Hadoop is now the de facto standard for storing and processing big data, not only for unstructured data but also for some structured data. As a result, providing SQL analysis functionality to the big data resided in HDFS becomes more and more important. Hive is a pioneer system that support SQL-like analysis to the data in HDFS. However, the performance of Hive is not satisfactory for many applications. This leads to the quick emergence of dozens of SQL-on-Hadoop systems that try to support interactive SQL query processing to the data stored in HDFS. This paper firstly gives a brief technical review on recent efforts of SQLon- Hadoop systems. Then we test and compare the performance of five representative SQL-on-Hadoop systems, based on some queries selected or derived from the TPC-DS benchmark. According to the results, we show that such systems can benefit more from the applications of many parallel query processing techniques that have been widely studied in the traditional MPP analytical databases. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Native code which is in the form of browser plugins and native binaries in browser extensions brings significant security threats and has attracted considerable attention in recent years. Many researches focus on dangerous behaviors in browser extensions for new security countermeasures but there is no fundamental improvement. Constructing an individual isolation domain and providing sandboxed execution of the code is a key idea to address this problem. However current approach relies heavily on the trust of a module executing within the context of the whole untrusted browser code base accompanied with inevitable vulnerabilities. In this paper, we propose an innovative sandbox utilizing the hardware virtualization support available in modern Intel and AMD processors to construct an individual isolation domain for each benign-but-buggy native code. Our approach push the responsibilities for security down to the hardware level and minimize the difficulties encountered with software based approaches. By utilizing the processor instruction VMENTER or VMEXIT to cause the context switch, we can obtain a better system performance. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In an effort to provide lawful interception for session initiation protocol (SIP) voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), an interception architecture using session border controller (SBC) is proposed. Moreover, a prototype based on the proposed architecture is implemented. A testbed is set up and tests are carried out in order to analyze the performance and the capability of function entities and interfaces in the proposed architecture. Test results show that SBC interception capability in SIP signaling is superior to that in real-time transport protocol (RTP) media stream. In order to eliminate the possible bottleneck of RTP packets interception in SBC, an analytic model is proposed to investigate the mechanism in which RTP packet's traffics are shared among different SBC media functions. Analysis results show that multiple SBC media functions can share the RTP packets arrival and can significantly decrease RTP packets service time in SBC. Test results also show that delivery function, collect function and their interfaces in the proposed interception architecture have corresponding interception performance and capability with SBC. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Recently, a number of advanced data collection and processing methodologies have led to the proliferation of uncertain data. When discovering from such uncertain data, we should handle these uncertainties with caution, because classical mining algorithms may not be appropriate for uncertain tasks. This paper proposes a generic framework of fuzzy associative classifier for probabilistic numerical data, which is prevalent in the real-world applications, such as sensor networks and GPS-based location. In this paper, we first introduce an Aprioribased algorithm for mining fuzzy association rules from a probabilistic numerical dataset based on novel support and confidence measures suitable for such dataset. Then, we give fuzzy rules redundancy pruning strategy and database coverage method to build a compact fuzzy associative classifier in removing redundant rules and thus improving the accuracy of the classifier. We also redefine multiple fuzzy rules classification method for classifying new instances. Extensive experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Web financial reviews are real-time, comprehensive and authentic. The construction and quantification of Web financial indexes based on Web financial reviews is of great significance for the financial early warning for enterprises. Comparing with product reviews and news commentaries, in Web financial reviews, the opinion targets have more diverse compositions, the frequencies of opinion targets' occurrence vary greatly, and the sentiment words' have more diverse parts of speech. These characteristics make the extraction of opinion targets, the construction of Web financial indexes, and opinion targets-based sentimental analysis all more complicated, posing new challenges to natural language processing. This paper presents an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) for Chinese rural information society development (CRISD) policies in terms of its missions and strategies. After briefly describing the institutional and information society development contexts, the paper draws on literature reviews and questionnaires survey to list of SWOT factors for CRISD. These findings could be used to help adjust the next step work to support decision making for rural information society construction and to provide a valuable reference for other investors who are planning to invest in information society programs in China's rural regions. This article presents valuable missions and strategic goals through the SWOT analysis for realizing information society development in Chinese rural areas. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Now most methods of the existing fuzzy rough based attribute reduction can't be applied to large scale data sets because of high time and space consuming. To overcome this problem, we proposed a randomly sampling based method to decrease the computing consumption. First, we propose some pseudo concepts of fuzzy rough sets, such as the pseudo lower approximation and pseudo attribute reduction, which is not exactly, but approximately equal to classical concepts, and then it drastically accelerate computation and significantly reduce space consumption. The numerical experiments show that the random sampling algorithm is significantly efficient both in time and space with little loss of information.

Background: The causes for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) are diverse and the incidence trends of IMIDs from specific causes are rarely studied. The study aims to investigate the pattern and trend of IMIDs from 1990 to 2019. Methods: We collected detailed information on six major causes of IMIDs, including asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis, between 1990 and 2019, derived from the Global Burden of Disease study in 2019. The average annual percent change (AAPC) in number of incidents and age standardized incidence rate (ASR) on IMIDs, by sex, age, region, and causes, were calculated to quantify the temporal trends. Findings: In 2019, rheumatoid arthritis, atopic dermatitis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease accounted 1.59%, 36.17%, 54.71%, 0.09%, 6.84%, 0.60% of overall new IMIDs cases, respectively. The ASR of IMIDs showed substantial regional and global variation with the highest in High SDI region, High-income North America, and United States of America. Throughout human lifespan, the age distribution of incident cases from six IMIDs was quite different. Globally, incident cases of IMIDs increased with an AAPC of 0.68 and the ASR decreased with an AAPC of −0.34 from 1990 to 2019. The incident cases increased across six IMIDs, the ASR of rheumatoid arthritis increased (0.21, 95% CI 0.18, 0.25), while the ASR of asthma (AAPC = −0.41), inflammatory bowel disease (AAPC = −0.72), multiple sclerosis (AAPC = −0.26), psoriasis (AAPC = −0.77), and atopic dermatitis (AAPC = −0.15) decreased. The ASR of overall and six individual IMID increased with SDI at regional and global level. Countries with higher ASR in 1990 experienced a more rapid decrease in ASR. Interpretation: The incidence patterns of IMIDs varied considerably across the world. Location-Based services guide a user to find the object which provides services located in a particular position or region (e.g., looking for a coffee shop near a university). Given a query location and multiple keywords, location-based services return the most relevant objects ranked according to location proximity and text relevancy. Various hybrid indexes have been proposed in recent years which combine R-tree and inverted index to improve query efficiency. Unfortunately, the state-of-the-art approaches require more space in order to reduce response time. Cache mechanism is inefficient due to huge storage overhead. In this paper, a novel index based on index compressed technology (CSTI) is proposed, to answer top-k SKQ. CSTI significantly reduces storage overhead (by at least 80%), while maintaining efficient query performance. Extensive experiments based on real dataset and simulated dataset confirm CSTI is effective and efficient. ©2014 ISCAS.
