Most Adaptive Hypermedia Systems today focus on providing an adaptive portal or presentation/application through which adaptive retrieved content is delivered. Moreover the content used by such adaptive systems tends to be handcrafted for adaptivity, i.e. from closed corpus repositories. If adaptive hypermedia is to become more mainstream we need the ability to embed adaptive information retrieval and composition techniques within existing Web-based Content Management Systems (WCMS) e.g. Wiki, Drupal. However the effort and expense in fundamentally re-engineering such WCMS or developing completely new adaptive WCMS, is very high. This research explores the architectural and technical issues involved in providing a third party adaptive service which is more easily plugged into existing WCMS. The advantage of this approach is that it doesn't break the current browsing paradigm of freely navigating across different independent web sites on the web. In order to address this challenge we introduce a third party Adaptive Service that enables a unified cross-website personalized experience by discretely interfacing with separate independent WCMS. Thus the Adaptive Service strives to personalize the users experience when accessing each WCMS in a non-invasive manner by not adversely interfering with the web sites overall look and feel, content and functionality without losing the web sites identity and fundamental experience. This paper describes the design and an initial use case supported implementation example of this Adaptive Service. It also provides a survey that assesses the feasibility of the services integration with leading WCMS.
This paper demonstrates that a user of multilingual search has different interests depending on the language used, and that the user model should reflect this. To demonstrate this phenomenon, the paper proposes and ev...

The parallel rise of the Semantic and Social Web provides unprecedented possibilities for the development of novel search system architectures. However, many traditional search systems have so far followed a simple one-size-fits-all paradigm by ignoring the different user information needs, preferences and intentions. In the last number of years, we have begun to see initial evidence that personalisation may be applied within web search engines, however little detail has been published other than adaptation based on user histories. Moreover, current implementations often fail to combine the mutual benefits of both structured and unstructured information resources. This paper presents techniques and architectures for leveraging socio-semantic content and adaptively retrieving and composing such content in order to provide personalised result presentations. The system is presented in a customer care scenario, which provides an application area for personalisation in terms of available heterogeneous resources as well as user preferences, context and characteristics. The presented architectures combine techniques from the fields of Information Retrieval, Semantic Search as well as Adaptive Hypermedia in order to enable efficient adaptive retrieval as well as personalised compositions.

Ontology matching and mapping is of critical importance to effective consumption of distributed and heterogeneous data-sets in today's Web of data. Since 2004 the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) provides a number of complex challenges to evaluate the performance of the increasing number of matching tools and methods. This leads to the question how the individual OAEI challenges and the individual alignment results can be documented best for effective online consumption, management and further analysis. In this paper, we argue that the current documentation of alignment creation lifecycle aspects within OAEI would benefit from more formal model support. In this paper we present a case study to show how our ontology-based meta-data model for ontology mapping reuse (OM2R) can be applied for the OAEI to document alignment challenges and some quantification on the likely benefits in terms of helping challenge administrators and participants create consistent documentation in terms of high correctness and less inconsistent statements as well as results that are explicit, predictable and easy to interpret.
