Today, the world economy is in the stage of rapid development, followed by the rising quantity, the decreasing moisture content, and the increasing heat value of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Since waste incineration has the advantages of excellent volume reduction effect, high resource utilization efficiency, and less secondary pollution to the environment, waste incineration disposal technology has received extensive attention worldwide. With the continuous increase of the urban population, the amount of sewage sludge is growing year by year. The process of the sludge incineration system is highly complicated, and the cost of construction and operation is high. The waste incinerator can process not only MSW but also sewage sludge. Therefore, the co-incineration of sewage sludge with MSW in the existing waste incinerator is a safe and effective way to dispose of sewage sludge. In this paper, the simulation results of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are analyzed for medium-scale and large-scale waste incinerators, characterized by high moisture content, high ash content, low heat value of sewage sludge, and incomplete combustion and high pollutant emissions in waste incinerators. With FLIC-Fluent coupled simulation method, the critical information such as temperature field, velocity field, concentration field of principal components, and the pollutant emissions can be predicted. Based on the CFD simulation results, the performance and structure of waste incinerators can be optimized, and the new products can be designed and developed. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. In the task of small object detection, due to the relatively small size of the objects, complex situations such as occlusion and overlap may arise in high-density scenes. These factors can significantly increase the issues of missed detections and false detections in object detection tasks. To address the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes a lightweight small object detection model, YOLOv5s-MGC. Firstly, we introduce an improved Mobilenetv3 network to replace the backbone network of YOLOv5s, aiming to improve the network's capability for effective feature extraction. Secondly, we incorporate the GSConv module into the feature fusion network to reduce model parameters and strengthen the network's ability in fusing feature information. Finally, we have integrated Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) at the forefront of the detection heads, achieving the fusion of fine-grained features. We assessed our approach on the openly accessible dataset 'SHWD' and contrasted the results with the baseline YOLOv5s and various SOTA object detection models. Precisely, our method attains an accuracy of 91.1%, exceeding the baseline module by 1.6%. Furthermore, the module size is reduced to 1.97MB and it achieves a 52.4 FPS. In comparison to other prevailing algorithms, YOLOv5s-MGC enables efficient and accurate small object detection. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper studies the task assignment problem of a multi-robot system with complex constraints including the robot speed limit, the task execution time window constraints, the arrival time, the trip cost, and different priorities of the tasks. A new bidding function is then designed for each robot. Based on the k-means algorithm, a hierarchy-based extended consensus-based bundle algorithm (CBBA) is proposed to find the optimal solution for the task allocation problem. Finally, simulation examples are presented to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm and comparisons with existing algorithms show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the task assignment time with guaranteed reward values. © 2022 IEEE.

Urban rail transit (URT) is vulnerable to natural disasters and social emergencies including fire, storm and epidemic (such as COVID-19), and real-time origin-destination (OD) flow prediction provides URT operators with important information to ensure the safety of URT system. However, hindered by the high dimensionality of OD flow and the lack of supportive information reflecting the real-time passenger flow changes, study in this area is at the beginning stage. A novel model consisting of two stages is proposed for OD flow prediction. The first stage predicts the inflows of all stations by Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) in real time, where the dimension is reduced compared with predicting OD flows directly. In the second stage, the notion of separation rate, namely, the proportion of inbound passengers bounding for another station, is estimated. Finally, The OD flow is predicted by multiplying the inflow and separation rate. Experiments based on Hangzhou Metro dataset show the proposed model outperforms the contrast model in weighted mean average error (WMAE) and weighted mean square error (WMSE). Results also suggest that the proposed prediction model performs better on weekdays than on weekends, and with greater accuracy on larger OD flows. © 2000-2011 IEEE.

We investigated the ferromagnetism of Fe- and Ni-doped SnO2 (110) surfaces and the regulation of the doped surface ferromagnetism by the oxygen vacancy and adsorbed O2 molecule. The introduction of Fe/Ni can make the nonmagnetic SnO2 (110) surface have a large magnetic moment and exhibit stable ferromagnetic coupling. The presence of oxygen vacancy weakens the surface magnetic moment and attenuates the surface ferromagnetic coupling. The adsorbed O2 molecule that fills the oxygen vacancy on the doped surface increases the magnetic moment of the defective Fe/Ni-doped SnO2 (110) surface, and has a significant effect on the magnetic coupling of the surface. © 2022, The Authors. Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function lab.ls are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific lab.ls, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function lab.ls at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function. © 2023 IEEE.

Interactive medical image segmentation methods have become increasingly popular in recent years. These methods combine manual lab.ling and automatic segmentation, reducing the workload of annotation while maintaining high accuracy. However, most current interactive segmentation frameworks are limited to 2D image data, and are not suitable for 3D image data due to the large size and high complexity of 3D data, as well as the challenges posed by information asymmetry and sparse annotation. In this paper, we propose SliceProp, an interactive segmentation framework that implements slice-wise lab.l Bidirectional Propagation (LBP) for 3D medical image segmentation. SliceProp extends the interactive 2D image segmentation algorithm to 3D image segmentation, and can handle 3D data with large size and high complexity. Moreover, equipped with a Backtracking Feedback Check (BFC) module, SliceProp effectively addresses the issues of information asymmetry and spatial sparse annotation in 3D medical image segmentation. Additionally, we adopt an uncertainty-based criterion to pri-oritize the slices to be refined interactively, which enhances the efficiency of the interaction process by enabling the model to focus on the regions with the most unreliable predictions. SliceProp is evaluated on two datasets and achieves promising results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

We present a four-channel ultrafast wavelength-swept distributed feedback (DFB) semiconductor laser array based on the reconstruction-equivalent-chirp (REC) technique using instantaneous injection current modulation. With the aid of our designed laser driving circuit system consists of the microcontroller unit (MCU), field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and negative metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (n-MOSFETs), the precise pulse driving current for the 4-channel wavelength-swept REC-DFB laser array can be generated and a fast tuning of 16.424 nm within 10 μs is achieved. To further investigate the tuning performance of the proposed wavelength-swept laser source, we then applied it to the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) interrogation system and four FBG temperature sensor arrays were successfully demodulated. The development of high-efficient optical sensing systems heavily relies on the significance of the ultrafast wavelength-swept laser source, which has the potential to greatly enhance FBG interrogator performance in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

The main types of structures of walking robots are considered and the choice of the design of the implemented layout of a six-legged insectomorphic robot is justified. Based on the results of the analysis of known approaches to the design of walking systems and the selected type of robot, solutions of forward and reverse kinematics problems for its joints are described. Kinematic and dynamic models of a six-legged walking robot are calculated and implemented programmatically. A computer simulation model of a six-legged walking robot is constructed that combines a 3d representation of the robot and the dynamics of its movement. The procedure for adjusting the control algorithms for a multilink structure is suggested to adapt for the uncertainties in the robot construction and the surrounding environment. Verification of the proposed mathematical models was carried out on virtual and hardware samples of walking robots. © 2020 IEEE.
