In this paper a unified architecture is proposed for the new emerging concept of knowledge networks. This architecture is based on a multi-aspect view to the problem of establishing such a network in organizations. By integrating infrastructure, knowledge and business layers mounted on two aspects of human-based and organizational supportive conditions in a unified framework, we proposed a novel architecture that contains intra-layer built-in assessment mechanisms as well. These assessment mechanisms ensure the gradual refinement of the network as the structure of each layer becomes fixed. In this paper, it has been discussed that how a multi-layer architecture with minimum amount of dependency among layers (that has the ability of interaction in business and knowledge layers) may facilitate knowledge management processes. It can also give some guidelines on how to establish such networks in inter-organization level. In order to demonstrate the applicability of this architecture, in the last section of the paper, we have shown that how the development guidelines of the common KM sub-systems -here a Document Management System- based on one of the most creditable standards of this domain -here ISO 15489- can be extracted in a straightforward manner through employing the proposed architecture of the paper with specific emphasis on the independencies among layers and the proposed self-assessment mechanisms. © 2010 IEEE.

Although search engines are quite useful for obtaining information from the World Wide Web, users still have problems obtaining the most relevant information when processing their web queries. Different methods exist for query expansion with various levels of success. A major point in query expansion techniques is to consider the relations existing between the query terms as a means for retrieving more relevant web pages. Therefore, the more comprehensible these relations are observed, the more relevance can be expected for the retrieved web pages. Taking this point into account, in this paper, a framework is represented for query expansion based on viewpoint- oriented manipulation of the related query terms. Comparison between the relevant retrieved documents, on proposed queries with Google results, illustrate how more relevant results are obtained in the situations where the very viewpoints type relations existing between the query terms are clearly detectable and in the meantime no semantic relation may at the first look exists between the query terms. In this paper, we have made use of two approaches to retrieval issue, out of which one is based on information fusion while the other is grounded on collaboration of the results in a selective way.

The "Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC)" is a popular and efficient controller that normally is designed by the use of Lyapunov's 2nd ("direct") method guaranteeing global asymptotic stability. However, the use of Lyapunov function can entail a relatively complicated tuning that may have disadvantages whenever very fast applications are needed. In this paper an alternative background, the application of "Robust Fixed Point Transformations (RFPT)" working with local basin of attraction of convergence is recommended to simplify this task. As a potential application example the adaptive control of an "Electrostatic Micro-actuator (EμA)" is considered that contains considerable non-linearities. The conclusions of the paper are substantiated by simulation results.

Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is based on a collective method of various techniques for retrieving images through the appropriate features, such as color, texture and shape. Despite of selecting an effective collection of features for each image, it is significant to use appropriate and relevant criterion to measure the similarity between a query image and all the available images in the dataset. In this paper we are introducing a new and effective similarity measurement criterion. In other words, in order to retrieve the images in an impressive way, an artificial immune system (AIS) clustering algorithm, called Tecno_Streams, is proposed for content-based image retrieval. According to experimental results the proposed image retrieval immune-based system is more applicable and effective than the other methods such as histogram based criterion.

In spatial strategies of a spatial prisoner's dilemma (Ishida and Mori '05), it is possible to involve not only geographical configuration of countries but many other relation such as economical relation, historical relation, military relation and so on if they can be expressed by a network. This paper explores the possibility of modeling the agents' commitments using the spatial strategies. Several types of spatiotemporal strategies are discussed in a context of protocol formation in the international communities. ©ISAROB 2009.

Color image histograms are very useful tools for content based image retrieval (CBIR) that can be applied on features such as colour, texture and shape. As these kinds of histograms results with large variations between neighbouring bins, they seem so sensitive to any kind of changes such as noise, illumination. To overcome this problem, in this paper, fuzzy linking histogram approach based on OWA aggregation operator is proposed , which is capable of projecting 3-dimensional (L*a*b*) colour histograms into single-dimension. The proposed method have been evaluated and compared with five other related methods in retrieving similar images from the common dataset which is available on http://***/∼konkonst. The experimental results on 100 images within two categories of Cat and Sky reveals better performance of the proposed method in comparison with the other mentioned methods. ©2009IEEE.

An approach is presented to show how contents can be created through an inter-play between the ontology of their key segments and the ontology of problem context using the knowledge on some nominal values which stand for the way linguistically-significant notions are tackled. The approach seems to be suitable for any kind of organizational task for which these nominal values can be defined in a reasonable way.

We present directional filtering and coherence-enhancing diffusion (CED) as well as two-dimensional quadrature demodulation for analysis of single frame retardation images, acquired with polarisation-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT). We compare different denoising techniques applied to stress-induced PS-OCT images and the influence of selected pre-processing methods on the demodulation results. © 2009 SPIE-OSA.
