic modeling method outperforms existing topic modeling algorithms. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery. All rights reserved.

This research presents a novel statistical model for diagnosing acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The model is based on features extracted from a reduced lead system consisting of a subset of three leads from the standard 12-lead ECG. We selected a set of relevant parameters commonly used in the clinical practice for ECG-based AMI diagnosis, namely ST elevation and T-wave maximum. We also selected features, not used in clinical practice, that were derived from vectorcardiography and computed on the reduced three-lead system (pseudo-VCG parameters). To validate the model, we used 104 patients coming from the Physionet STAFF III database which contains 12-lead ECG recordings at baseline and in coronary artery occlusion condition during angioplasty (PTCA). Results show that pseudo-VCG features are able to diagnose AMI slightly better than ST elevation and T-wave maximum features together (area under the ROC curve (AUC) 0.87 vs AUC 0.85). When combining pseudo-VCG features together with ST elevation, and T-wave maximum, the performance improved significantly (AUC 0.95, sensitivity 89.6% and specificity 82.7%). Results indicate a potential for diagnosing AMI using the proposed reduced lead system and the selected set of features. We suggest its possible use for diagnosing AMI in long-term, ambulatory and home monitoring situations, allowing an earlier and faster diagnosis.

Learning personalized attribute preference via multi-task auc optimization

Traditionally, most of the existing attribute learning methods are trained based on the consensus of annotations aggregated from a limited number of annotators. However, the consensus might fail in settings, especially when a wide spectrum of annotators with different interests and comprehension about the attribute words are involved. In this paper, we develop a novel multi-task method to understand and predict personalized attribute annotations. Regarding the attribute preference learning for each annotator as a specific task, we first propose a multi-level task parameter decomposition to capture the evolution from a highly popular opinion of the mass to highly personalized choices that are special for each person. Meanwhile, for personalized learning methods, ranking prediction is much more important than accurate classification. This motivates us to employ an Area Under ROC Curve (AUC) based loss function to improve our model. On top of the AUC-based loss, we propose an efficient method to evaluate the loss and gradients. Theoretically, we propose a novel closed-form solution for one of our non-convex subproblem, which leads to provable convergence behaviors. Furthermore, we also provide a generalization bound to guarantee a reasonable performance. Finally, empirical analysis consistently speaks to the efficacy of our proposed method. —Segmentation of abdominal organs has been a comprehensive, yet unresolved, research field for many years. In the last decade, intensive developments in deep learning (DL) have introduced new state-of-the-art segmentation systems. Despite outperforming the overall accuracy of existing systems, the effects of DL model properties and parameters on the performance is hard to interpret. This makes comparative analysis a necessary tool to achieve explainable studies and systems. Moreover, the performance of DL for emerging learning approaches such as cross-modality and multi-modal tasks have been rarely discussed. In order to expand the knowledge in these topics, CHAOS – Combined (CT-MR) Healthy Abdominal Organ Segmentation challenge has been organized in the IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), 2019, in Venice, Italy. Despite a large number of the previous abdomen related challenges, the majority of which are focused on tumor/lesion detection and/or classification with a single modality, CHAOS providesboth abdominal CT and MR data from healthy subjects. Five different and complementary tasks have been designed to analyze the capabilities of the current approaches from multiple perspectives. The results are investigated thoroughly, compared with manual annotations and interactive methods. The outcomes are reported in detail to reflect the latest advancements in the field. CHAOS challenge and data will be available online to provide a continuous benchmark resource for segmentation. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Research on the motivation to contribution and influencing factors of university students——a semi-structured interview based on qualitative research

Due to the lack of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, the university students have many deficiencies in contribution. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 28 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Nanjing Agricultural University. At the same time, we used descriptive statistics and cross-analysis methods to analyse the motivations of college students' initial contribution and the influencing factor of their choice. Based on this, this paper puts forward some suggestions for the initial submission of college students, and the journals are also provided for reference in the selection of manuscripts.

Research on Influencing Factors of College Students' Intention of Online Health Information Behavior Based on Social Cognitive Theory

Based on the Social Cognition Theory, we constructed the influencing factors model of college students' intention of online health information behavior from three levels of individual, society and information systems, which was analyzed by using the PLS-SEM. Research shows that self-efficacy, information service quality, social support, information literacy and information quality significantly influence college students' intention of online health information behavior. However, the influence of perceived risk and information system quality is not significant.

Deep learning (DL) architectures for super-resolution (SR) normally contain tremendous parameters, which has been regarded as the crucial advantage for obtaining satisfying performance. However, with the widespread use of mobile phones for taking and retouching photos, this character greatly hampers the deployment of DL-SR models on the mobile devices. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose a super lightweight SR network: s-LWSR. There are mainly three contributions in our work. Firstly, in order to efficiently abstract features from the low resolution image, we build an information pool to mix multi-level information from the first half part of the pipeline. Accordingly, the information pool feeds the second half part with the combination of hierarchical features from the previous layers. Secondly, we employ a compression module to further decrease the size of parameters. Intensive analysis confirms its capacity of trade-off between model complexity and accuracy. Thirdly, by revealing the specific role of activation in deep models, we remove several activation layers in our SR model to retain more information for performance improvement. Extensive experiments show that our s-LWSR, with limited parameters and operations, can achieve similar performance to other cumbersome DL-SR methods. Copyright © 2019, The Authors.
