Specifying safety and liveness of semi-algebraic transition systems

We present an approach to specification of properties of semi-algebraic transition systems which are introduced as mathematical structures for modeling complex physical systems. We extend dynamic logic to the semi-algebraic dynamic logic (SDL) which enlarges abstract modalities to polynomial expressions with inequalities and boolean connectives. In SDL, semi-algebraic transition systems are modeled as semi-algebraic programs. The semantics of SDL is constructed by interpreting the transition relation of semi-algebraic programs and the satisfaction of formulas with semi-algebraic sets. Hence, safety and liveness properties of semi-algebraic transition systems are well formulised as SDL formulas. Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technique for visible light communications (VLC) facilitates higher data rate thanks to parallel data transmission. However, full channel-state information (CSI) is a requirement in a MIMO system at all times for successful data recovery, which is a major challenging factor in mobility and shadowing scenarios. In this paper we introduce a novel approach for a self-correcting MIMO system's CSI that enables robustness against channel blocking and overcomes the reduced rank of the CSI matrix thanks to the self-estimation of the MIMO receiver position. This approach is designed to provide seamless MIMO VLC operation. The paper presents the theoretical modelling and numerical evaluation. We show that the system can achieve data recovery for all channels even though one channel (or more) loses the pilot signal, which are used for determining the CSI.

We consider the clock synchronization problem in wireless mobile ad hoc networks in the presence of Byzantine nodes. The communication topology is dynamic: nodes move randomly within a geographical area. We propose a clock synchronization protocol which is based on the linear approximate consensus method. Periodically each correct node broadcasts its current timestamp and gathers the timestamps provided by its current neighbors. To cope with the malicious nodes (and to improve the performance when the node density is low), each node keeps the collected timestamps in a local log. As a log may contain values received more or less recently, a transformation technique is introduced to refresh the outdated values. The accuracy of the synchronisation depends on the connectivity among the moving nodes. We use a matrix and vector based representation to model the behavior of the synchronization process and to analyze its accuracy. We show that the deviation between the different clock values can converge towards zero when a particular condition is satisfied infinitely often. The frequency at which the condition is satisfied also impacts the synchronization accuracy. Based on a particular mobility scenario, performance simulations are conducted.

In mobile data collector (MDC)-based wireless sensor networks, we need to design paths for MDCs for better data collection. In this paper, we use predictable mobility pattern and apply a heuristic algorithm to design paths of MDCs. The algorithm aims to make the time cost by MDCs covering the whole network as short as possible. The algorithm is taken by two steps. Firstly, choose the stop points, and then, construct the paths. Both steps are computed using genetic algorithm (GA). In choosing stop points algorithm, improved stochastic tournament selection is adopted to deal with restraints and special fitness is used to enhance differentiation of solutions. An asexual reproduction based GA with 2-opt optimization mechanism is used to construct MDCs' paths. As experiments show, the algorithm proposed in this paper performs better than greedy algorithm. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

According to the broadcast encryption scheme with wide applications in the real world, a fully secure predicate-based broadcast encryption was proposed by combining with Waters dual system encryption, predicate encryption and the orthogonality property of composite-order bilinear groups. Based on the standard model, the scheme can achieve constant-size key and ciphertext, and guarantee the security of the plaintext M as well as the security of the attribute vectors. The scheme is proved by using the three static assumptions. Furthermore, the analysis results indicated that the scheme of this paper is fully secure and can satisfy the higher efficiency and practice requirement. Copyright © 2014 Binary information Press.

A collision detection algorithm based on capsule bounding volume (CBV for short) is presented improve the efficiency of Collision detection in three-dimensional scene. This algorithm use CBV to encircle roles and achieve collision detection between the virtual characters and static objects and dynamic objects in the scene. It includes collision detection between CBV and AABB, triangular and capsule. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that this algorithm can improve real time for collision detection. © 2014 Binary information Press.

In this paper, we investigate the random access for an energy harvesting secondary user (SU) in a cognitive radio system, in which the SU harvests energy from radio frequency (RF) radiation of the primary user (PU). With multipacket reception channel model, the SU can increase its throughput through not only utilizing the idle periods of the PU, but also opportunistically sharing the PU spectrum with some probability when the PU is active. By choosing the appropriate random access probability, we maximize the throughput of the SU under the constraint of the primary queue stability. We also define the energy-limited region and spectrum-limited region to specify the tradeoff between the SU performance and the PU activity. Furthermore, we investigate the effect of the primary queueing delay constraint on the throughput performance of the SU.

Since the method of isotropic filtering will result in blurring sharp features, a new approach of anisotropic filtering algorithm is proposed, direction and scale of such filter vary according to changes of sharp features' direction and scale. According to the local neighborhood of the point to be processed, the direction and scale of the filter were adaptively computed by covariance analysis. And because the results of covariance analysis are determined by the selection of neighborhood points, order to adaptively select neighborhood points, a method about the selection of optimal neighborhood radius was also proposed which is based on projection direction. This method adopts projection direction to restrict the selection of neighboring points, thus adaptively get best neighborhood radius related with surface features. Experimental results show that: the algorithm combined with bilateral filtering not only can make point cloud smooth while retaining sharp features but also can adaptively select parameters. According to the former research achievements about load balancing strategy, considering the load distribution, the load condition of service node and the number of user connections, we propose a load balancing strategy based on middleware. According to the cluster service load and the number of user connections, the requests from user will be reasonably allocated to each service node by using middleware technology, then service node and requested user establish a temporary connection, after all the requests of this user are processed by this node. Experiments show that, this strategy reduces the number of requests for allocation, improves the resource utilization rate of cluster system and load balancing degree, and effectively suppresses the load jitter of system. © 2014 ISSN 1881-803X.

In order to solve the overload problem of root ONS in the EPC network, a load balancing algorithm based on multi-root ONS is proposed. Based on the proposed load balancing ONS (LB ONS) architecture, the ONS Root is defined to have two states, idle or busy. According to CPU utilization and memory utilization of the ONS Root and in combination with threshold controlling to periodically update the ONS Root states, which makes the requests coming from client applications be transferred to an ONS Root which is idle. Experiment results show that the algorithm can reduce query hops and query delays effectively and offer lookup service efficiently. © 2014 Binary information Press.
