The graph with complex annotations is the most potent data type, whose constantly evolving motivates further exploration of the unsupervised dynamic graph representation. One of the representative paradigms is graph contrastive learning. It constructs self-supervised signals by maximizing the mutual information between the statistic graph’s augmentation views. However, the semantics and labels may change within the augmentation process, causing a significant performance drop in downstream tasks. This drawback becomes greatly magnified on dynamic graphs. To address this problem, we designed a simple yet effective framework named CLDG. Firstly, we elaborate that dynamic graphs have temporal translation invariance at different levels. Then, we proposed a sampling layer to extract the temporally-persistent signals. It will encourage the node to maintain consistent local and global representations, i.e., temporal translation invariance under the timespan views. The extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the method on seven datasets by outperforming eight unsupervised state-of-the-art baselines and showing competitiveness against four semi-supervised methods. Compared with the existing dynamic graph method, the number of model parameters and training time is reduced by an average of 2,001.86 times and 130.31 times on seven datasets, respectively. The task of talking head generation for the media interaction system is to take images and audio clips of the target face as input, and generate a realistic video of the target synchronized with the audio. Most of the existing works directly take all the information in the image as input, which causes the problem of feature information redundancy. At the same time, in the stage of feature fusion, the image and audio information is directly spliced, and the relationship between the two modal information is ignored. To solve the problems, we initially implement the disentanglement of image by introducing a loss function to separate the image into identity features and content-related features. Besides, we introduce a multi-head selfattention mechanism to learn the relationship between the two modal information of image and audio, and implement the full fusion of multi-modal information. In addition, we validate the effectiveness of our model through extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of two datasets. Extensive experiments show the superiority of the proposed model in all aspects.

Fake news detection becomes a critical challenge in NLP. Batch processing with attention-derivative models is a popular solution for fake news detection. Models with attention mechanisms could mitigate the long-distance dependence problem. However, we find that extracting local dependencies using convolutional networks is as important as extracting global dependencies using attention mechanisms. Besides, fake news datasets often suffer from problems such as imbalance and are hard to understand by current models. To address these problems, we propose DRIVE, which is short for an adjustable parallel architecture based on evidence awareness for fake news detection to alleviate the above problems, in which we introduce Claim as a supporting clue to enhance the model’s comprehension ability. Specifically, we propose a novel method for unbalanced datasets and design adjustable parallel branches, using Claim Additives Network (ClaimAddNet) and the MLP with convolutional gating mechanism (CPMLP) to capture global and local information in distinct branches, respectively. Experiments conducted on 5 public datasets demonstrate that DRIVE outperforms all baselines, improving accuracy by approximately 1.7 %. Furthermore, we implement an anti-noise interference test and evaluate the weighted average of the two branches along with ablation studies. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Document-Level Relation Extraction with Entity Type Constraints

Long-tail problem and multi-label problem are two commonly encountered challenges in document-level relation extraction task. Current efforts are concerned with enhancing the representations of entity pairs through Transformer or document graphs, which cannot tackle the above challenges well. Relation correlations are a potential solution, which allows head relations to assist in the training of tail ones by transferring correlation knowledge between them, and can measure the semantic distance between relations to assist the classifier in assigning multiple semantically similar relations to multi-label instances. This paper proposes to learn relation correlations from both global and local views using entity type constraints, which means that the subject-object entity types limit the scope of possible relations. Globally, we statistically construct the Type-constrained Graph between entity types and relations, which formulates all possible subject/object types for each relation. Different relations are connected by common entity types, reflecting the desired correlations. Locally, given an entity pair, the classification probability of relations matching its entity types should be greater than those unmatched. Therefore, the Type-constrained Loss is proposed to make the matched relations have greater probabilities. Detailed experiments are conducted on DocRED and DWIE datasets, and our model significantly outperforms baselines under long-tail and multi-label setups. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

It is well known that when the fitness function is relatively complex, the optimization time cost of the genetic algorithm will be extremely huge. To address this issue, the surrogate model was employed to predict the fitness value of the optimization problem, to reduce the number of actual calculated fitness values. In this paper, BP neural network, the least square method and support vector machine were fused in the genetic algorithm to evaluate partial individuals' fitness. Sufficient benchmark numerical experiments were conducted, and the results proved that the strategy could reduce the calculating counts of fitness function on similar accuracy basis compared with simple genetic algorithm. © 2020 Journal of Physics: Conference Series.

Recent developments in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and mobile edge computing (MEC) have provided users with flexible and resilient computing services. However, meeting the computing-intensive and latency-sensitive demands of users poses a significant challenge due to the limited resources of UAVs. To address this challenge, we present a multi-objective optimization approach for multi-UAV-assisted MEC systems. First, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem aiming at minimizing the total task completion delay, reducing the total UAV energy consumption, and maximizing the total amount of offloaded tasks by jointly optimizing task offloading, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control. Since the problem is a mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP) and NP-hard problem which is challenging, we propose a joint task offloading, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control (JTORATC) approach to solve the problem. However, since the decision variables of task offloading, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control are coupled with each other, the original problem is split into three sub-problems, i.e., task offloading, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control, which are solved individually to obtain the corresponding decisions. Moreover, the sub-problem of task offloading is solved by using distributed splitting and threshold rounding methods, the sub-problem of computation resource allocation is solved by adopting the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) method, and the sub-problem of UAV trajectory control is solved by employing the successive convex approximation (SCA) method. The Traditional Chinese Medicine’s ancient literature recorded the massive medical theories and abundant medical experiences. To better understand and utilize, the knowledge from the literature, the Acupuncture and Tuina knowledge Graph is proposed in this paper. Meanwhile, a deep learning network is established for acupuncture and tuina-related entity recognition and entity-relationship extraction. Finally, the trained network is able to reach an 82%+ F1-score for NER and 70%+ F1-score for relationship extraction.

An Empirical Study on Information Extraction using Large Language Models

Human-like large language models (LLMs), especially the most powerful and popular ones in OpenAI’s GPT family, have proven to be very helpful for many natural language processing (NLP) related tasks. Therefore, various attempts have been made to apply LLMs to information extraction (IE), which is a fundamental NLP task that involves extracting information from unstructured plain text. To demonstrate the latest representative progress in LLMs’ information extraction ability, we assess the information extraction ability of GPT-4 (the latest version of GPT at the time of writing this paper) from four perspectives: Performance, Evaluation Criteria, Robustness, and Error Types. Our results suggest a visible performance gap between GPT-4 and state-of-the-art (SOTA) IE methods. To alleviate this problem, considering the LLMs’ human-like characteristics, we propose and analyze the effects of a series of simple prompt-based methods, which can be generalized to other LLMs and NLP tasks. Rich experiments show our methods’ effectiveness and some of their remaining issues in improving GPT-4’s information extraction ability. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) is emerging as a promising paradigm to provide aerial-terrestrial computing services in close proximity to mobile devices (MDs). However, meeting the demands of computation-intensive and delay-sensitive tasks for MDs poses several challenges, including the demand-supply contradiction between MDs and MEC servers, the demand-supply heterogeneity between MDs and MEC servers, the trajectory control requirements on energy efficiency and timeliness, and the different time-scale dynamics of the network. To address these issues, we first present a hierarchical architecture by incorporating terrestrial-aerial computing capabilities and leveraging UAV flexibility. Furthermore, we formulate a joint computing resource allocation, computation offloading, and trajectory control problem to maximize the system utility. Since the problem is a non-convex and NP-hard mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP), we propose a two-timescale joint computing resource allocation, computation offloading, and trajectory control (TJCCT) approach for solving the problem. In the short timescale, we propose a price-incentive model for on-demand computing resource allocation and a matching mechanism-based method for computation offloading. In the long timescale, we propose a convex optimization-based method for UAV trajectory control. Besides, we theoretically prove the stability, optimality, and polynomial complexity of TJCCT. Extended simulation results demonstrate that the proposed TJCCT outperforms the comparative algorithms in terms of the system utility, average processing rate, average completion delay, and average completion ratio.
