Techniques for video fingerprinting are helpful in managing vast libraries of video clips. Recent advances have shown that video tomography and Bag-of-Visual-Words (BoVW) can be successfully used for the purpose of video fingerprinting. In this paper, we introduce a novel video signature (i.e., a novel video fingerprint) that takes advantage of both video tomography and BoVW. Specifically, the proposed video signature is created by first extracting inclined tomography images from the video content, and by subsequently applying the BoVW approach to the inclined tomography images obtained. The key to our approach is that we make the angle of inclination of the tomography images dependent on the amount of motion in the video content. That way, the proposed video signature is able to capture both spatial and temporal information. Experimental results obtained for the publicly available TREVID-2009 video set indicate that video copy detection by means of the proposed video signature is robust against spatial and temporal transformations.

As it is known that launch vehicle is facing a very harsh environment during the fight process. The challenge of various perturbations and uncertainties has lead to many traditional control methods' failure to meet the requirements of attitude control system. Due to the main advantage of sliding mode control's robustness to the system uncertainties and disturbances in the so-called sliding mode, it has been widely used in engineering. In this paper, regarding particularly on chattering problem, the authors developed a novel dynamic integral sliding mode control scheme and the comparative simulation results carried out with traditional dynamic integral sliding mode demonstrates the superiority of the newly designed control law.

We propose an image search system for flowers on a mobile phone. Mobile phones have more limited resources than desktop computers in terms of CPU, RAM and data storage. The database that we created has 45 classes. We used 182 training images and 246 test images. We used an HSV histogram as a color feature. The accuracy rate using only color features was 44.86% with radius C=20. We use SURF as a shape feature. The accuracy rate using only shape-based featurewas 47.31% with SURF vectors S=25. We combine both color and shape features to achieved accuracy 61.61%.

The H∞ approach is used for the clearance of flight control laws when some parameters in the flight control system vary in a certain range. The proposed H∞ approach is developed from general H∞ theory and is applied to the clearance of a flight control law for a missile. Based on bounded real lemma, two theorems about clearance are deduced, and the clearance problem is transformed to a general linear matrix inequality problem. A BTT missile is chosen as an example to test the proposed method. The simulation result shows that the proposed method is convenient and efficient.

In this paper we propose an efficient method for population density estimation using textons and k nearest neighbor classifier (k-NN). Leung Malik (LM) filter bank is used for texture extraction (textons) from Google Earth Satellite images and classification into high, medium, low population density and non-populated areas. We have tested the proposed method for 5 different images of cities of Pakistan at high resolution. Comparison of our results with those obtained using Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) are also presented, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Nonlinear spectral mixing models have recently been receiving attention in hyperspectral image processing. This work presents a novel optimization method for nonlinear unmixing based on a generalized bilinear model (GBM), which considers second-order scattering effects. Semi-nonnegative matrix factorization is used for optimization to process a whole image in a matrix form. The proposed method is applied to an airborne hyperspectral image with many endmembers and shows good performance both in unmixing quality and computational cost with simple implementation. The effect of endmember extraction on nonlinear unmixing is investigated and the impact of the nonlinearity on abundance maps is demonstrated.

The reliability model can be optimized with a multi-objective optimization algorithm, while hypervolume-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) have been shown to produce better results for multi-objective problem in practice. When hypervolume is used in some MOEAs as archiving strategy, diversity mechanism or selection criterion to guide the search, it is necessary to determine which subset contributes the least hypervolume contribution. Few algorithms have been designed for this purpose. In this paper a new algorithm based on HSO (hypervolume by slicing objective) is proposed for calculating the exclusive hypervolume contributions of each subset to the whole nondominated set directly for small dimension. The new algorithm is composed of two parts: the algorithm SHSO (set hypervolume contribution by slicing objective) and the algorithm SHSO*. SHSO is used to calculate the exclusive hypervolume contribution of a subset to the whole nondominated set. SHSO* is applied to select the subset which contributes the least hypervolume contribution by repeated application of SHSO. Compared with HSO adopted for calculating the exclusive hypervolume contribution, SHSO* outperforms HSO for all of the test fronts with small dimension.
