Scale Invariance Feature Transform (SIFT) is quite suitable for image matching because of its invariance to image scaling, rotation and slight changes in illumination or viewpoint. However, due to high computation complexity it's technically challenging to deploy SIFT in real time application situations. To address this problem, we propose CLSIFT, an OpenCL based highly speeded up and performance portable SIFT solution. Important optimization techniques employed in CLSIFT such as: (1) For less global memory traffic, independent logical functions are merged into the same kernel to reuse data.(2) loop buffers are introduced in for data and intermediate results reusing.(3)Task queue used to schedule threads in the same branch to remove branch divergences. (4) Data partition is based on the statics patterns for workload balance among workgroups. (5) Overlap of CPU time and better parallel strategies are used too. With all mentioned efforts, CLSIFT processes lena. jpg at 74.2 FPS and 43.4FPS respectively on NVidia and AMD GPUS, much higher than CPU's nearly 10 FPS and the known fastest SIFTGPU's 39.8 FPS and 13FPS. Moreover in a quantitative comparison approach we analyze those successful strategies beating SIFTGPU, a famous existing GPU implementation. Additionally, we observe and conclude that NVidia GPU achieves better occupancy and performance due to some factors. Finally, we summarize some techniques and empirical guiding principles that may be shared by other applications on GPU. © 2013 IEEE.

Patch-based vulnerability analysis is a hot topic for security researchers and attackers, some important semantic can be used to discover new bugs or errors via information revealed from patch differences. However, automatic description for patched differences is always viewed as such a difficult task that similar work is usually achieve in manual method. In this paper, we present an automatic patch-based description for a type of privilege elevation vulnerability, and perform fuzzing test to excavate unknown bugs in further step. Focusing on feature in this type of vulnerability, we recognize vulnerability-related positions from patched differences, and divide them into multi-level attributes via normalized definitions. Furthermore, we present analysis procedure as relationship measurement among several attributes: binary difference, data structure of object, operation semantic and constraint formula. The root cause and exploitation method for vulnerability can be described on the leverage of gradual attribute deductions. At last, a CF-oriented fuzzing method is introduced based on verification of semantic and constraint formula. The effectiveness and performance of our prototype have been tested in evaluation, it proves that patch-related bugs all can be described in PVD (Patch-based Vulnerability Description) automatically, and some new bugs can be discovered in PVF (Patch-based Vulnerability Fuzzing). In addition, average time consumption of global running is less than systems or projects of related work.

On deploying relays for connected indoor sensor networks

This paper considers the crucial problem of deploying wireless relays for achieving a connected wireless sensor network in indoor environments, an important aspect related to the management of the sensor network. Several algorithms have been proposed for ensuring full sensing coverage and network connectivity. These algorithms are not applicable to indoor environments because of the complexity of indoor environments, in which a radio signal can be dramatically degraded by obstacles such as walls. We first prove theoretically that the indoor relay placement problem is NP-hard. We then predict the radio coverage of a given relay deployment in indoor environments. We consider two practical scenarios;wire-connected relays and radio-connected relays. For the network with wire-connected relays, we propose an efficient greedy algorithm to compute the deployment locations of relays for achieving the required coverage percentage. This algorithm is proved to provide a Hn factor approximation to the theoretical optimum, where Hn = 1 +1/2+⋯+1/n= ln(n) +1, and n is the number of all grid points. In the network with radio-connected relays, relays have to be connected in an ad hoc mode. We then propose an algorithm based on the previous algorithm for ensuring the connectivity of relays. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms achieve better performance than baseline algorithms. © 2014 KICS.

The distinguished features of mobile computing bring both opportunities and challenges to the development of Mobile Social Networking (MSN) applications. Learning the successful experiences from existing MSN applications is valuable to both industry and academy. The paper aims at identifying the success factors of Instagram, a well-known MSN application. By performing a historical case study, rapid development and reaction, continuous focus on system scalab.lity on demand, and creating a good external environment are regarded as the three important success factors. To achieve those success factors, 1) using existing mature Open Source software (OSS) extensively and consulting resident experts at websites when necessary are the secrets to develop and react to new requirements rapidly;2) monitoring the status of the system by tools and focusing on scalab.lity in both architecture design and detail optimization are vital to guarantee the system scalab.e on demand;and 3) creating appropriate social networks for different type of stakeholders using right popular social media tools is important to create a good external environment effectively. Based on these insights, the development methodology of Instagram has been extracted, that can be used to guide the MSN application development. At the end, the validation, reliability and generalizability of the information gathered from the case study are discussed thoroughly. Copyright 2014 ACM.

Self-tuning performance of the database management system is a challenging and time-consuming work since multiple performance parameters need to be automatically *** this paper,we present a new self-tuning method based on fuzzy *** first automatically extract Automatic Workload Repository(AWR)report from a database system,and then construct fuzzy rules by identifying the relationship among the performance parameters and performance ***,we develop an adaption algorithm to reconfigure the performance parameters with the fuzzy *** on TPC-C workload show that the proposed method is feasible and effective.

Model-based testing(MBT) is software testing in which test cases are generated in whole or in part from a model that describes specifications of the system under test(SUT). However,specifications evolution can't be avoided in MBT. To handle specifications evolution efficiently,this paper presents two algorithms. The first algorithm captures the evolution of specifications,automatically modifies the original Petri net model correspondingly and marks the changed part in the new Petri net model. Based on the new Petri net model,the second algorithm recognizes the test cases which can be reused,and achieves regenerated test cases to cover the marked part. The reused and the regenerated test cases compose the new test case suits.

In this paper, we propose an improved graph model for Chinese spell checking. The model is based on a graph model for generic errors and two independentlytrained models for specific errors. First, a graph model represents a Chinese sentence and a modified single source shortest path algorithm is performed on the graph to detect and correct generic spelling errors. Then, we utilize conditional random fields to solve two specific kinds of common errors: the confusion of "?" (at) (pinyin is 'zai' in Chinese), "?" (again, more, then) (pinyin: zai) and "?" (of) (pinyin: de), "?" (-ly, adverb-forming particle) (pinyin: de), "?" (so that, have to) (pinyin: de). Finally, a rule based system is exploited to solve the pronoun usage confusions: "?" (she) (pinyin: ta), "?" (he) (pinyin: ta) and some others fixed collocation errors. The proposed model is evaluated on the standard data set released by the SIGHAN Bake-off 2014 shared task, and gives competitive result. © 2014 CLP 2014 - 3rd CIPS-SIGHAN Joint Conference on Chinese Language Processing. The precise prediction of bus routes or the arrival time of buses for a traveler can enhance the quality of bus service. However, many social factors influence people's preferences for taking buses. These social factors may include heavy traffic cost, traffic congestion, poor air quality and so forth. Existing prediction techniques rarely consider social sensing when predicting the bus arrival time. Accordingly, this paper proposes a social sensing enhanced service for predicting bus routes, which integrates sensing ability and social networks to understand and measure the influence between social events and vehicle velocity. We focus on the analysis of two different attributions: PT service quality attributions PEA s and road condition attributions PRCA s. Both of them synthesize the social sensing in their evaluation of bus routes. PEA represents individual preferences and PRCA represents physical factors that significantly influence vehicle velocity. Bus relevant social events were further categorized into PEA events or PRCA events. PEA s of buses were scored according to the tendency of bus conditions reflected in social events. Furthermore, an artificial neural network prediction model is established to estimate the bus travel time. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Vector Taylor Series (VTS) model based compensation approach has been successfully applied to various robust speech recognition tasks. In this paper, a novel method to derive the formula to calculate the static and dynamic statistics based on second-order VTS (sVTS) is presented, which provides a new insight on the VTS approximation. Lengthy derivation could therefore be avoided when high order VTS is used and the proposed approach is more compact and easier to implement compared to previous high order VTS approaches. Experiments on Aurora 4 showed that the proposed sVTS based model compensation approach obtained 16.7% relative WER reduction over traditional first-order VTS (fVTS) approach.

Despite numerous efforts on blur measurement of partially blurred images, there still lacks an effective blur measure that is both pixel-wise and locally sharp consistent. The paper proposes a novel method with two contributions to overcome this limitation: 1) A new pixel-based blur metric, Multi-resolution Singular Value (MSV), which leverages the average singular value of high frequency bands to measure the blur of each pixel, and 2) a locally continuous strategy, maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) based refinement, that ensures local continuity by imposing the local sharp consistency on pixel blur in a local correcting process. Experimental results show that our method is effective to smoothly measure the partially blurred images without local discontinuity.
