The dc-dc converters are highly efficient tools used to supply power to different systems, they have a nonlinear behavior and variations at their main parameters could affect their stability. This document studies and compares different control strategies, linear and non linear controllers applied to a Buck converter. There are mainly three control strategies treated in this paper. First an optimal control based design, by employing The quadratic performance index (QPI) is used, second a knowledge based fuzzy control is studied and third an artificial neural network (ANN) as a dynamic emulator of the fuzzy control is proposed. Some comparisons about the systems composed by the plant and a controller, in variation of a few plant parameters were made; in addition the computational time in simulation is compared between the two intelligent controllers.

The method proposes to design a fuzzy controller whose inference and defuzzification stages are simplified thanks to the synthesis of multivaluated functions. Using this approach, a nonlinear MIMO system is controlled in simulation. The article presents the architectural proposal and hardware implementation of two fuzzy adaptive filters, which are intended to perform real time non linear channel equalization. The proposed architecture considers on-line adaptation of Gaussian membership functions. The key point of the architecture is a circuit that generates Gaussian membership functions. Taking into account the proposed architecture, two first order fuzzy adaptive filters are implemented over field programmable gate array technology. These implementations are compared with their software counterparts in terms of processing speed and bit error rate performance.

This paper presents a type-2 fuzzy logic controller for a robotic agent intended to track a mobile object in the context of robot soccer games. The controller has two inputs and two outputs that are logically connected by four rules. Image processing is used to estimate the angle between the agent and the target, which introduces uncertainty in the control loop. Other sources of uncertainty related to defects in the control loop have been identified. In this sense, the paper explores how the type-2 controller overcomes those sources without incrementing the computational cost of the application

This paper presents an approach for implementing center average defuzzifier by means of distributed arithmetic. This approach was applied in the design of two digital fuzzy processors, their architectures are described and compared in terms of system level organization. An automatic hardware code generation tool was used for specifying these fuzzy processors. Furthermore, they were implemented over a VirtexE/spl reg/ FPGA. Implementation results show that it is possible to obtain a processing speed up to 45 MFLIPS and reduced area cost for distributed arithmetic based parallel organized fuzzy inference systems.

The design and realization of a leading-to-FPGA implementation Mandani's fuzzy inference system with two inputs, 16 rules and single output is introduced here. System architecture, that is sequential in nature, was specified through a software tool which automatically generates the architecture code according to user settings. A novel type defuzzyfication stage was implemented in order to use a parallel distributed arithmetic scheme.
