This paper presents a new affine registration approach for planar point pattern matching. A process of parameter space clustering is implemented to confirm a one-to-one mapping between the maximal subsets of feature point sets in images. For a best performance, a coarse parameter space and a fine parameter space are used for vectors comparison. Experiments show that the method can produce positive results from a small number of feature points and intensive noise. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

An electroencephalogram(EEG)-based brain–computer interface(BCI) speller allows a user to input text to a computer by thought. It is particularly useful to severely disabled individuals, e.g. amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients, who have no other effective means of communication with another person or a *** studies so far focused on making EEG-based BCI spellers faster and more reliable; however, few have considered their security. This study, for the first time, shows that P300 and steady-state visual evoked potential BCI spellers are very vulnerable, i.e. they can be severely attacked by adversarial perturbations,which are too tiny to be noticed when added to EEG signals, but can mislead the spellers to spell anything the attacker wants. The consequence could range from merely user frustration to severe misdiagnosis in clinical applications. We hope our research can attract more attention to the security of EEG-based BCI spellers, and more broadly, EEG-based BCIs, which has received little attention before.

We have developed a generic ontology of objects, and a knowledge base of everyday physical objects. Objects are represented as assemblies of functional features and their spatial relations. Generic shape information of objects and features is stored using a partial boundary representation. Form-function reasoning is applied to deduce geometric shape elements from a feature's functions. We have also developed a generic geometric shape based object recognition method which uses many local features. The proposed recognition method considers the concept of ontology for representation of generic functions of objects. And the use of a general shape-function reasoning with context understanding enhances the performance of object recognition. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

In this paper we have considered systems in which agents communicate via their environment. In these systems the agents do not have direct and explicit communication with each other and instead they have implicit communication which is performed via the environment they are located in. Different kinds of environment elements are considered to be changed while on the other hand for all of these situations there is a change in the environment and this change means potential stimuli that fires behaviors of agents for future. It is considered that if we can find a track of changes in the environment and find the roots of a movement in an agent that is originally made by another agent of the group. © 2006 IEEE.

Liquid State Machine (LSM) is a newly developed computational model with many interesting properties. It has great advantages of dealing with biologic computing when compared to the traditional computational model. In this paper, the LSM was used to deal with the direction classification problem of the spike series which were distilled from the neurons in motor cortex of a monkey. In the output layer, a linear regression and back-propagation are employed as the training algorithms. Compare to outcomes of the two algorithms, it is showed that ideal classification results were derived when using BP as the training algorithm.

With the further integration of information technology and industry, the computer numerical control (CNC) production line has gradually changed from the original isolated and closed mode to an open one. It faces not only internal threats, but also threats from the Internet. Starting from the characteristics and cybersecurity problem analysis of open CNC production lines, this paper proposes a security and trust protection framework based on trusted computing 3.0 and the concept of defense in depth, where a tri-element peer architecture is introduced to realize two-way authentication between the access device and the platform and an active immunity scheme for open CNC system is designed to ensure the trust from the source, and the trusted NC-Link agent/adaper are utilized to connect the heterogeneous equipments trustedly in the production line. The proposed framework can improve the information security level of the open CNC production line while maintaining its openness.

A noise erosion operator based on partial differential equation (PDE) is introduced, which has an excellent ability of noise removal and edge preservation for two-dimensional (2D) gradient data. The operator is applied to estimate a new diffusion coefficient. Experimental results demonstrate that anisotropic diffusion based on this new erosion operator can efficiently reduce noise and sharpen object boundaries.

Today, the world economy is in the stage of rapid development, followed by the rising quantity, the decreasing moisture content, and the increasing heat value of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Since waste incineration has the advantages of excellent volume reduction effect, high resource utilization efficiency, and less secondary pollution to the environment, waste incineration disposal technology has received extensive attention worldwide. With the continuous increase of the urban population, the amount of sewage sludge is growing year by year. The process of the sludge incineration system is highly complicated, and the cost of construction and operation is high. The waste incinerator can process not only MSW but also sewage sludge. Therefore, the co-incineration of sewage sludge with MSW in the existing waste incinerator is a safe and effective way to dispose of sewage sludge. In this paper, the simulation results of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are analyzed for medium-scale and large-scale waste incinerators, characterized by high moisture content, high ash content, low heat value of sewage sludge, and incomplete combustion and high pollutant emissions in waste incinerators. With FLIC-Fluent coupled simulation method, the critical information such as temperature field, velocity field, concentration field of principal components, and the pollutant emissions can be predicted. Based on the CFD simulation results, the performance and structure of waste incinerators can be optimized, and the new products can be designed and developed. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Two-dimensional multi-fiber spectrum image correction based on machine learning techniques

Due to limited size and imperfect of the optical components in a spectrometer, aberration has inevitably been brought into two-dimensional multi-fiber spectrum image in LAMOST, which leads to obvious spacial variation of the point spread functions (PSFs). Consequently, if spatial variant PSFs are estimated directly, the huge storage and intensive computation requirements result in deconvolutional spectral extraction method become intractable. In this paper, we proposed a novel method to solve the problem of spatial variation PSF through image aberration correction. When CCD image aberration is corrected, PSF, the convolution kernel, can be approximated by one spatial invariant PSF only. Specifically, machine learning techniques are adopted to calibrate distorted spectral image, including Total Least Squares (TLS) algorithm, intelligent sampling method, multi-layer feed-forward neural networks. The calibration experiments on the LAMOST CCD images show that the calibration effect of proposed method is effectible. At the same time, the spectrum extraction results before and after calibration are compared, results show the characteristics of the extracted one-dimensional waveform are more close to an ideal optics system, and the PSF of the corrected object spectrum image estimated by the blind deconvolution method is nearly central symmetry, which indicates that our proposed method can significantly reduce the complexity of spectrum extraction and improve extraction accuracy. Lightweight Human Pose Estimation Using Heatmap-Weighting Loss

Recent research on human pose estimation exploits complex structures to improve performance on benchmark datasets, ignoring the resource overhead and inference speed when the model is actually deployed. In this paper, we lighten the computation cost and parameters of the deconvolution head network in SimpleBaseline and introduce an attention mechanism that utilizes original, inter-level, and intra-level information to intensify the accuracy. Additionally, we propose a novel loss function called heatmap weighting loss, which generates weights for each pixel on the heatmap that makes the model more focused on keypoints. Experiments demonstrate our method achieves a balance between performance, resource volume, and inference speed. Specifically, our method can achieve 65.3 AP score on COCO test-dev, while the inference speed is 55 FPS and 18 FPS on the mobile GPU and CPU, respectively. Copyright © 2022, The Authors.
