This work is an additional exploration inspired by the results of an earlier study of the geo-localization problem over a densely forested region of the Brazilian Amazon forest. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data was post-processed from 3D cloud point format to 2D elevation images and template matching was used with normalized cross-correlation. Within a constrained search area it was possible to geo-localize the 2D patches of surface images on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) elevation data. The transect 3D cloud point was transformed into a 12.5m resolution 2D surface image with the circular binning procedure, a resolution compatible with the Advanced Land Observation Satellite (ALOS) elevation maps used as reference. This application of template matching achieved 36m root mean square error, or about 4 pixels of error, over the LiDAR transect route. Position estimation is essential for autonomous navigation of aerial vehicles, and experiments with LiDAR data show potential for localization over densely forested regions, where Computer Vision methods using optical camera data may fail to acquire distinguishable features. © 2022 IEEE.

Over the past decade, a noticeable increase in literature can be seen in wearable foot interfaces, which have evolved from activity tracking to enhancing human capabilities. Our legs, being the largest body limbs, play an essential role in various functions such as locomotion, maintaining balance, supporting proper posture and providing ground-contact using our feet. Hence, foot augmentations offer the opportunity to augment our entire body. However, most prior research focuses on specific application areas, thus affording a research agenda to further understand the full potential of feet in designing augmentations and to contextualize it in the broader human augmentation space. To achieve this, in this workshop, we invite researchers, designers, and practitioners, novice and expert, interested in designing human and foot augmentations. We will discuss how early foot interfaces helped in augmenting humans, and based on current work and trends in foot augmentation, we will formulate strategies for the next steps and discuss the applicability of such strategies in the broader space of human augmentation. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Context: Managing knowledge is one of the main challenges for software development organizations. Thus, the principles of Knowledge Management (KM) are presented as determinant and effective factors for the software product quality. There are several approaches to applying KM in an organization. However, for a KM approaches to succeed, it is important to conduct a KM diagnostic in order to analyze the KM current state that already exists in the organization. Objective: The objective of this paper is to present the results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) conducted to summarize existing research on KM diagnostic in software development organizations. Method: SLR was performed by searching four electronic databases. We also performed backward snowballing from reference lists of selected studies. Results: From the SLR, we identified 24 studies addressing investigated differents approaches related to KM diagnostics in software development organizations. Conclusion: Based on our results we conclude that in the software engineering context the KM diagnosis practice still does not seem consolidated. © 2018 Association for computing Machinery.

The increase of connectivity and the impact it has in every day life is raising new and existing security problems that are becoming important for social good. We introduce two particular problems: cyber attack attribution and regulatory data sharing. For both problems, decisions about which rules to apply, should be taken under incomplete and context dependent information. The solution we propose is based on argumentation reasoning, that is a well suited technique for implementing decision making mechanisms under conflicting and incomplete information. Our proposal permits us to identify the attacker of a cyber attack and decide the regulation rule that should be used while using and sharing data. In the last few years, the landscape of parallel computing has been subject to profound and highly dynamic changes. The paradigm shift towards multicore and manycore technologies coupled with accelerators in a heterogeneous environment is offering a great potential of computing power for scientific and industrial applications. However, for one to take full advantage of these new technologies, holistic approaches coupling the expertise ranging from hardware architecture and software design to numerical algorithms are a pressing necessity. Parallel computing is no longer limited to supercomputers and is now much more diversified - with a multitude of technologies, architectures, and programming approaches leading to increased complexity for developers and engineers. In this work, we give - from the perspective of numerical simulation and applications - an overview of existing and emerging multicore and manycore technologies as well as accelerator concepts. We emphasize the challenges associated with high-performance heterogeneous computing and discuss the interfaces needed to fill the gap between the hardware architecture and the implementation of efficient numerical algorithms. By means of this short survey - which stresses the necessity of hardware-aware computing - we aim at giving assistance to users in scientific computing entering this fascinating field and help understanding associated issues and capabilities. This paper proposes a cloud infrastructure for Space Systems e-Engineering by exposing services tailored to the concept design phase of satellite manufacturing. The spontaneous formation of clusters of synchronized spiking in a structureless ensemble of equal stochastically perturbed excitable neurons with delayed coupling is demonstrated for the first time. The effect is a consequence of a subtle interplay between interaction delays, noise, and the excitable character of a single neuron. The dependence of the cluster properties on the time lag, noise intensity, and the synaptic strength is investigated.
