Sensor networks deployed in remote locations require easy to use but also extremely expressive tools for reliable operation. The PermaSense project has developed a platform based on a number of proven COTS components and integrated with the GSN based data backend. All tools are accessible from a single location in a web browser. This demo will present the monitoring and control tools in live operation with deployments on real field sites in the Swiss Alps.

Sparse Matrix-Vector Multiplication is an important computational kernel in scientific applications, and CSR storage algorithm often performs poorly on modern computer systems. But the register-level blocking algorithm can optimize memory hierarchy access, reduce memory access time, and then improve the performance. RAM (h) is a computation model that has h-level memory hierarchies. It indicates that different implementation forms of the same algorithm can have different memory access complexity. In this paper, we try to analyze memory access compelxity of two implementation forms of SpMV(which are CSR storage algorithm and register-level blocking algorithm) and to predict the performance of SpMV through combining the memory access complexity analysis and the data movement/floating point operation ratio analysis. The performance data of two forms and Statistical results of miss number of L1, L2 and TLB on Pentium IV platform are listed. Model analytical results matched well with experimental results.

Sparse matrix-vector multiplication is an important computational kernel in scientific applications, and CSR storage algorithm often performs poorly on modern computer systems. Distributed topology control protocols (DTCP) for wireless sensor networks (WSN) coordinate nodespsila decisions regarding their transmission ranges, in order to set up a network with a certain connectivity, while reducing nodespsila energy consumption and/or increasing network capacity. The key issue in DTCP is to choose the most suitable transmission power level (TPL) among those available for each sensor node in a distributed manner. We present a method to predict the TPLs for DTCP in realistic scenarios, which takes into account several propagation phenomena, such as barriers and multipath interference. To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we simulated the radio propagation pattern of a WSN in a scenario of multiple rooms. Our results suggested that our method allows to predict, with reasonable accuracy, the approximate TPLs distribution achieved by different DTCP approaches within a given parameterized scenario.

In this paper, two new nonconforming hexagonal elements are presented, which are based on the trilinear function space Q1^(3) and are edge-oriented, analogical to the case of the rotated Q1 quadrilateral element. A priori error estimates are given to show that the new elements achieve first-order accuracy in the energy norm and second-order accuracy in the L^2 norm. This theoretical result is confirmed by the numerical tests.

In this paper, we present a general survey on parallelcomputing. The main contents include parallel computer system which is the hardware platform of parallelcomputing, parallel algorithm which is the theoretical base of parallelcomputing, parallel programming which is the software support of parallelcomputing. After that, we also introduce some parallel applications and enabling technologies. We argue that parallelcomputing research should form an integrated methodology of "architecture algorithm programming application". Only in this way, parallelcomputing research becomes continuous development and more realistic.
