A new hybrid approach has been applied to determine the optimal location and size of shunt capacitors to improve the power factor (PF), enhance the voltage profile (VP), and consequently reduce total active and reactive power losses in the Radial Distribution System (RDS). This paper proposes a hybrid approach combining Reactive Power Flow Analysis (RPFA), Weak Bus Identification (WBI), and the Particle Swarm Optimizer (PSO) algorithm, the RPFA-WBI-PSO. Indeed, the RPFA-WBI index identifies the network nodes most sensitive to the addition of capacitors, while the PSO algorithm optimizes their sizes. The proposed approach was evaluated on 10- and 33-bus RDSs to assess its performance compared to other methods in the literature. The RPFA-WBI-PSO method presents a percentage reduction in active power loss of 14.09% for the 10-bus RDS and 34.95% in the case of the 33-bus RDS. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The study of a neutron spectrum unfolding method based on particle swarm optimization combined with maximum likelihood expectation maximization

The neutron spectrum unfolding by Bonner sphere spectrometer(BSS) is considered a complex multidimensional model,which requires complex mathematical methods to solve the first kind of Fredholm integral equation. In order to solve the problem of the maximum likelihood expectation maximization(MLEM) algorithm which is easy to suffer the pitfalls of local optima and the particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm which is easy to get unreasonable flight direction and step length of particles, which leads to the invalid iteration and affect efficiency and accuracy, an improved PSO-MLEM algorithm, combined of PSO and MLEM algorithm, is proposed for neutron spectrum unfolding. The dynamic acceleration factor is used to balance the ability of global and local search, and improves the convergence speed and accuracy of the algorithm. Firstly, the Monte Carlo method was used to simulated the BSS to obtain the response function and count rates of BSS. In the simulation of count rate, four reference spectra from the IAEA Technical Report Series No. 403 were used as input parameters of the Monte Carlo method. The PSO-MLEM algorithm was used to unfold the neutron spectrum of the simulated data and was verified by the difference of the unfolded spectrum to the reference spectrum. Finally, the 252Cf neutron source was measured by BSS, and the PSO-MLEM algorithm was used to unfold the experimental neutron *** with maximum entropy deconvolution(MAXED), PSO and MLEM algorithm, the PSO-MLEM algorithm has fewer parameters and automatically adjusts the dynamic acceleration factor to solve the problem of local optima. The convergence speed of the PSO-MLEM algorithm is 1.4 times and 3.1 times that of the MLEM and PSO algorithms. Compared with PSO, MLEM and MAXED, the correlation coefficients of PSO-MLEM algorithm are increased by 33.1%, 33.5% and 1.9%, and the relative mean errors are decreased by 98.2%, 97.8% and 67.4%.

In recent years, quantum computing has emerged as a transformative force in the field of combinatorial optimization, offering novel approaches to tackling complex problems that have long challenged classical computational methods. Among these, the Quantum Approximate optimization Algorithm (QAOA) stands out for its potential to efficiently solve the Max-Cut problem, a quintessential example of combinatorial optimization. However, practical application faces challenges due to current limitations on quantum computational resource. Our work optimizes QAOA initialization, using Graph Neural Networks (GNN) as a warm-start technique. This sacrifices affordable computational resource on classical computer to reduce quantum computational resource overhead, enhancing QAOA's effectiveness. Experiments with various GNN architectures demonstrate the adaptability and stability of our framework, highlighting the synergy between quantum algorithms and machine learning. Our findings show GNN's potential in improving QAOA performance, opening new avenues for hybrid quantum-classical approaches in quantum computing and contributing to practical applications. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast(ADS-B)technology can eliminate the blind spots of terrestrial ADS-B systems because of its global coverage ***,the space-based ADS-B system faces new problems such as extremely low Signal-toNoise Ratio(SNR)and serious co-channel interference,which result in long update *** minimize the position message update interval at an update probability of 95%with full coverage constraint,this paper presents an optimization model of digital multi-beamforming for space-based ***,a coevolution method DECCG_A&A is proposed to enhance the optimization efficiency by using an improved adaptive grouping *** strategy is based on the locations of uncovered areas and the aircraft density under the coverage of each *** results show that the update interval can be effectively controlled to be below 8 seconds compared with other existing methods,and DECCG_A&A is superior in convergence to the Genetic Algorithm(GA)as well as the coevolution algorithms using other grouping ***,the proposed optimization model and method can significantly reduce the update interval,thus improving the surveillance performance of space-based ADS-B for air traffic control.

Graph Augmentation Empowered Contrastive Learning for Recommendation

The application of contrastive learning (CL) to collaborative filtering (CF) in recommender systems has achieved remarkable success. CL-based recommendation models mainly focus on creating multiple augmented views by employing different graph augmentation methods and utilizing these views for self-supervised learning. However, current CL methods for recommender systems usually struggle to fully address the problem of noisy data. To address this problem, we propose the Graph Augmentation Empowered Contrastive Learning (GAECL) for recommendation framework, which uses graph augmentation based on topological and semantic dual adaptation and global co-modeling via structural optimization to co-create contrasting views for better augmentation of the CF paradigm. Specifically, we strictly filter out unimportant topologies by reconstructing the adjacency matrix and mask unimportant attributes in nodes according to the PageRank centrality principle to generate an augmented view that filters out noisy data. Additionally, GAECL achieves global collaborative modeling through structural optimization and generates another augmented view based on the PageRank centrality principle. This helps to filter the noisy data while preserving the original semantics of the data for more effective data augmentation. Extensive experiments are conducted on five datasets to demonstrate the superior performance of our model over various recommendation models. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Recent text-to-3D generation methods achieve impressive 3D content creation capacity thanks to the advances in image diffusion models and optimizing strategies. However, current methods struggle to generate correct 3D content for a complex prompt in semantics, i.e., a prompt describing multiple interacted objects binding with different attributes. In this work, we propose a general framework named Progressive3D, which decomposes the entire generation into a series of locally progressive editing steps to create precise 3D content for complex prompts, and we constrain the content change to only occur in regions determined by user-defined region prompts in each editing step. Furthermore, we propose an overlapped semantic component suppression technique to encourage the optimization process to focus more on the semantic differences between prompts. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed Progressive3D framework is effective in local editing and is general for different 3D representations, leading to precise 3D content production for prompts with complex semantics for various text-to-3D methods.
