We propose a simple yet effective structural patch decomposition approach for multi-exposure image fusion (MEF) that is robust to ghosting effect. We decompose an image patch into three conceptually independent components: signal strength, signal structure, and mean intensity. Upon fusing these three components separately, we reconstruct a desired patch and place it back into the fused image. This novel patch decomposition approach benefits MEF in many aspects. First, as opposed to most pixel-wise MEF methods, the proposed algorithm does not require post-processing steps to improve visual quality or to reduce spatial artifacts. Second, it handles RGB color channels jointly, and thus produces fused images with more vivid color appearance. Third and most importantly, the direction of the signal structure component in the patch vector space provides ideal information for ghost removal. It allows us to reliably and efficiently reject inconsistent object motions with respect to a chosen reference image without performing computationally expensive motion estimation. We compare the proposed algorithm with 12 MEF methods on 21 static scenes and 12 deghosting schemes on 19 dynamic scenes (with camera and object motion). Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm not only outperforms previous MEF algorithms on static scenes but also consistently produces high quality fused images with little ghosting artifacts for dynamic scenes. Moreover, it maintains a lower computational cost compared with the state-of-The-Art deghosting schemes.11The MATlab.code of the proposed algorithm will be made availab.e online. In this paper, an efficient two-stage segmentation framework was proposed to address the plant leaf image with overlapping phenomenon, which is built based on the leaf approximate symmetry and level set evolution theory. In the pre-segmentation stage, a straight line was manually set on the target leaf to approximate the principal leaf vein and the Local Chan-Vese (LCV) model was used on the global image region to help searching the so-called un-overlapping contour in target leaf. In the formal segmentation stage, the symmetry detection was performed based on the pre-defined approximated principal vein to obtain the narrow-band evolution region and the second initial contour. Next, the LCV model was once again used to find the complete target leaf contour in the narrow-band evolution region. Finally, experiments on some real leaf images with overlapping phenomenon have demonstrated the efficiency and robustness of the proposed segmentation framework. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

We propose a visual tele-AR system, which is a combination of tele-existence and AR techniques. By wearing a video see-through HMD and moving his head, a user in this system is able to tele-operate a remote pan-tilt platform to observe the remote scene. Unlike traditional tele-existence systems which use mechanical or magnetic sensors for tele-operation, we propose a novel tele-operation method based on real-time tracking of master and slave cameras. The master camera is a component of the video see-through HMD mounted in front of user's eyes, while the slave camera is carried by a remote platform. We estimate use's head motion by tracking the master camera in real time, and translate head motions into motion commands to drive the remote pan-tilt platform. Ideally, motion of the remote platform will be exactly the same as user's head. Unfortunately, motion speed of the slave platform is usually limited by their mechanical capability, which may cause pose inconsistence between master and slave cameras, especially when user's head moves fast. We solve this problem by also tracking slave camera in real time, and warping video images according to difference between master and slave camera pose. Since slave camera is tracked, we can integrate virtual objects into remote scene, giving the user an augmented visual sense. To reduce system delay, our implementation is accelerated GPU parallel computation. Experimental results show the efficiency and robustness of our method. © 2012 IEEE.

There are a number of leaf recognition methods, but most of them are based on Euclidean space. In this paper, we will introduce a new description of feature for the leaf image recognition, which represents the leaf contour with the ordered sequence. For a leaf image, points on the contour represent the most important information of the leaf. Thus, by extracting serial points of the leaf contour, the unique corresponding ordered sequence can be obtained for a contour. Then, we can compute the amplitude-frequency feature by performing the Discrete Fourier transform on the ordered sequence. Since the low-frequency part of the Fourier transform represents the global information and the high-frequency part the local details, we can adopt the amplitude-frequency feature for leaf image recognition. Experimental results on the famous Swedish library and ICL library show that the proposed feature is effective for leaf image recognition. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper, a new method was applied to predict the protein subcellular localization. The features used in the paper were the Distance frequency (DF), the Physical and chemical composition (PCC) and the Pseudo Amino Acid composition (PseAA). The classifier was integrated by Binary tree and Error-Correcting Output Coding (ECOC) based six Artifical neural networks (ANN). The prediction ability was evaluated by 5-jackknife cross-validation. By comparing its results with other methods, such as Lei-SVM and ESVM, the experimental result demonstrated that our method outperformed their predictions, and indicate the new approach is feasible and effective. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

With the rapid development of the Internet, people increasingly pay attention to the users' online privacy issues. And so, building privacy domain-specific ontology is a necessary method for using and protecting privacy data among computer systems. Ontology is an explicit conceptualization for specific domain and is used in natural language processing, information retrieval, knowledge sharing and other fields widely. This paper introduces the principles and steps of building a privacy ontology, and studies a basic concept of privacy ontology and describes the ontology with OWL, and then gives the methods system of the privacy ontology establishment. At the same time, this paper makes a preliminary analysis of the consistency of privacy ontology. The privacy ontology building realizes knowledge sharing and the reuse of privacy domain and helps to protect and manage the online privacy of Internet users. ©2010 IEEE.

Automatic composition of semantic Web services by requests is one of difficult problems in the field of Web services. In this paper we investigate Web services ontology and ant colony (AC) algorithm and propose a method of composition of semantic Web services (ACAC) that is based on ant colony algorithm. We generate a graph of input and output of semantic Web services, using this method, and then the composition of Web services is transformed into finding a satisfying path in the graph. So AC algorithm is used for efficient composition of Web services. Finally, we have tested ACAC with a test set and the results show that the algorithm can successfully compose the semantic Web services and is also able to ensure the quality and efficiency of composition. ©2009 IEEE.

With the development of architecture design, virtual reality, entertainment, mechanical engineering and cultural heritage, digital watermarking has played an important role in copyright protection of 3-D objects. However, due to the problems such as computational complexity and capturing local geometrical feature of 3D mesh, watermarking of 3D objects has not reached the same level of maturity as that of still images and video. In order to alleviate them, mesh partition is applied in the algorithm. This paper presents a novel mesh partition approach which can predict the partition boundary ofstego-mesh with some additional information instead of the presence of the cover-mesh. The canonical positions of meshes are determined by employing the face normal principal component analysis. So the additional information is picked up scatteredly from the elevation of the cover-mesh in canonical coordinate systems and used to match the elevation of the stego-mesh. After matching the elevation, the deflected degree of coordinate system is estimated to realign the stego-mesh approximately and plot out the partition boundary. Finally, an improved watermarking is proposed and a group of experiment results are presented to verify the stability of the proposed partition scheme against some attach imposed on meshes. © 2009 IEEE.

Web Services is a service-oriented architecture of Web-based standard software components, while the Agent is intelligent software entity which has its own ability to achieve its designed goals in a heterogeneous environment. In order to improve the qualities of Web Services, this paper introduced a QoS module to Web Services and proposed Agent Web Services System (AWSS) for the composition of Web Services, which explored the use of Agent technology for searching and binding Web Services in line with the users' demands. Finally, we deployed AWSS, which achieved our goal of distributing our tasks, and also could invoke and bind Web Services dynamically. ©2009 IEEE.

In this paper, a technique for the extraction of roads in a high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image is presented. And a three-step method is developed for the extraction of road network from space borne SAR image: the process of the feature points, road candidate detection and connection. Roads in a high resolution SAR image can be modeled as a homogeneous dark area bounded by two parallel boundaries. Dark areas, which represent the candidate positions for roads, are extracted from the image by a Gaussian probability iteration segmentation. Possible road candidates are further processed using the morphological operators. And the roads are accurately detected by Hough Transform, and the extraction of lines is achieved by searching the peak values in Hough Space. In this process, to detect roads more accurately, post-processing, including noisy dark regions removal and false roads removal is performed. At last, Road candidate connection is carried out hierarchically according to road established models. Finally, the main road network is established from the SAR image successfully. As an example, using the ERS-2SAR image data, automatic detection of main road network in Shanghai Pudong area is presented.
