In this study, we investigate the non-linear (NL) behavior of AlN/GaN HEMT technologies under gain compression when submitted to 10 GHz single-tone RF-step stress, which is crucial for millimetre-wave power applicatio...

This paper presents the elaboration of an analytical model for a resonating micromembrane. The membranes are dedicated to biosensing experiments, the actuation and detection being realized by the action of a lead zirconate titanate 46/54 PbZrxTi1-xO3 piezoelectric material cell. The model is synthesized as an equivalent Butterworth-Van-Dyke circuit enabling the direct modelling of the membranes' behaviour both in air and a viscous fluid. The model is established for a five layer stack micromembrane mounted with a circular piezoelectric cell. The fabrication of membranes with a global radius of 100 μm and different piezoelectric cell sizes is reported. The characteristics curves for the membranes behaviour are extracted for the vibrations in air and in water. The comparison of theoretical and experimental results is detailed and reveals a good accordance between the modelled and the extracted curves.

Classical unequal erasure protection schemes split data to be protected into classes which are encoded independently. The unequal protection scheme presented in this paper is based on an erasure code which encodes all the data together according to the existing dependencies. A simple algorithm generates dynamically the generator matrix of the erasure code according to the packets streams structure, i.e., the dependencies between the packets, and the rate of the code. This proposed erasure code was applied to a packetized MPEG4 stream transmitted over a packet erasure channel and compared with other classical protection schemes in terms of PSNR and MOS. It is shown that the proposed code allows keeping a high video quality-level in a larger packet loss rate range than the other protection schemes.
An array of microcantilevers, allowing electrochemical reactions to take place inside picoliter droplets, was used to fabricate a simple DNA chip bearing two ODN probes as a proof-of-concept. The electrochemical cells...

This paper presents an original concept in which integrated over-voltage and/or over-current protections of power devices are used to produce a self-switching operation. Such a commutation is shown as a possible combination with conventional forced-switching and spontaneous-switching to simplify direct regenerative ac-dc conversion, insulating dc-ac-dc conversion and finally direct ac-ac conversion. Experimental results prove the feasibility of the concept through which the self turn-off operation is likely to offer the best practical gains.
This paper presents a diagnosis framework based on a qualitative model of the process. Starting from a dynamic abstraction procedure under a defined operating mode a fuzzy partitioning of the variables evolution is ma...

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a new signaling protocol adopted by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). SIP is used to establish and release sessions between end systems. SIP will play a determinant role in the future as one of the most important signaling protocols for session's establishment and management. In this paper we explore the use of SIP to manage sessions between SIP users in a DiffServ Domain. We use SIP to enhance the performance of TCP sessions by stochastic scheduling of sessions according to their size and duration. Copyright 2005 ACM.
