Ergotropy and capacity optimization in Heisenberg spin-chain quantum batteries

This study examines the performance of finite spin quantum batteries (QBs) using Heisenberg XX, XY, XXZ, and XYZ spin models with Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) and Kaplan–Shekhtman–Entin-Wohlman–Aharony (KSEA) interactions. The QBs are modeled as interacting quantum spins in local inhomogeneous magnetic fields, inducing variable Zeeman splitting. We derive analytical expressions for the maximal extractable work, ergotropy and the capacity of QBs, as recently examined by Yang et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 131, 030402 (2023)]. These quantities are analytically linked through certain quantum correlations, as posited in the aforementioned study. Different Heisenberg spin-chain models exhibit distinct behaviors under varying conditions, emphasizing the importance of model selection for optimizing QB performance. In antiferromagnetic (AFM) systems, maximum ergotropy occurs with a Zeeman splitting field applied to either spin, while ferromagnetic (FM) systems benefit from a uniform Zeeman field. Temperature significantly impacts QB performance such that ergotropy in the AFM case is generally more robust against increasing temperature compared to the FM case. Incorporating DM and KSEA couplings can significantly enhance the capacity and ergotropy extraction of QBs. However, there exists a threshold beyond which additional increases in these interactions cause a sharp decline in capacity and ergotropy. This behavior is influenced by temperature and quantum coherence, which signal the occurrence of a sudden phase transition. The resource theory of quantum coherence proposed by Baumgratz et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 140401 (2014)] plays a crucial role in enhancing ergotropy and capacity. However, ergotropy is limited by both the system's capacity and the amount of coherence. These findings support the theoretical framework of spin-based QBs and may benefit future research on quantum energy storage devices.

Protein-protein interactions are of great significance for human to understand the functional mechanisms of *** the rapid development of high-throughput genomic technologies,massive protein-protein interaction(PPI)data have been generated,making it very difficult to analyze them *** address this problem,this paper presents a distributed framework by reimplementing one of state-of-the-art algorithms,i.e.,CoFex,using *** do so,an in-depth analysis of its limitations is conducted from the perspectives of efficiency and memory consumption when applying it for large-scale PPI data analysis and *** solutions are then devised to overcome these *** particular,we adopt a novel tree-based data structure to reduce the heavy memory consumption caused by the huge sequence information of *** that,its procedure is modified by following the MapReduce framework to take the prediction task distributively.A series of extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of our framework in terms of both efficiency and *** results well demonstrate that the proposed framework can considerably improve its computational efficiency by more than two orders of magnitude while retaining the same high accuracy.

The paper considers a mathematical model for managing a scientific digital ecosystem exemplified by the agriculture case; the model enables assessing the impact science exerts on the regions’ socioeconomic position in order to build an adequate response to the advanced economies’ regime of severe sanctions against Russia. For these purposes, a systemic analysis of the subject identification and classification of ecosystems was conducted to address the critical issue of determining the basic concepts and terms of the country’s digitalization.

Dear Editor,Electric vehicle(EV)sales have significantly grown over the years to fulfill growing demands for economic travel and greenhouse gas mitigation.1 However,the surge in the number of EVs has led to charging anxiety as users struggle to find an available charging station before running out of electricity,resulting in longer reserve and waiting times.2 Moreover,severe mobility restrictions caused by infectious diseases,such as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),have greatly affected people’s travel behavior3,4 and hindered their willingness to use EVs,given that charging in public spaces consumes time and increases the risk of contracting the virus.5 This implies that in the postpandemic era,in which individuals coexist with the virus,the interplay between the two important trends,namely vehicle electrification and mobility restrictions,can extensively affect people’s daily commuting by using EVs.

Objective: The objective is to develop a predictive model utilizing Support Vector Machines (SVM) for the purpose of classifying the clinical stage of breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Accurate determination of the clinical stage of breast cancer patients holds significant importance in selecting suitable treatment options and minimizing avoidable complications. In this study, we present the application of radiomics and SVM for breast cancer computed tomography (CT) to anticipate the preoperative clinical stage in breast cancer patients. The training dataset encompasses 166 cases obtained from the Affiliated Hospital of Xiangnan University, while the test dataset comprises 91 cases from Chenzhou Third People's Hospital. The integration of clinical parameters with radiomics exhibits the most superior diagnostic efficacy in forecasting the clinical stage of breast cancer. As part of the evaluation, various metrics were calculated, including the area under the curve (AUC), the accuracy (ACC), sensitivity (Sen), specificity (Spe), positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV). To differentiate between the radiomics model, clinical data model, and fusion model, the Delong test was utilized. The precision of the prediction model was evaluated by generating a calibration curve using 1,000 bootstrap weight samples. Furthermore, the decision curve analysis (DCA) was conducted to assess the model's practicality. Results: The fusion model exhibits superior predictive performance compared to both the single radiomics model and clinical model. The fusion model's test sets of AUC, ACC, Sen, Spe, PPV, and NPV are 0.824, 0.780, 0.932, 0.652, 0.707, and 0.909, respectively. Conclusion: The fusion model exhibits greater efficacy than both the single radiomics model and clinical model, and thus holds significant potential for facilitating the diagnosis of breast cancer stage and the development of individualized treatment *** © 2023 ACM.

We propose a comprehensive soccer match video analysis pipeline tailored for broadcast footage, which encompasses three pivotal stages: soccer field localization, player tracking, and soccer ball detection. Firstly, we introduce sports camera calibration to seamlessly map soccer field images from match videos onto a standardized two-dimensional soccer field template. This addresses the challenge of consistent analysis across video frames amid continuous camera angle changes. Secondly, given challenges such as occlusions, high-speed movements, and dynamic camera perspectives, obtaining accurate position data for players and the soccer ball is non-trivial. To mitigate this, we curate a large-scale, high-precision soccer ball detection dataset and devise a robust detection model, which achieved the (Formula presented.) of 80.9%. Additionally, we develop a high-speed, efficient, and lightweight tracking model to ensure precise player tracking. Through the integration of these modules, our pipeline focuses on real-time analysis of the current camera lens content during matches, facilitating rapid and accurate computation and analysis while offering intuitive visualizations. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
