Despite numerous recent efforts, 3D object retrieval based on partial shape queries remains a challenging problem, far from being solved. The problem can be defined as: given a partial view of a shape as query, retrieve all partially similar 3D models from a repository. The objective of this track is to evaluate the performance of partial 3D object retrieval methods, for partial shape queries of various scan qualities and degrees of partiality. The retrieval problem is often found in cultural heritage applications, for which partial scans of objects query a dataset of geometrically distinct classes. © 2016 The Eurographics Association.

Modelling & Simulation (M&S) is broadly used in real scenarios where making physical modifications could be highly expensive. With the so-called Simulation Software-as-a-Service (SimSaaS), researchers could take advantage of the huge amount of resource that cloud computing provides. Even so, studying and analysing a problem through simulation may need several simulation tools, hence raising interoperability issues. Having this in mind, IEEE developed a standard for interoperability among simulators named High Level Architecture (HLA). Moreover, the multi-agent system approach has become recognised as a convenient approach for modelling and simulating complex systems. Despite all the recent works and acceptance of these technologies, there is still a great lack of work regarding synergies among them. This paper shows by means of a literature review this lack of work or, in other words, the sparse Cloud SimSaaS. The literature review and the resulting taxonomy are the main contributions of this paper, as they provide a research agenda illustrating future research opportunities and trends.

Ensuring the security of a wide variety of applications such as public security, access control and banking, is becoming an increasingly important problem as modern technology is integrated into the majority of these applications. Thus, establishing identity of a person is the significant method used to ensure a high security level. As a security method, biometric identification has a long tradition and is a synonym for the uniqueness of person. In this paper, based on Finger-Knuckle-Print (FKP), we present a multimodal personal identification system using two feature extraction methods with their fusion applied at the matching score level. In this study, the segmented FKP is firstly represented by the Histogram of Oriented Gradients(HOG) descriptors. Subsequently, the Radial Basis Function(RBF) and Random Forest Transform (RFT) models are used to design two sub-systems. The proposed method is validated for their efficacy on the availab.e PolyU FKP Database of 165 users. Our experimental results show the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed approach, which brings both high identification and accuracy rate.

The approach that we propose in this paper is part of the optimization of the collab.rative learning in the e-learning environment. It is particularly interested in the automatic creation of groups called homogeneous teams, based on a set of criteria to highlight the similarity between the learners. This similarity is calculated using a similarity index that is the Euclidean distance. Then an optimal path guiding each community is built, through a dynamic adaptation of the optimization technique by ant colony. In this article, we have implemented the methodological framework and the algorithmic modeling of our approach, given that our future work will focus on the implementation and the empirical validation of our design.

The single biometric system may be inadequate for passive authentication either because of noise in data samples or because of unavailab.lity of a sample at a given time. In order to overcome the limitation of the single biometric, a multiple biometric modalities are used. In this paper, palmprint and iris are integrated in order to construct an efficient multibiometric recognition system based on matching score level fusion and by using the technique of sum of score. This system tries to improve the recognition results of single biometric systems. The features of Iris and palmprint are extracted using Log Gabor filter. The Hamming Distance is used for matching of Iris or palmprint feature vector. We have evaluated the proposed scheme and we have compared it with the results of the single biometric using the same data. The experimental results showed that the designed system achieves an excellent recognition rate and provides more security than single biometric system.

Biometric technologies are becoming the foundation of an extensive array of highly secure identification and personal verification solutions. Nowadays, palmprint identification is a novel and one of the most reliable biometrically based technology in applications of personal identification due to its highly stability and uniqueness. In this paper, biometric security system for access control based on multi-spectral palmprint is presented. To represent texture information, rotation invariant variance measures is used. Finally, a hamming distance score is employed to measure the similarity between templates of palmprints during the atching phase. The results show that a rotation invariant variance measure is robust to some extent in rotation of the images. The accuracy and speed of the proposed method can meet the requirements of an online biometric identification.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance of a new multiobjective algorithm called Vector Evaluated Population Based Incremental Learning (VEPBIL). The new algorithm was applied in solving a real world application named Reinsurance Contract Optimization (RCO), which is a multiobjective problem consisting of maximizing two conflicting functions: expected return and risk. The VEPBIL was tested on two instances of the problem composed by 7 and 15 layers of real anonymized data. In order to evaluate the algorithm, metrics such as hyper volume, number of solutions and coverage were used. A comparisons against Vector Evaluated Differential evolution (VEDE) is also carried out. The comparison has shown that VEPBIL can dominate about 70% and 50% of solutions from VEDE using 7 and 15 layers respectively, whereas VEDE dominates about 10% and 30% of solutions in the way around. © 2015 IEEE.

Quantification of myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) fraction based on pre- and post-gadolinium MOLLI T1 maps is a research tool that has the potential to become an important prognostic tool for assessing specific cardiomyopathies. In this study, we utilized advanced MR simulations of the MOLLI pulse sequence for a wide range of physiological T2 values for pre-gadolinium blood and myocardium in order to investigate the dependency of MOLLI-based ECV measurements on T2. Simulations show that MOLLI underestimates ECV measurements in shorter pre-gadolinium myocardial T2 and longer pre-gadolinium blood T2 values with the ECV underestimation error being higher with pre-gadolinium myocardial T2 values than with pre-gadolinium blood T2 values.

In this paper, we describe practical results of an algorithmic trading prototype and performance optimization related experiments for end-user code generation from customized UML models. Our prototype includes high-performance computing solutions for algorithmic trading systems. The performance prediction feature can help the traders to understand how powerful the machine they need when they have a very diverse portfolio or help hem to define the max size of their portfolio for a given machine. The traders can use our Watch Monitor for supervising the PNL (Profit and Loss) of the portfolio and other information so far. A portfolio management module could be added later for aggregating all strategies information together in order to maintain the risk level of the portfolio automatically. The prototype can be modified by end-users on the UML model level and then used with automatic Java code generation and execution within the Eclipse IDE. An advanced coding environment was developed for providing a visual and declarative approach to trading algorithms development. We learned exact and quantitative conditions under which the system can adapt to varying data and hardware parameters.
