Power domain non-orthogonal multiple access has emerged as a critical solution to address the spectral inefficiency of orthogonal multiple access and to meet the demands of next-generation multiple access in 5G and beyond 5G and 6G internet of things networks. Coordinated multi-point-non-orthogonal multiple access can effectively manage interference and enhance spectral efficiency in densely populated heterogeneous networks particularly for cell-edge users. However, relying solely on non-orthogonal multiple access for all users across varying and practical channel conditions, especially under imperfect successive interference cancellation, is often impractical. An adaptable approach is required to serve a broader range of users. To address this need, we propose a joint transmission-coordinated multi-point enabled flexible-non-orthogonal multiple access framework that maximizes the network’s sum-rate and dynamically optimizes power allocation. Our approach mitigates challenges posed by paired non-orthogonal multiple access users who fail to meet minimum quality of service requirements due to practical issues like successive interference cancellation imperfections or by presence of unpaired users. The study focuses on jointly optimizing Coordinated multi-point and non-coordinated multi-point user selection, non-orthogonal multiple access user pairing, orthogonal multiple access/non-orthogonal multiple access mode selection, and power allocation using a Genetic algorithm to enhance sum-rate performance across the network. We introduce a Genetic Algorithm-based flexible non-orthogonal multiple access with adaptive quality of service and orthogonal multiple access switching algorithm to solve this joint optimization problem, ensuring reliable service provision and reducing disruptions caused by suboptimal channel conditions and interference. Segmenting histology images into diagnostically relevant regions is imperative to support timely and reliable decisions by pathologists. To this end, computer-aided techniques have been proposed to delineate relevant regions in scanned histology slides. However, the techniques necessitate task-specific large datasets of annotated pixels, which is tedious, time-consuming, expensive, and infeasible to acquire for many histology tasks. Thus, weakly-supervised semantic segmentation techniques are proposed to utilize weak supervision that is cheaper and quicker to acquire. In this paper, we propose SegGini, a weakly supervised segmentation method using graphs, that can utilize weak multiplex annotations, i.e., inexact and incomplete annotations, to segment arbitrary and large images, scaling from tissue microarray (TMA) to whole slide image (WSI). Formally, SegGini constructs a tissue-graph representation for an input histology image, where the graph nodes depict tissue regions. Then, it performs weakly-supervised segmentation via node classification by using inexact image-level lab.ls, incomplete scribbles, or both. We evaluated SegGini on two public prostate cancer datasets containing TMAs and WSIs. Our method achieved state-of-the-art segmentation performance on both datasets for various annotation settings while being comparable to a pathologist baseline. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. The Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) is inspired by the ecological behaviors of fish schooling in nature, viz., the preying, swarming and following behaviors. Owing to a number of salient properties, which include flexibility, fast convergence, and insensitivity to the initial parameter settings, the family of AFSA has emerged as an effective Swarm Intelligence (SI) methodology that has been widely applied to solve real-world optimization problems. Since its introduction in 2002, many improved and hybrid AFSA models have been developed to tackle continuous, binary, and combinatorial optimization problems. This paper aims to present a concise review of the continuous AFSA, encompassing the original ASFA, its improvements and hybrid models, as well as their associated applications. We focus on articles published in high-quality journals since 2013. Our review provides insights into AFSA parameters modifications, procedure and sub-functions. The main reasons for these enhancements and the comparison results with other hybrid methods are discussed. In addition, hybrid, multi-objective and dynamic AFSA models that have been proposed to solve continuous optimization problems are elucidated. This paper presents a load balancing method for a multi-block grids-based CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) application on heterogeneous platform. This method includes an asymmetric task scheduling scheme and a load balancing model. The idea is to balance the computing speed between the CPU and the coprocessor by adjusting the workload and the numbers of threads on both sides. Optimal load balance parameters are empirically selected, guided by a performance model. Performance evaluation is conducted on a computer server consists of two Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 CPUs and two MIC coprocessors (Xeon Phi 5110P and Xeon Phi 7120P) for the simulation of turbulent combustion in a supersonic combustor. The results show that the performance is highly sensitive to the load balance parameters. With the optimal parameters, the heterogeneous computing achieves a maximum speedup of 2.30 × for a 6-block mesh, and a maximum speedup of 2.66 × for a 8-block mesh, over the CPU-only computing.

Multi-interactive dual-decoder for RGB-thermal salient object detection

RGB-thermal salient object detection (SOD) aims to segment the common prominent regions of visible image and corresponding thermal infrared image that we call it RGBT SOD. Existing methods don’t fully explore and exploit the potentials of complementarity of different modalities and multi-type cues of image contents, which play a vital role in achieving accurate results. In this paper, we propose a multi-interactive dual-decoder to mine and model the multi-type interactions for accurate RGBT SOD. In specific, we first encode two modalities into multi-level multi-modal feature representations. Then, we design a novel dual-decoder to conduct the interactions of multi-level features, two modalities and global contexts. With these interactions, our method works well in diversely challenging scenarios even in the presence of invalid modality. Finally, we carry out extensive experiments on public RGBT and RGBD SOD datasets, and the results show that the proposed method achieves the outstanding performance against state-of-the-art algorithms. RGB and thermal source data suffer from both shared and specific challenges, and how to explore and exploit them plays a critical role to represent the target appearance in RGBT tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel challenge-aware neural network to handle the modality-shared challenges (e.g., fast motion, scale variation and occlusion) and the modality-specific ones (e.g., illumination variation and thermal crossover) for RGBT tracking. In particular, we design several parameter-shared branches in each layer to model the target appearance under the modality-shared challenges, and several parameter-independent branches under the modality-specific ones. Based on the observation that the modality-specific cues of different modalities usually contains the complementary advantages, we propose a guidance module to transfer discriminative features from one modality to another one, which could enhance the discriminative ability of some weak modality. Moreover, all branches are aggregated together in an adaptive manner and parallel embedded in the backbone network to efficiently form more discriminative target representations. These challenge-aware branches are able to model the target appearance under certain challenges so that the target representations can be learnt by a few parameters even in the situation of insufficient training data. From the experimental results we will show that our method operates at a real-time speed while performing well against the state-of-the-art methods on three benchmark datasets. Because of computing and storage limitation of one satellite, it is difficult to process large amounts of data of spaceborne synthetic aperture radars. A new method for networked satellites data processing based on intersatellite cloud computing system (ICCS) using a 'stage-by-stage' CS algorithm is proposed in this paper, which is built with FPGA chips as the computing kernel of the system. Different from the traditional CS algorithm processing, the system divides data processing into three stages. The computing tasks are reasonably allocated to different data processing units (i.e. satellites) in each stage. The method effectively saves computing and storage resources of satellites, improves the utilization rate of a single satellite, and shortens the data processing time. GF-3 satellite SAR raw data is processed by the system, with the performance of the method verified. © 2019 IEEE.

Collab.rative Metric Learning (CML) has recently emerged as a popular method in recommendation systems (RS), closing the gap between metric learning and Collab.rative Filtering. Following the convention of RS, existing methods exploit unique user representation in their model design. This paper focuses on a challenging scenario where a user has multiple categories of interests. Under this setting, we argue that the unique user representation might induce preference bias, especially when the item category distribution is imbalanced. To address this issue, we propose a novel method called Diversity-Promoting Collab.rative Metric Learning (DPCML), with the hope of considering the commonly ignored minority interest of the user. The key idea behind DPCML is to include a multiple set of representations for each user in the system. Based on this embedding paradigm, user preference toward an item is aggregated from different embeddings by taking the minimum item-user distance among the user embedding set. Furthermore, we observe that the diversity of the embeddings for the same user also plays an essential role in the model. To this end, we propose a diversity control regularization term to accommodate the multi-vector representation strategy better. Theoretically, we show that DPCML could generalize well to unseen test data by tackling the challenge of the annoying operation that comes from the minimum value. License plate recognition plays a critical role in many practical applications, but license plates of large vehicles are difficult to be recognized due to the factors of low resolution, contamination, low illumination, and occlusion, to name a few. To overcome the above factors, the transportation management department generally introduces the enlarged license plate behind the rear of a vehicle. However, enlarged license plates have high diversity as they are non-standard in position, size, and style. Furthermore, the background regions contain a variety of noisy information which greatly disturbs the recognition of license plate characters. Existing works have not studied this challenging problem. In this work, we first address the enlarged license plate recognition problem and contribute a dataset containing 9342 images, which cover most of the challenges of real scenes. However, the created data are still insufficient to train deep methods of enlarged license plate recognition, and building large-scale training data is very time-consuming and high lab.r cost. To handle this problem, we propose a novel task-level disentanglement generation framework based on the Disentangled Generation Network (DGNet), which disentangles the generation into the text generation and background generation in an end-to-end manner to effectively ensure diversity and integrity, for robust enlarged license plate recognition. Extensive experiments on the created dataset are conducted, and we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in three representative text recognition frameworks. © 2022, CC BY.
