Hybrid-MELAu: A Hybrid Mixing Engineered Linguistic Features Framework Based on Autoencoder for Social Bot Detection

Social bots are defined as computer algorithms that generate massive amounts of obnoxious or meaningful information. Most bot detection methods leverage multitudinous characteristics, from network features, temporal dynamics features, activities features, and sentiment features. However, there has been fairly lower work exploring lexicon measurement and linguistic indicators to detect bots. The main purpose of this research is to recognize the social bots through their writing style. Thus, we carried out an exploratory study on the effectiveness of only a set of linguistic features (17 features) exploitable for bot detection, without the need to resort to other types of features. And we develop a novel framework in a hybrid fashion of Mixing Engineered Linguistic features based on Autoencoders (Hybrid-MELAu). The semi-supervised Hybrid-MELAu framework is composed of two essential constituents: the features learner and the predictors. We establish the features learner innovated on two powerful structures: a) the first is a Deep dense Autoencoder fed by the Lexical and the Syntactic content (DALS) that represents the high order lexical and syntactic features in latent space, b) the second one is a Glove-BiLSTM autoencoder, which sculpts the semantic features;subsequently, we generate elite elements from the pre-trained encoder part from each latent space with transfer learning. We consider a sample of 1 Million from Cresci datasets to conduct our linguistic analysis comparison between the writing style of humans and bots. With this dataset, we observe that the bot's textual lexical diversity median is greater than the human one and the syntactic analysis based on speech-tagging shows a creative behavior in human writing style. Finally, we test the model's robustness on several public dataset (celebrity, pronbots-2019, and political bots). The proposed framework achieves a good accuracy of 92.22%. Zero-touch network is anticipated to inaugurate the generation of intelligent and highly flexible resource provisioning strategies where multiple service providers collaboratively offer computation and storage resources. This transformation presents substantial challenges to network administration and service providers regarding sustainability and scalability. This article combines distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) with Zero-touch Provisioning (ZTP) for edge networks. This combination helps to manage network devices seamlessly and intelligently by minimizing human intervention. In addition, several advantages are also highlighted that come with incorporating distributed AI into ZTP in the context of edge networks. —In computer vision, image datasets used for classification are naturally associated with multiple labels and comprised of multiple views, because each image may contain several objects (e.g. pedestrian, bicycle and tree) and is properly characterized by multiple visual features (e.g. color, texture and shape). Currently available tools ignore either the label relationship or the view complementary. Motivated by the success of the vector-valued function that constructs matrix-valued kernels to explore the multi-label structure in the output space, we introduce multi-view vector-valued manifold regularization (MV3MR) to integrate multiple features. MV3MR exploits the complementary property of different features and discovers the intrinsic local geometry of the compact support shared by different features under the theme of manifold regularization. We conducted extensive experiments on two challenging, but popular datasets, PASCAL VOC’ 07 (VOC) and MIR Flickr (MIR), and validated the effectiveness of the proposed MV3MR for image classification. Cloud robotics is a field of robotics which enables robots to benefit from the powerful computational, storage, and communication resources provided by the Cloud. This allows for smart and low-cost robots having brain in the Cloud. However, network latency and too much reliance on the Cloud could lead to a brainless robot. The need for a mediator is thus evident to coordinate the communication. In this paper, we propose a multi-process mediator framework for Cloud robotics, named CRC2. The proposed framework makes use of the smartphone resources and offers a service-based approach to establish and manage a collaborative communication channel between robot and the Cloud. The proposed framework is lightweight and is focused to minimize communication latency. In addition, it automates robotic tasks execution and provides smartphone resources integration.

Among several techniques proposed for indoor positioning using IEEE 802.11 Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) based networks, those that rely on fingerprinting have been demonstrated to outperform those based on lateration, angulation, and cell of origin in terms of accuracy. We compare and evaluate three Wi-Fi fingerprinting techniques that use the K-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms. Our experiments show that SVM-based fingerprinting outperformed both k-NN and NBC-based fingerprinting, achieving accuracies of 2 meters or better within our testbed. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper presents a new approach to coordinating clusters of fail-over storage servers. The proposed protocol is designed for supporting large scale on-line storage services which positioned for strong consistency and high availability. Without sacrificing much performance, the protocol requires only one round-trip message communication with redundant servers. A distributed file system with single centralized master extended with this protocol confirms its efficiency as tens of thousands of operations per second and high availability of 99.9995%. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper is about the performance of range queries on historic web page data set, i.e. requests into a data set of web pages that keeps record of historic versions of HTML data of URLs on the web for a subset of data, the URLs and the timestamps of which satisfy the query conditions. To keep track of all versions of every web URL, the data set could easily scale up to terabytes. Hence, systems providing query services to such a data set would require much computing resource. We show that in this scenario data storage layout has significant impact on query performance and propose storage design principles for performance improvement through quantitative approaches. © 2010 IEEE.

The internal link loss characteristic inference has become an increasingly important issue for operating and evaluating a wireless sensor network. Due to the inherent stringent bandwidth and energy constraints, it is usually impractical to directly collect link loss statistical data from each node in sensor network. Here we consider the problem of inferring the internal link loss characteristics from end-to-end measurement. We use the Gilbert error model to model the sensor link losses, formulate the problem of link loss characteristics estimation as a Bayesian inference problem, and propose a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm to solve it. The simulation shows that the link loss performance parameters can be inferred accurately, and the proposed algorithm scales well according to the sensor network size. © 2008 Binary Information Press.
