Game-playing AI research has focused for a long time on learning to play video games from visual input or symbolic information. However, humans benefit from a wider array of sensors which we utilise in order to navigate the world around us. In particular, sounds and music are key to how many of us perceive the world and influence the decisions we make. In this paper, we present initial experiments on game-playing agents learning to play video games solely from audio cues. We expand the Video Game Description Language to allow for audio specification, and the General Video Game AI framework to provide new audio games and an API for learning agents to make use of audio observations. We analyse the games and the audio game design process, include initial results with simple Q-Learning agents, and encourage further research in this area. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. BibSonomy is a web-based social resource sharing system which allows users to organise and share bookmarks and publications in a collaborative manner. Apart from standard folksonomy features such as an intuitive user interface, navigation along all dimensions, or browser integration via RSS feeds, BibSonomy provides tag hierarchies, group management and privacy features, and numerous import and export functions.

We investigate the problem of choice overload - the difficulty of making a decision when faced with many options - when displaying related-article recommendations in digital libraries. So far, research regarding to how many items should be displayed has mostly been done in the fields of media recommendations and search engines. We analyze the number of recommendations in current digital libraries. When browsing fullscreen with a laptop or desktop PC, all display a fixed number of recommendations. 72% display three, four, or five recommendations, none display more than ten. We provide results from an empirical evaluation conducted with GESIS' digital library Sowiport, with recommendations delivered by recommendations-as-a-service provider Mr. DLib. We use click-through rate as a measure of recommendation effectiveness based on 3.4 million delivered recommendations. Our results show lower click-through rates for higher numbers of recommendations and twice as many clicked recommendations when displaying ten instead of one related-articles. Our results indicate that users might quickly feel overloaded by choice. © 2017, CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

The data required for automatic optimization of user services usually exists in current systems, but that data is not modelled or linked in a way that facilitates automation. knowledge engineering is a promising approach for managing the disparate communication service quality management information data sets and the links across those data sets. Once a knowledge base is in place, semantic techniques can be used to analyse and suggest optimizations to service quality. This paper describes our work in building, populating and evaluating a knowledge base for an IPTV service in Home Area Networks. Population of the knowledge base was implemented using terminal reports. The characteristics of the approach were evaluated through experimentation and the evaluation results are presented in this paper.

The curse of dimensionality is a phenomenon frequently observed in machine learning (ML) and knowledge discovery (KD). There is a large body of literature investigating its origin and impact, using methods from mathematics as well as from computer science. Among the mathematical insights into data dimensionality, there is an intimate link between the dimension curse and the phenomenon of measure concentration, which makes the former accessible to methods of geometric analysis. The present work provides a comprehensive study of the intrinsic geometry of a data set, based on Gromov's metric measure geometry and Pestov's axiomatic approach to intrinsic dimension. In detail, we define a concept of geometric data set and introduce a metric as well as a partial order on the set of isomorphism classes of such data sets. Based on these objects, we propose and investigate an axiomatic approach to the intrinsic dimension of geometric data sets and establish a concrete dimension function with the desired properties. Our model for data sets and their intrinsic dimension is computationally feasible and, moreover, adaptable to specific ML/KD-algorithms, as illustrated by various *** Codes 03G10 51F99 68P05 68T01. Hand motion tracking plays a vital role in health-care like Physical therapy (PT) rehabilitation that helps the patients restore their physical movement of the hand. These treatments are taken by patients suffering from stroke, accidents, and any other kind of neurological disorder. We have developed a low-cost system to track hand movements and detect the gestures of hand for unsupervised home training. The system integrated a convolutional neural network-based hand motion system and a gesture detection system to serve a training session sequential for hand movement rehabilitation. We combined part of open datasets and our novel dataset(total: 16605, 4 labels) for the final training, six directions, and four gestures were predicted in real-time based on our proposed model. An adaptive GUI application was developed to respond to individual performance patterns. This system can be deployed easily on a laptop/PC with a web camera, which makes it easier and low-costs for a doctor to track the hand movement of the patients and also support to quantify the improvements index after several training sessions. These tracked data can also be stored and sent to the remote clinic center and used for further studies. This kind of system would be beneficial to the patients and the training center intelligently. It could be deployed at home or the clinic with more optimization of functions such as safety measures.

Factorizing Lattices by Interval Relations

This work investigates the factorization of finite lattices to implode selected intervals while preserving the remaining order structure. We examine how complete congruence relations and complete tolerance relations can be utilized for this purpose and answer the question of finding the finest of those relations to implode a given interval in the generated factor lattice. To overcome the limitations of the factorization based on those relations, we introduce a new lattice factorization that enables the imploding of selected disjoint intervals of a finite lattice. To this end, we propose an interval relation that generates this factorization. To obtain lattices rather than arbitrary ordered sets, we restrict this approach to so-called pure intervals. For our study, we will make use of methods from Formal Concept Analysis (FCA). We will also provide a new FCA construction by introducing the enrichment of an incidence relation by a set of intervals in a formal context, to investigate the approach for lattice-generating interval relations on the context *** Codes 06B05, 06B10, 68R01 Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Routing of contextual information within ubiquitous computing environments is a key challenge that must be tackled for such environments to be successful. It is accepted that such routing systems need to cope with mobile and volatile sources and destinations of contextual information, and semantic-based publish subscribe systems have been proposed as a means to support this. However such systems typically assume a common semantic model underpinning the routing which limits their ability to cope with heterogeneity. In contrast, the authors have developed a semantic-based publish subscribe system that is unique in allowing several semantic models to support routing. It is known from previous work that the number of semantic models in memory directly impacts on performance of routing, and that different loading strategies are needed, the selection of which is influenced by: the characteristics of the semantic model itself, the applications using the system and the network environment. This paper however just focuses on the experiments that have been undertaken to determine the key semantic model characteristics that may influence the selection of which loading strategy to use.

In order to evaluate the efficacy of new research approaches as well as existing systems for management of end user service sessions, it is necessary to set up controlled sessions in a realistic, measurable, and repeatable manner. While service delivery clients support automation of end user sessions and expose mechanisms for retrieval of end user service experience and context, there is no single manner for collection of service experience and context measurements, or for collation and delivery of those measurements to a management system. The Service Experience and Context COllection (SECCO) framework was developed to fulfil three roles. Firstly, it allows end user service sessions to be run in a controlled manner. Secondly, it records end user service experience and context for running sessions. Thirdly, it compiles terminal reports for end user sessions and forwards them to Aesop for processing. This paper outlines the design and implementation of SECCO and describes three separate cases where SECCO was applied.
