The growing demand for high-quality 3D human rendering in real-world applications highlights significant challenges. These challenges are particularly evident in dealing with occlusion in monocular video. Previous methods often rely on controlled datasets and overlook the inherent symmetry of the human body, leading to incomplete rendering in occluded areas. To address these limitations, we propose SymGaussian, a novel Gaussian Splatting-based approach for rendering occluded human from monocular video. We introduce Multi-scale Symmetry Feature to compensate for lost information in occluded areas, along with a Projective Texture Mapping method that efficiently encodes 2D appearance while preserving 3D perception. Experiments show that SymGaussian outperforms state-of-the-art methods in rendering quality, while achieving rapid training speed and real-time rendering capability exceeding 200 FPS.

Many existing knowledge graph embedding methods learn semantic representations for entities by using graph neural networks (GNN) to harvest their intrinsic relevances. However, these methods mostly represent every entity with one coarse-grained representation, without considering the variation of the semantics of an entity under the context of different relations. To tackle this problem, we propose a method to learn multiple representations of an entity, with each emphasizing one specific aspect of information contained in the entity. During training and testing, only the representation that is most relevant to the considered relation is selected and shown to the model, leading to the relation-selective representations. To enable the selection of representations according to the relation, we first propose to incorporate a relation-controlled gating mechanism into the original GNN, which is used to decide which and how much information can flow into the next updating stage of the GNN. Then, a mixture of relation-level and entity-level negative sample generation methods is further developed to enhance semantic information contained in relation-selective entity representations under the framework of contrastive learning. Experiments on three benchmarks show that our proposed model outperforms all strong baselines. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accurately and timely grasping agricultural information at the regional scale helps to solve food security issues and formulate agricultural policies. Remote sensing images have the advantages of wide monitoring range and the ability to eliminate human interference. In recent years, they have been increasingly valued in crop yield estimation. The CASA model is used to estimate the net primary productivity (NPP) of crops and then combine it with the harvest index (HI) to estimate crop yields. However, most studies use a fixed HI for yield estimation, which can lead to low accuracy. In this context, the HI is studied and improved for winter wheat yield prediction in this research. The main contents are as follows: Firstly, time-series Sentinel-2 optical data and meteorological data were used as inputs of the CASA model to calculate the NPP of winter wheat. Then, HI was calculated using the fieldwork data and a method was proposed to improve it due to its geographic location-related characteristics. Finally, the calculated NPP and improved HI were used to estimate the winter wheat yield. The experimental results prove that the proposed method has higher accuracy than original methods, with determination coefficient(R2) of 0.595, root mean square error(RMSE) of 793.4 kg/ha, and mean absolute error(MAE) of 659.53 kg/ha. © 2023 SPIE.

Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an active radar system carried on a satellite, with the help of synthetic aperture technology to achieve all-day, all-weather, high-resolution imaging, it has been widely used in military reconnaissance, resource exploration, deep space exploration and other fields. As the electromagnetic environment becomes more and more complex, spaceborne SAR is more likely to receive radio frequency interference (RFI) from other radar equipment in the working frequency band, which will affect the interpretation of SAR images and lead to image quality degradation. Although there are endless methods for RFI detection and suppression, each method has its limitations and can only deal with specific interference scenarios. A unified, robust and high-precision SAR interference detection and suppression platform is urgently needed. Based on SAR signal processing technology, this paper uses multiple methods to jointly design a unified high-robust system for SAR data containing different types of RFI, and realizes efficient detection and suppression of spaceborne SAR RFI. The popularization and application of this system is of great significance to improve the anti-interference ability of SAR system, improve the processing efficiency of a large number of SAR data in complex scenes and ensure the accuracy of data. © 2023 SPIE.

Real-time and dynamic monitoring of soil moisture is critically essential for farming activities and crop yield estimation. This paper focuses on the study of surface soil moisture (SSM) in agricultural fields with different vegetation sparsity. Based on the improved water cloud model (WCM) and convolutional neural network (CNN), the SSM inversion of agricultural fields covered with winter wheat at different growth stages was achieved. Firstly, the vegetation cover factor was introduced into the WCM to separate the scattering contribution under crop cover from the direct scattering contribution from the bare ground. Then, the remote sensing data was used to derive numerous characteristic parameters to the SSM. Finally, the CNN model was established for the purpose of SSM inversion. The better correlation between the backscattering coefficients obtained by the improved WCM simulations and the measured SSM was shown. The coefficients of determination were 0.46 and 0.39 under VV and VH polarization, respectively. Better inversion accuracy can be obtained by combining the two parameters with other characteristic parameters as input data into the CNN model for SSM inversion. The coefficient of determination was 0.75, root mean square error was 2.51 vol.% and mean absolute error was 2.12 vol.%. Therefore, the method can effectively separate the effects of agricultural crops and bare ground on radar signals, which contributes a novel research approach and guidance for handling SSM inversion in agricultural fields covered by vegetation. © 2023 SPIE.

Recent video editing advancements rely on accurate pose sequences to animate human actors. However, these efforts are not suitable for cross-species animation due to pose misalignment between species (for example, the poses of a cat differ greatly from that of a pig due to their distinct body structures). In this paper, we present Anima 2 , a zero-shot diffusion-based video generator to address this issue, aiming to accurately ANIMAte ANIMAls while preserving the background. The key technique involves two-fold subject alignment. First, we improve appearance feature extraction by integrating a Laplacian detail booster and a prompt-tuning identity extractor. They capture essential appearance information, including identity and fine details. Second, we align shape features and address conflicts from differing animals by introducing a scale-information remover and an adaptive rescaling module. They both enhance subject alignment for accurate cross-species animation. Additionally, we introduce two high-quality animal video datasets with diverse species to benchmark cross-species animation. Trained on these extensive datasets, our model directly generates videos with accurate movements, consistent appearances, and high-fidelity frames, eliminating the need for test-time training. Extensive experiments demonstrate our method’s superiority in cross-species animation, showcasing robust adaptability and generality.

Image restoration refers to the process of restoring a damaged low-quality image back to its corresponding high-quality image. Recently, a special type of diffusion bridge model has achieved more advanced results in image restoration. It can transform the direct mapping from low-quality to high-quality images into a diffusion process, restoring low-quality images through a reverse process. However, the current diffusion bridge restoration models do not emphasize the idea of conditional control, which may affect performance. This paper introduces the ECDB model enhancing the control of the diffusion bridge with low-quality images as conditions. Moreover, in response to the characteristic of diffusion models having low denoising level at larger values of t, we also propose a Conditional Fusion Schedule, which more effectively handles the conditional feature information of various modules. Experimental results prove that the ECDB model has achieved state-of-the-art results in many image restoration tasks, including deraining, inpainting and super-resolution. Deep learning has strongly promoted the research progress of unimodal feature learning such as face recognition and speech recognition, but it still needs to be strengthened in multimodal data representation learning, especially the problem of high power consumption, which is not conducive to the real-time application of mobile devices under limited resources. In order to realize multimodal identity recognition for low-energy edge smart devices, this paper proposes a multimodal identity recognition method of spiking neural network based on brain-like mechanism (SNN-MIR-BiM). Simulating the attention mechanism of the cognitive system to specific information improves the response of multimodal features, mimics the regulation mechanism of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the nervous system, and releases reward signals from the recognition results, which affects the neuronal state and regulates the synaptic weights through global propagation, and then optimizes the network structure. Experimental results on large-scale audio and video datasets show that the proposed method can reach 98.94% recognition accuracy, and the energy consumption of the model is about 1/10 of that of CNN under the same architecture, which verifies the effectiveness of the attention mechanism and reward propagation in network design. This research is of great practical significance in the industry applications of unmanned autonomous systems such as human-computer interaction of intelligent machines and intelligent security. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of drone technology, object detection technology is widely applied in the field of drone intelligent transportation. In response to the problems of low accuracy and high computational complexity in vehicle detection tasks on resource limited drones, this paper proposes a lightweight and efficient improved model PG-YOLO for drone vehicle detection based on the YOLOv7-tiny model. Firstly, replace the LeakyReLU activation function with the SiLU activation function to compensate for the lack of nonlinear expression in the LeakyReLU activation function, and improve the convergence speed and generalization of the model during training;Secondly, the feature extraction and fusion modules were optimized to enhance the network's perception and capture capabilities of the target, improve detection accuracy, and reduce the number of parameters;Then, lightweight convolution PConv and GSConv are introduced, and a lightweight module PPC based on PConv is proposed to improve the network's Neck layer, reducing the number of parameters and computation while maintain detection performance;Finally, the CBAM attention mechanism is introduced to improve the detection performance for the problem of dense vehicle targets. The improved network achieved an average detection accuracy of 60.1%, an increase of 12.1 percentage points compared to the original network, a reduction of 73.6% in parameter count, a reduction of 15.9% in computational complexity, and a detection speed of 154 FPS. Compared to the original network, the network is more lightweight and achieves higher detection accuracy, which can more effectively perform unmanned aerial vehicle detection tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

User-generated content (UGC) has become more and more popular on the web and the published review is an essential type of UGC. Nevertheless, the explosion of reviews brings a problem of severe information overload. Therefore, most web services supply review recommendations for users. Traditionally, reviews of an item could be exhibited in chronological or popularity order without personalization. However, some researchers are aware of the significant role of the personalized review recommendation, which focuses on discovering users' personalized preferences so that recommended reviews could match users' preferences better. Unfortunately, it is hard to obtain users' feedback on reviews due to the privacy protection and trade secrets. Furthermore, the difficulty in capturing varying patterns of users' preferences and the sparsity of interactions between users and reviews are also challenging. To address these problems, we first formally define the top-N review recommendation problem and construct two categories of datasets based on a public dataset. Secondly, we propose a meta-learning based heterogeneous graph attention network incorporating multiple relationships among the users, items and reviews to model personalized users' preferences and cope with the sparse situation. Moreover, to accelerate the message propagation computation, a method of the substructure-oriented local graph construction is proposed and is fused into the meta-learning framework based on a pair-wise ranking. For the top-N review recommendation, experiments are conducted on the two categories of a real-world dataset. Compared with the state-of-the-arts, the results validate the effectiveness of our model for review recommendation. © 2022 IEEE.
