The Web usage mining techniques are used to scrutinize the web usage patterns for a web site. Web page prediction plays a vital role by predicting next set of web pages that a user may visit based on the knowledge of the previously visited pages. Web page prediction is the focus of attention of many researchers in recent times and different web page prediction frameworks have been proposed. In this paper, a comparative analysis between two different approaches of web page prediction, namely, Latest Substring Association Rule mining (LSA) and Hidden Markov Model (HMM) has been represented. Web page prediction is implemented by using both the approaches and the experimental results are provided. Finally, an improved approach for web page prediction is proposed at the end of the paper.

BACKGROUND:Copy number variants (CNVs) increase risk for neurodevelopmental conditions. The neurobiological mechanisms linking these high-risk genetic variants to clinical phenotypes are largely unknown. An important question is whether brain abnormalities in individuals carrying CNVs are associated with their degree of penetrance. METHODS:We investigated if increased CNV-penetrance for schizophrenia and other developmental disorders was associated with variations in cortical and subcortical morphology. We pooled T1-weighted brain magnetic resonance imaging and genetic data from 22 cohorts from the ENIGMA-CNV consortium. In the main analyses, we included 9,268 individuals (aged 7 to 90 years, 54% females), from which we identified 398 carriers of 36 neurodevelopmental CNVs at 20 distinct loci. A secondary analysis was performed including additional neuroimaging data from the ENIGMA-22q consortium, including 274 carriers of the 22q11.2 deletion and 291 non-carriers. CNV-penetrance was estimated through penetrance scores that were previously generated from large cohorts of patients and controls. These scores represent the probability risk to develop either schizophrenia or other developmental disorders (including developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder and congenital malformations). RESULTS:For both schizophrenia and developmental disorders, increased penetrance scores were associated with lower surface area in the cerebral cortex and lower intracranial volume. For both conditions, associations between CNV-penetrance scores and cortical surface area were strongest in regions of the occipital lobes, specifically in the cuneus and lingual gyrus. CONCLUSIONS:Our findings link global and regional cortical morphometric features with CNV-penetrance, providing new insights into neurobiological mechanisms of genetic risk for schizophrenia and other developmental disorders.

In this talk we will present material on the semantics, computability, and algorithms for the evolution of hybrid dynamical systems, and an overview of the tool Ariadne for verification of hybrid systems [1]. Hybrid systems are characterised by undergoing continuous evolution interspersed by discrete jumps. They exhibit all the complexities of finite automata, nonlinear dynamic systems and differential equations, and are extremely difficult to analyze. We will consider hybrid systems in which the continuous dynamics is given by a differential equation x = f(x), with discrete jumps x' = ri(x) which occur as soon as a guard condition gi(x) ≥ 0 is activated. It is clear that the evolution of a hybrid system undergoes discontinuities, but since only continuous functions are computable, it is not clear to what extent, if any, it is possible to perform a rigorous analysis of a hybrid system. We will first show that we can define lower and upper semantics of evolution under which it is possible to compute reachable sets, and that away from discontinuity points (such as grazing or corner collision points), these semantics agree [2]. In order to perform reachability analysis, it is necessary to define the evolution over bounded initial sets of states. We show that this can be done using the operations of range, compose, flow and solve operations on functions. We will see that constrained image sets of the form {f(x) | x ∈ D | g(x) ∈ C}, are sufficient to express the evolution exactly, except for the case of degenerate (non-transverse) cross- ings [3]. The flow operation is the most computationally demanding, and we will give some details of the implementation and efficiency considerations [4]. We will give examples of reachability analysis in Ariadne, including electrical power converters and heating systems. Link-based similarity measures play a significant role in many graph based applications. Consequently, mea- suring node similarity in a graph is a fundamental problem of graph data mining. Personalized PageRank （PPR） and Sim- Rank （SR） have emerged as the most popular and influen- tial link-based similarity measures. Recently, a novel link- based similarity measure, penetrating rank （P-Rank）, which enriches SR, was proposed. In practice, PPR, SR and P-Rank scores are calculated by iterative methods. As the number of iterations increases so does the overhead of the calcula- tion. The ideal solution is that computing similarity within the minimum number of iterations is sufficient to guaran- tee a desired accuracy. However, the existing upper bounds are too coarse to be useful in general. Therefore, we focus on designing an accurate and tight upper bounds for PPR, SR, and P-Rank in the paper. Our upper bounds are designed based on the following intuition： the smaller the difference between the two consecutive iteration steps is, the smaller the difference between the theoretical and iterative similar- ity scores becomes. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effec- tiveness of our upper bounds in the scenario of top-k similar nodes queries, where our upper bounds helps accelerate the speed of the query. We also run a comprehensive set of exper- iments on real world data sets to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our upper bounds.

Unexpected events such as accidents, natural disasters and terrorist attacks represent an information situation where it is crucial to give users access to important and non-redundant information as early as possible. Previous work uses either a fast but inaccurate pipeline approach or a precise but slow clustering approach. Instead, we propose to use sequential clustering for grouping information so that we are able to publish sentences at each time step. By doing so, we combine the best of both clustering and pipeline approaches and create a fast and precise real-time system. Experiments on the TREC Temporal Summarization 2015 shared task dataset show that our system achieves better results compared to the state-of-the-art. © 1963-2018 ACL.

Most automatic text summarization systems proposed to date rely on centrality and structural features as indicators for information importance. In this paper, we argue that these features cannot reliably detect important information in heterogeneous document collections. Instead, we propose CPSum, a summarizer that learns the importance of information objects from a background source. Our hypothesis is tested on a multi-document corpus where we remove centrality and structural features. CPSum proves to be able to perform well in this challenging scenario whereas reference systems fail. © 2016 Association for Computational Linguistics.

—Recently the primal-dual method of multipliers (PDMM), a novel distributed optimization method, was proposed for solving a general class of decomposable convex optimizations over graphic models. In this work, we first study the convergence properties of PDMM for decomposable quadratic optimizations over tree-structured graphs. We show that with proper parameter selection, PDMM converges to its optimal solution in finite number of iterations. We then apply PDMM for the causal estimation problem over a statistical linear state-space model. We show that PDMM and the Kalman filter have the same update expressions, where PDMM can be interpreted as solving a sequence of quadratic optimizations over a growing chain graph. In the multilingual World Wide Web, it is critical for Web applications, such as multilingual search engines and targeted international advertisements, to know what languages the user understands. However, online users are often unwilling to make the effort to explicitly provide this information. Additionally, language identification techniques struggle when a user does not use all the languages they know to directly interact with the applications. This work proposes a method of inferring the language(s) online users comprehend by analyzing their social profiles. It is mainly based on the intuition that a user’s experiences could imply what languages they know. This is nontrivial, however, as social profiles are usually incomplete, and the languages that are regionally related or similar in vocabulary may share common features;this makes the signals that help to infer language scarce and noisy. This work proposes a language and social relation-based factor graph model to address this problem. To overcome these challenges, it explores external resources to bring in more evidential signals, and exploits the dependency relations between languages as well as social relations between profiles in modeling the problem. Experiments in this work are conducted on a large-scale dataset. The results demonstrate the success of our proposed approach in language inference and show that the proposed framework outperforms several alternative methods. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.

We present the 30-min cadence Kepler/K2 light curve of the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) SN 2018agk, covering approximately one week before explosion, the full rise phase and the decline until 40 days after peak. We additionally present ground-based observations in multiple bands within the same time range, including the 1-day cadence DECam observations within the first ~5 days after the first light. The Kepler early light curve is fully consistent with a single power-law rise, without evidence of any bump feature. We compare SN 2018agk with a sample of other SNe Ia without early excess flux from the literature. We find that SNe Ia without excess flux have slowly-evolving early colors in a narrow range (g - i ≈ -0.20±0.20 mag) within the first ~ 10 days. On the other hand, among SNe Ia detected with excess, SN 2017cbv and SN 2018oh tend to be bluer, while iPTF16abc's evolution is similar to normal SNe Ia without excess in g - i. We further compare the Kepler light curve of SN 2018agk with companion-interaction models, and rule out the existence of a typical non-degenerate companion undergoing Roche-lobe overflow at viewing angles smaller than 45°. © 2021, CC BY.

Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased.
