In this paper, a fully circuit implementation of Memristive Neural Network (MNN) is proposed. The forward calculation of the network is based on winner-take-all (WTA) mechanism. The weight updating is achieved through the difference of pre-spike and post-spike, which is more close to the biological weight adjustment mechanism. The network is implemented in a full circuit without additional control units. The designed circuit consists of four modules. The memristive crossbar array module with one-memristor (1M) unit structure can effectively calculate the vector-matrix multiplication with only one step. The switch S is replaced by the transistor in the designed leaky-integrate-and-fire (LIF) module, which can control the integration and leakage of the membrane voltage and realize the lateral inhibition between output neurons. Connecting the integrated monostable trigger and the difference circuit, the post-spike generating module can output the required post-spike. The signal switch module realizes the switching of signals connected to memristors by using voltage-controlled switches. The combination of two modules validly realizes weight updating. The functions of four modules are verified separately. We performed a simulation experiment of 5×3 pixels image classification based on the designed circuit in PSPICE. The circuit output results and the high classification accuracy prove the circuit can be effectively applied in pattern recognition. The noise experiment shows the robustness of the designed circuit. © 2021 IEEE.

In this paper, a fixed-time convergent reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm is developed to realize the secure tracking control of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) via the zero-sum game for the first time. To mitigate FDI attack on actuators that may cause the UAV to deviate from the reference trajectory, a zero-sum differential game framework is built in which the secure controller tries to minimize the common performance function, yet the attacker plays a contrary role. Obtaining the optimal secure tracking controller depends on solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs (HJI) equation related to the zero-sum game. Therefore, a critic-only online RL algorithm is proposed that can converge in a fixed time interval, with the corresponding convergence proof provided. A simulation example is given to show the effectiveness of the raised method.

Deep neural networks for 3D point clouds have shown significant progress in safety-critical applications. However, the robustness of these deep 3D models is insufficient-explored when faced with adversarial attacks. The existing point clouds attack methods usually rely on detailed model information (white-box attacks) or access to the training data (transfer-based black-box attacks). In this work, we make the first attempt in decision-based black-box attack for point clouds (PCDA), which only leverages the predicted labels of the victim models. Specifically, a novel perturbation projection based on chamfer distance is developed to be compatible with 3D irregular data, and the gradient estimation based on low-dimensional subspaces can generate smoother perturbations. Moreover, armed with iterative closest point, the novel perturbation initialization can improve the effectiveness of targeted black-box attacks. Evaluated on a variety of typical 3D models, our algorithm can efficiently generate smooth 3D adversarial samples with a lower magnitude of perturbations. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

An adaptive optimal control strategy for solid oxide fuel cell power generation systems (SOFCs) is proposed in this paper. A new estimator is proposed in a simple form to solve the modeling uncertainty, and express the control of SOFCs as an optimal control problem. Then, a new system thermoelectric parameter tracking control strategy is proposed. The strategy uses data-driven to build the recursive neural network model of the system thermoelectric parameters. In order to ensure convergence, an adaptive law based on parameter estimation error is proposed to update the weights of neural networks online. The simulation results show that the data-driven model can effectively identify the power generation process of solid oxide fuel cell system. At the same time, the control method can realize the optimal tracking control of power, voltage, stack temperature and afterburner temperature with limited input.

Large-scale multiobjective optimization problems (LSMOPs) exist widely in real-world applications, and they are challenging for existing evolutionary algorithms due to their massive volume of search space. Despite that a number of large-scale multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (LSMOEAs) have been proposed in recent years, their effectiveness in solving LSMOPs remains unsatisfactory. One main reason is that most existing LSMOEAs may fail to balance convergence enhancement and diversity maintenance, especially for solving real-world problems. To address this issue, we propose to use a hybridized LSMOEA with adaptive operator selection (AOS) to handle real-world LSMOPs. Specifically, the proposed hybridized LSMOEA with AOS (AOS-LSMOEA) includes multiple different offspring generation and environmental selection strategies extracted from some existing LSMOEAs. Then it uses the AOS to adaptively determine the application rates of different offspring generation and environmental selection operators in an online manner. The proposed approach is capable of taking advantage of existing LSMOEAs, and the AOS enables the algorithm to choose suitable operators for solving different LSMOPs. In this study, the proposed algorithm is expected to solve the voltage transformer ratio error estimation (TREE) problems effectively. Experimental results show that AOS-LSMOEA achieves significant performance improvement due to the hybridization of different operators and the adoption of AOS method. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Tracing Intricate Cues in Dialogue: Joint Graph Structure and Sentiment Dynamics for Multimodal Emotion Recognition

Multimodal emotion recognition in conversation (MERC) has garnered substantial research attention recently. Existing MERC methods face several challenges: (1) they fail to fully harness direct inter-modal cues, possibly leading to less-than-thorough cross-modal modeling;(2) they concurrently extract information from the same and different modalities at each network layer, potentially triggering conflicts from the fusion of multi-source data;(3) they lack the agility required to detect dynamic sentimental changes, perhaps resulting in inaccurate classification of utterances with abrupt sentiment shifts. To address these issues, a novel approach named GraphSmile is proposed for tracking intricate emotional cues in multimodal dialogues. GraphSmile comprises two key components, i.e., GSF and SDP modules. GSF ingeniously leverages graph structures to alternately assimilate inter-modal and intra-modal emotional dependencies layer by layer, adequately capturing cross-modal cues while effectively circumventing fusion conflicts. SDP is an auxiliary task to explicitly delineate the sentiment dynamics between utterances, promoting the model’s ability to distinguish sentimental discrepancies. Furthermore, GraphSmile is effortlessly applied to multimodal sentiment analysis in conversation (MSAC), forging a unified multimodal affective model capable of executing MERC and MSAC tasks. Empirical results on multiple benchmarks demonstrate that GraphSmile can handle complex emotional and sentimental patterns, significantly outperforming baseline models. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Temporally-Adaptive Models for Efficient Video Understanding

Spatial convolutions are extensively used in numerous deep video models. It fundamentally assumes spatio-temporal invariance, i.e., using shared weights for every location in different frames. This work presents Temporally-Adaptive Convolutions (TAdaConv) for video understanding, which shows that adaptive weight calibration along the temporal dimension is an efficient way to facilitate modeling complex temporal dynamics in videos. Specifically, TAdaConv empowers spatial convolutions with temporal modeling abilities by calibrating the convolution weights for each frame according to its local and global temporal context. Compared to existing operations for temporal modeling, TAdaConv is more efficient as it operates over the convolution kernels instead of the features, whose dimension is an order of magnitude smaller than the spatial resolutions. Further, kernel calibration brings an increased model capacity. Based on this readily plug-in operation TAdaConv as well as its extension, i.e., TAdaConvV2, we construct TAdaBlocks to empower ConvNeXt and Vision Transformer to have strong temporal modeling capabilities. Empirical results show TAdaConvNeXtV2 and TAdaFormer perform competitively against state-of-the-art convolutional and Transformer-based models in various video understanding benchmarks. Mating restriction strategies are capable of restricting the distribution of parent solutions for effective offspring generation in evolutionary algorithms (EAs). Studies have shown the importance of these strategies in improving the performance of EAs for multiobjective optimization. Our previous study proposed a specific manifold learning inspired mating restriction (MLMR) strategy. It has shown promising capability of solving multiobjective optimization problems (MOPs) with complicated Pareto set shapes. However, the effect of mating restriction strategies in solving constrained MOPs is yet to be well studied. Here, we investigate the effectiveness of MLMR for solving constrained MOPs. The MLMR strategy is embedded into some representative multiobjective EAs and tested on various benchmark constrained MOPs. Experimental results indicate the encouraging performance of MLMR in constrained multiobjective optimization. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This article proposes a multi-agent deep reinforce-ment learning algorithm to control a fleet of unmanned surface vessels (USVs) that encircle and capture sea targets. First, a simulation environment for USVs is established based on a dynamic model; two-dimensional control variables are used to control movements in three directions. Second, the multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) algorithm is employed to achieve intelligent control of the USVs, using a reward function based on certain prior knowledge. Finally, centralized training and decentralized execution are used to complete the offline learning of multiple agents, and continuous action decisions are made based on the observations of the USV sensors. Simulations demonstrate that the method can capture stationary moving sea targets with any number of multi-agents under disturbances, and exhibits strong robustness and practicality.

Clustering-Based Genetic Offspring Generation for Solving Multi-Objective Optimization Problems with Intricate Pareto Sets

Distinct from conventional benchmarks, multiobjective optimization problems (MOPs) encountered in practical domains exhibit complex variable linkages, resulting in intricate Pareto sets (PSs), such as rotated or nonlinear shapes. Simulated binary crossover (SBX), a widely utilized genetic operator for solving MOPs, exhibits a substantial degeneration in performance when applied to MOPs with intricate PSs. The rotation-based SBX (RSBX) incorporates the rotational property into SBX to handle MOPs with linear but rotated PSs. Nevertheless, RSBX may encounter difficulties in solving MOPs with nonlinear PSs. In order to tackle this challenge, we employ a clustering-based mating restriction strategy to address MOPs with intricate PSs, and propose an MOEA called CRSBX. Generally, the clustering-based mating restriction strategy involves partitioning the parent population into approximately linearly distributed clusters. Subsequently, RSBX is applied to each cluster for effective offspring generation. Empirically, we investigate the impact of the clustering algorithm and its associated parameters on CRSBX. Ablation studies are also conducted to examine the efficacy of the clustering-based mating restriction strategy. Additionally, we compare CRSBX with other representative algorithms on benchmark problems and real-world applications with intricate PSs. Comparison results highlight the promising performance of CRSBX in effectively addressing MOPs with intricate PSs. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
